Job Description

The business development department implements strategies to achieve market share growth by finding + developing new customer accounts and new opportunity segments.

The Market Development Manager is responsible for identifying and penetrating new segments and markets in support of building a robust pipeline of sales opportunities for conventional steel construction within the brand. They are the driver of sales between BlueScope Conventional Steel Services (BCSS) and the brand builders, implementing strategies to achieve opportunity generation and revenue goals, grow customer accounts, and strengthen the overall position of BlueScope within the builder community.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Identify the top builders to grow BCSS sales with and execute a growth plan that will create a preference and/or develop a market for conventional steel business. Deliver the BCSS value proposition to brand builders to ensure builder awareness and revenue in Conventional sales meets target. 
  • Educate and drive incremental sales with developers and architects in the market by presenting our value proposition, training them on the benefits of a metal building, and acting as the conduit between these professionals and the brand builder network.
  • Understand and drive the BCSS position in the marketplace assigned relative to competitors, products and services, and industry trends. Report market intelligence to BCSS to ensure competitiveness. Act as a trusted advisor to assist sales in qualifying projects as BCSS or brand managed projects and guide decisions to maximize the best option for the project and customer. 
  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan with brand sales and segment management to achieve revenue goals and key growth objectives with strategic brand builders by specific deliverable dates.

  • Review building drawings and specifications to identify scope of work required for proposal.

  • Develop or manage preliminary structural design using both conventional steel and PEMB design tools. Include proposal drawings and reactions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (or related)
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
