CES is seeking a Lead Consultant of Emerging Technologies with a track record of managing client engagement in the energy markets. As a Lead Consultant, your primary responsibilities will include identifying and cultivating business opportunities, managing complex projects with a remote team, and positioning our company as a leader in the industry.

Responsibilities:

The role is 55% project management and delivery, 25% mentoring analysts’ team, 10% establishing market expertise and 10% business development.

1. Project Management
   1. Lead the delivery of customer work through modeling, developing presentations, writing, and preparing reports, and owning customer requests.
   2. Track and manage actual performance of project teams against the established plan, with ongoing communication to project team members.
2. Establish Market Expertise to Interface with Clients
   1. Establish our company as a thought leader in the industry by engaging with key decision-makers, presenting at industry events and conferences, and showcasing our expertise.
   2. Assimilate complex information into readily understood reports and presentations. Translate technical concepts to a broader audience.
   3. Utilize and contribute to CES’s suite of dispatch and financial models for valuing energy projects, advising on enhancements in line with evolving market rules and regulations.
3. Business Development
   1. Develop business opportunities with both new and existing clients, engaging with inquiries and providing market insights.
   2. Lead and coordinate the preparation and responses to Request for Proposals (RFPs), ensuring comprehensive and timely submissions.
   3. Monitor and track submitted proposals, providing regular updates and strategic feedback to management.
   4. Conduct thorough market research, collaborating with the marketing department to refine and enhance marketing materials and strategies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of power industry experience.
• Proven track record in project management and client management.
• In-depth understanding of energy, ancillary services, and capacity frameworks within the US ISO/RTO markets.
• In-depth understanding of price forecasting methods, project merchant revenues, and our role as independent market consultant.
• In-depth understanding of state and utility programs for renewable energy technologies.
• Excellent verbal, writing and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical/quantitative skills. Understanding of energy modeling system and methods.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with both US and remote teams.
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and problem-solve with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

• In-depth understanding of distribution energy resources (DERs) pairing with renewables.
• In-depth understanding in energy storage dispatch modeling.
• Knowledge of Vehicle-to-Anything (V2X) applications.
• Knowledge of green hydrogen market and applications.
• Familiarity with RTO/ISO transmission planning and generation interconnection processes.

Location:

• This is a remote position within US, with a strong preference in the Northeast.

Travel:

• Periodic travel to attend regulatory meetings, conferences, company quarterly meetings at our headquarters in Philadelphia.

Job Description

We are looking for a talented and hard-working individual with a minimum of three (3) years experience in the deregulated electric industry to support the electricity market analysis consulting work of Customized Energy Solutions. This position will be largely focused on assisting with the management of Customized Energy Solutions’ wholesale market load and generation clients, including settlement, scheduling, and other back office processes, specifically focusing on activity in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) region. In order to support these functions, the candidate will need to become familiar with operational processes required to support our client’s business.  Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Being detail oriented and a person of integrity are essential qualities, as is an ability to handle new tasks and manage multiple projects and competing priorities. The position will also involve performing analytical project work geared towards evaluations of aspects of the electricity markets.

Examples of specific responsibilities will include:

• Coordination of generation scheduling activities / reporting for wholesale generation clients
• Development of settlement reports, monitoring tools, and other methods of assisting wholesale generation or load clients in maximizing efficiency in the electric markets.
• Participate in market analysis projects focused on the MISO markets, but possibly involving other areas of the deregulated energy markets.  
• Identification of potential generation or load scheduling / services clients
• Develop proposals for projects and communicate with clients or potential clients to revise, refine, and / or adapt proposals to client needs.
• Analyze RTO settlement statements, file disputes and identify invoice discrepancies
• Develop and modify modeling tools utilized in energy resource assessments and related analyses.
• Guide clients on wholesale market issues / rule changes / settlement impacts, etc

Qualifications

To effectively fulfill this role, the Analyst needs to possess:

• Specific knowledge of the MISO wholesale markets and settlement statements
• A Bachelor’s Degree; preferably in electrical engineering or other engineering field
• Experience in performing project research
• Experience in interacting with the MISO markets
• Strong analytical reasoning skills
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to be self-directed as well as work well with others
• Experience with standard office software
• Analytical skill set with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Preferred candidates will also possess the following:

