Your mission, should you choose to accept it

We are seeking a passionate Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in translating complex problems into simple and reliable code. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing and implementing new features within our application from both frontend and backend perspectives. This includes areas such as payment processing, API endpoints, tokenization, virtual cards, administration tools, graphics, and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement new features across frontend and backend systems.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure high-quality code and efficient performance.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and best practices.
  • Assist in bug fixing and troubleshooting to maintain system reliability.
  • Share knowledge and mentor colleagues to enhance team capabilities.

Mandatory hard skills

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in PHP 8.2 with modern features such as types and annotations.
  • Strong expertise in Laravel 10, including cache, queues, Eloquent ORM, and Laravel Passport.
  • Mastery of React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Knowledge of ReactNative is a plus.

The 5-legged goat (or assets)

  • Experience with testing strategies such as unit testing, integration testing, and TDD.
  • Proficiency in RESTful API design using tools like OpenAPI and Postman.
  • Familiarity with relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL, including optimization and design.
  • Collaborative development using pull requests.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, IaC, AWS is advantageous.

Soft skills

  • Proficient written and oral English communication (level B2 or above).
  • Strong team player comfortable with pair programming.
  • Ownership and accountability for work delivered.
  • Ability to share knowledge and expertise with the team.

???? Job brief and Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer team member at Paynovate, you are responsible for developing the solutions within the scope of that team and supporting the other Software Engineers.

You can discuss with Product Owners handling requirements and specifications, aligning on business priorities and team goals.

You will design, develop, and implement software solutions that facilitate financial transactions.

This includes writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code in languages like Java, C++, Python, PHP, or similar.

You write concise and clean code, that is easily maintained and managed by other people on the team or even outside the team. You follow the Software Development Life Cycle defined by Paynovate.

Your code is easily testable, and you handle test automation for unit tests and functional tests, all automation to support this is handled by you or other Software Engineers in the team, using the Tooling enabling this.

You will integrate various financial systems and third-party services (like payment gateways, banking APIs, etc.) to ensure seamless transaction processing.

You maintain and manage your Code Quality at the desired level, discussing eventual shortcuts or compromises with the Lead Developer.

You manage and handle the Tooling together with the Sysadmins, so that the teams can have a reliable delivery pipeline, and are able to deliver features within a day.

✨ Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in software development, preferably in the financial services or payments industry.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages (Java, C++, Python, PHP, etc.).
  • Familiarity with database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) and data modeling.
  • Knowledge of financial systems, electronic payments, and transaction processing.
  • Understanding of security principles and compliance regulations relevant to financial software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • You write and speak English fluently in a professional context (C1 level).
