Product Design at Koombea

 

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our kickass team in Colombia. As a Senior Product Designer at Koombea, you will lead UX projects and ensure that the product experiences are valuable to our end-users and deal with complex problems and transform them into intuitive, accessible, and easy-to-use experiences.

You will solve complex problems using User Experience methods and iterate on great solutions. You will also work with complex requirements and help set a vision for the product grounded in those needs and collaborate with a cross-functional team to build iteratively.

Responsibilities

 

This position reports to the Product Design Director and collaborates with others to elevate experiences across multiple products. As part of your role, you will:

  • Facilitate the client's product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping, and user-testing experiences for digital products.
  • Work directly with engineers, delivering them product specs and assets
  • Work directly with junior designers to envision and iterate concepts
  • Design mockups and high-fidelity user interfaces
  • work on cross-platform applications to develop user experiences covering mobile, web, and desktop platforms.
  • Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
  • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core and new functions and features.
  • Contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the team
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to team processes and practices.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor degree in Graphic Design (e.g. UX, interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial)
  • 5+ years of experience designing complex products for mobile and desktop devices in an Agile environment
  • A portfolio of work samples showcasing the qualifications above
  • Interest in constantly keeping up-to-date on the latest trends, best practices, and competitive activity.
  • Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and site maps
  • Have a love/hate relationship with Adobe & sketch
  • Excellent organizational, time, and project management skills
  • Prototyped with tools like Figma, Sketch InVision, and Flinto App
  • Experience with responsive design and the mobile-first approach
  • Excellent communicator, collaborator, and advocate for the user.

 

Plus Qualifications:

  • Experience with UX Research methods, planning, and data analysis
  • Proficient with Figma industry standard for design and prototyping

Qualifications

1.     Hands-on experience developing complex PHP/Laravel applications. Ideal candidates are expected to demonstrate strong background and proven experience participating in long-term software development projects (several years long)

2.    At least 5 years in software development industry and at least 3 years as PHP/Laravel software engineer (or senior software engineer) in custom software development projects or in product development companies

3.    Familiarity with limitations of PHP as a platform and common PHP or web exploits and solutions

4.    Hands-on experience with Rest API, PHP Eloquent and Crons.

5.    Knowledge and practical expertise in SQL (scheme design, querying, typical performance optimizations)

6.    Strong theoretical background in OOP and understanding modern design patterns

7.    Experience (or motivation) to work in a remote environment with a distributed team 

8.    Ability to carry on English communication in emails and chats with customers. Ideal candidate has fluent English to maintain technical calls with the US teammates

9.    Strong self-management and self-organizational skills

10.  Understanding of fundamental software development lifecycle stages (e.g. requirements, design, development, testing, delivery) and processes

    • As part of an agile development team, participate in the sprint planning meetings, daily stand-ups and follow the agile development process
    • Review, refactor and maintain codebases
    • Submit applications to beta and production distribution environments
    • Ensure the quality of the deliverables and their code

     

    What You’ll Bring to the Team

    • Proficient in Swift, with a good knowledge of its ecosystems
    • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
    • Experience with UIKit APIs on watchOS/tvOS
    • Good knowledge of performance limits and characteristics
    • Knowledge of memory management and multi-threading
    • Experience with embedded databases and other system datastores
    • Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect to back-end services
    • Familiarity with Local Databases (CouchBase, Realm, CoreData)
    • Good sense of UI design and a user-oriented focus
    • Experience with UIKit APIs on watchOS/tvOS
    • Knowledge of low-level C-based libraries is a plus
    • Implementation of automated testing platforms and unit tests
    • A knack for benchmarking and optimization
    • Understanding of Apple’s design principles and interface guidelines
    • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (Git)
    • Familiarity with continuous integration (Fastlane, Jenkins, CircleCI, Fabric)
    • Experience working with multiple targets, schemes and environments

    The Job

    The Security Analyst - Information Protection (IP) focuses on risk, policies, data classification and data loss prevention (DLP). Must have the ability to qualitatively understand business processes in order to assess behaviors against authorized activities in a given business unit, and determine whether the behavior was intentional or due to ignorance.

    What You’ll Do

    • Plan, Implement and upgrade security measures and controls
    • Protect digital files and information systems against unauthorized access, modification or destruction
    • Maintain data and monitor security access
    • Conduct internal and external security audits
    • Manage data loss prevention systems
    • Analyze security breaches to determine their root cause
    • Recommend and install appropriate tools and countermeasures
    • Define, implement and maintain corporate security policies
    • Coordinate security plans with outside vendors

    What You Bring to the Team

    • Conducting data flow analysis