• Database software skills, specifically Microsoft SQL experience
• Graduate degree in engineering, statistics, econometrics, or related field

This position will be largely focused on assisting with the management of Customized Energy Solutions’ wholesale market generation and load clients, including, settlement, scheduling, and other back-office processes, primarily focusing on activity in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and secondary the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) markets. In order to support these functions, the candidate will need to become familiar with operational processes required to support our client’s business.  Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Being detail oriented and a person of integrity are essential qualities, as is an ability to handle new tasks and manage multiple projects and competing priorities.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Coordination of scheduling activities & reporting for wholesale generation and load clients
• Assisting clients with/and performing the registration and testing of resources and Market Participants into the ERCOT market.  This includes coordinating with other CES teams (i.e. IT, SCADA, Networking, finance) to support resource start-up.
• Participate in market analysis projects focused on the ERCOT market, but possibly involving other areas of the deregulated energy markets.   
• Develop proposals for projects and communicate with clients or potential clients to revise, refine, and / or adapt proposals to client needs.
• Development of settlement reports, monitoring tools, and other methods of assisting wholesale generation or load clients in maximizing efficiency in the electric markets.
• Perform business development activities to expand CES’s client base and product offerings.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

1. Team Lead
   1. Manage consultant team in US by establishing overall direction and creating strategic initiatives;

   4. Collaborate with international teams to execute projects.
2. Business Development
   1. Develop business opportunities with existing and new clients by responding to inquiries and providing market insights.
   2. Establish as the industry thought leader by interacting with key decision makers and presenting at industry events and conferences.
   3. Lead responses to Emerging Technologies Request for Proposals (RFPs) by coordinating collection and preparation of required information
   4. Track submitted proposals and provide feedback to management.
   5. Present market research to the marketing department and recommend strategies to improve market marketing materials.
3. Project Execution
   1. Manage the execution of written and technical work for consulting projects involving emerging technologies including energy storage, Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), electric vehicles, and green hydrogen.
   2. Utilize and contribute to CES’s suite of dispatch and financial models used for valuing energy projects. Advise on model enhancements based on the developing market rules and regulations.
   3. Develop high-quality presentation and communication material, including client presentations, reports and materials that facilitates discussions. Explain technical concepts associated with the project work to non-technical audiences.
   4. Successfully execute client contracts from negotiation to close in adherence to related company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years power industry experience
• Graduate degree in business administration, marketing, finance, or related field
• Significant experience in stationary storage, eMobility or hydrogen
• Proven experience in sales, marketing, business development, and management.
• Knowledge of RTO/ISO energy, ancillary services, and capacity in Northeast markets (NYISO, PJM and/or ISO-NE)
• Knowledge of state and utility programs for energy storage resources in the Northeast
• Strong verbal, writing and presentation skills
• Strong analytical/quantitative skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with both US and remote teams.
• Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task.

Preferred

• Expertise with distribution energy resources (DERs) pairing with renewables, and energy storage dispatch modeling.
• Knowledge of V2X applications.
• Knowledge of green hydrogen market and applications.

·       Help in drafting various policy papers on behalf of IESA and to support consulting division, whenever required

·       Assist with programme implementation, including help with preparing presentations, concept notes, Minutes of meeting & comments to senior leadership

·       Articulate findings through visually appealing/appropriate frameworks and in a clear, concise, and grammatically correct business English (both written and verbal)

·       Contribute to the delivery and presentation of client deliverables (MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Word) - prepare client-ready presentations that are well structured, logical and clear to understand

Qualifications

·       Completed master’s degree in energy science/ power engineering/ renewable energy/ economics/ public policy or related field with minimum 2 years of experience in power sector or e-mobility sector.

·       Keen interest in power sector, electricity markets, renewable , energy storage , E-Mobility , finance, regulations, and energy transition is desirable.

·       Sound understanding of India’s energy sector and policy and regulatory environment

·       Should have a strong research background, including an understanding of experimental and analytical research

·       Experience in writing research papers and other strategic communications is a necessary prerequisite.
