Emergent is expanding, and looking for several new team members to join at analyst/associate level. Roles are likely to involve a blend of tasks across four of Emergent’s teams: Demand, building a pipeline of corporate demand for high-integrity credits; Supply, securing the right to sell these credits from tropical forest governments around the world; Transactions, matching buyers and sellers in order to execute credit contracts and transactions; and Fund Management & Reporting, ensuring funds from credit sales are deployed to pre-agreed forest protection programmes. We’re looking for exceptional people, able to exercise a high degree of autonomy and take on significant responsibility, identifying problems and recommending and implementing solutions. With credits expected to become available in 2022 and initial transaction volumes in the tens of millions of tons (tCO2e) building to hundreds of millions of tons within a few years, Emergent expects to receive substantial flows of private sector funds underwritten by sovereign guarantees. Reporting to the Chief Portfolio Officer, the Vice President, Transactions role is critical to helping Emergent achieve its mission. The role holder will be charged with the successful design and execution of complex financial transactions, bringing together large private sector buyers and forest countries for the sale of carbon credits. The Vice President, Transactions will the opportunity to help refine and execute on a new contractual framework underpinning a vital global market in carbon credits.
