Where You Come In:

  • Help to design and implement the architecture of a large-scale crawling system
  • Design, implement, and maintain various components of our data acquisition infrastructure (building new crawlers, maintain existing crawlers, data cleaners & loaders)
  • Work on developing tools to facilitate the scraping at scale, monitor the health of crawlers and ensure data quality of the scraped items. 
  • Collaborate with our product and business teams to understand / anticipate requirements to strive for greater functionality and impact in our data gathering systems 

What you’ll be bringing to the team:

  • 3+ Years experience with Python for data wrangling and cleaning
  • 2+ Years experience with data crawling & scraping at scale (100+ spiders at least)
  • Productionized experience with Scrapy is mandatory. Distributed crawling and advanced scrapy experience are a plus.
  • Familiarity with scraping libraries and monitoring tools highly recommended (BeautifulSoup, Xpaths, Selenium, Puppeteer, Splash)
  • Familiarity with data pipelining to integrate scraped items into existing data pipelines.
  • Experience extracting data from multiple disparate sources including HTML, XML, REST, GraphQL, PDF, and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

Accounting

  • Prepare and review month-end NAV packages including income statement and balance sheet

  • Prepare and review shadow allocations to independently verify P&L allocation

management fees, performance allocations, net returns and internal rate of returns across all

investors. 

  • Oversee and review expense accruals, expense cash payments and budgeting on a

monthly/quarterly basis.

  • Review investment contracts and amendments to calculate interest income and other profit.

Review key terms such as maturity date, interest rate (cash/PIK), par amount, other fees,

other terms etc.  Prepare and review investment payoff statements and similar reporting. 

 

Financial Reporting/Investor Relations

  • Oversee and review investor capital activity calculations/statements, quarterly investor 

capital and withdrawal statements and monthly/quarterly fund returns.  Coordinate and 

handle investor inquiries with Director of Finance related to fund performance as well as 

other ad-hoc requests, including investor confirmations.

  • Assist in investor subscription onboarding and fund setup with custodians and fund

  • Coordinate/review all internal and external investors transfers with limited partners.
  • Review year-end financial statements prepared in accordance with US GAAP   

 

Compliance/Tax

  • Assist in preparing Forms ADV and PF
  • Prepare Quarterly VAT UK tax filings and annual returns.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business administration, accounting, finance or related field

Legalist is hiring a Financial Analyst to enhance our Debtor-In-Possession (DIP) Financing strategy. This role is pivotal in developing dynamic financial models, underwriting credit risk, and refining our investment processes. Core Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and refine sophisticated financial models in Excel to support investment decisions, negotiations, and portfolio management.
  • Monitor and analyze loan budgets and milestones.
  • Conduct detailed credit risk analyses, evaluating borrower reorganization viability, market conditions, and collateral quality to inform underwriting decisions and negotiations.
  • Collaborate with the investment and risk management teams to provide data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management on portfolio performance, risk exposure, and investment opportunities.
  • Stay abreast of market trends and potential impacts on portfolio risk and investment opportunities.
  • Enhance loan origination and monitoring processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field is required; advance degrees are highly regarded.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in financial analysis, modeling, and risk assessment in a finance, banking, or private credit environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including experience with building complex financial models.
  • Familiarity with data visualization is valued.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
