Intern candidates must be eligible to undergo security processing for a Top Secret clearance granted by the Department of Defense or an Intelligence Community agency. As part of our team, the proposal writing and copy-editing intern will apply conceptual, visual, and technical thinking to how stories come to life. You will write engaging brand narratives and content strategies that make you think about and feel something. You will participate in research to uncover deep, rich insights that feed the foundation for compelling concepts, strategies, and stories. You will partner with creative, strategy, and portfolio leaders and to consistently raise the bar for our content development and execution. You'll champion your ideas and campaign for the ideas of others.

ACS is proud to be entering our 4th year of offering internships geared at growing the next generation of talent. Our annual cohort formally runs from 6/3/2024 through 8/9/20204 but includes the flexibility to start the work as early as 5/6/20243 and continue beyond the 8/9/2024 end date if the work, project sponsor, and intern agree to an extension. ACS’s ideal internal candidates are rising seniors who display the desire and ability to be self-starters.

ACS interns in the National Capital Region (NCR) are encouraged to work from the corporate offices 2x/week but may also telework full-time or create a blended work schedule. Interns who do commute to the office are provided a commuting stipend of $125/month. Teleworking interns are expected to use video-based collaboration to work with ACS project sponsors, supervisors, and intern-cohort participants. ACS provides the computer equipment necessary for the intern to be successful in their role. Our end goal for ACS interns is to identify a future pathway to full-time ACS employment. Given the market in which we operate, full-time employment (after graduation) will require a security clearance. ACS strongly encourages candidates to only apply if they are interested in beginning the process of obtaining a security clearance while participating in the internship.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Work with Business Winning/Growth Lead and ACS Technical Solutioneers to:

  • Develop and deliver the content strategy, management, copywriting, and editing for business-winning artifacts such as proposals, marketing materials, and customer-focused pitches
  • Provide writing that describes ACS capabilities as tailored to target-based objectives based on target-audience insights and communication style
  • Interface with subject matter experts to document experience, processes, and success stories
  • Improve self-editing capabilities
  • Collaborate with program owners, managers, and leaders to document historical ACS performance; catalog performance written content in a logical and intuitively navigable manner
  • Identify areas of improvement for ACS’s business-winning written content

      Required Qualifications:

        • Pursuit of a bachelor’s or master’s program in journalism, writing, English, marketing, communications, or related field.
        • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
        • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects.
        • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
        • Be a creative thinker and problem solver.
        • Ability to produce clear, compelling copy along the creative spectrum and across a range of mediums and deliverables
        • Ability to short and long-form writing samples
        • Experience with displaying outstanding pitch, presentation, and communication skills
