Job Description

The American Montessori Society (AMS) embarks on ambitious and multifaceted initiatives as the organization celebrates its 65th Anniversary in Fiscal Year 2025. Projects include producing events nationwide, creating a custom exhibit for The Montessori Event in Denver, CO, and making a commemorative publication. We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Consultant to oversee the development and production of a commemorative publication that celebrates the rich history, achievements, and stories of all our member schools and AMS-affiliated teacher education programs. This role involves extensive communication and coordination with AMS members to collect contributions, organize content, manage photographs with proper releases, and ensure the project's success from inception to completion. The consultant will work closely with AMS’s internal team, copyeditor, and publisher to bring this publication to life, honoring the legacy and impact of Montessori education across our extensive network.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the project management for the creation of the commemorative publication, ensuring milestones are met within deadlines.
  • Act as the primary liaison between AMS, member schools, teacher education programs, and the publishing team, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
  • Collect, organize, and track contributions (stories, achievements, milestones) from member schools and teacher education programs.
  • Manage the submission and organization of photographs, ensuring all necessary liability releases are obtained and properly documented.
  • Work closely with AMS’s copyeditor to ensure content is accurate, engaging, and adheres to AMS’s standards.
  • Coordinate the design, layout, and production processes, ensuring the final product meets AMS’s quality expectations.
  • Address and solve any issues or challenges that arise during the project lifecycle, maintaining a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Prepare regular updates and reports for AMS leadership, highlighting progress, challenges, and solutions.

 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in project management, preferably in publishing, communications, or a related field.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Familiarity with the Montessori education system and a passion for educational excellence.
  • Proficiency in digital tools for project management, document organization, and communication.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to changing priorities and project needs.
