OSG is hiring a Remote Junior Instructional Designer

We're looking fora learner-focused and detailed orientedJunior Instructional Designerto join our Curriculum Department! Our team of Instructional Designers are responsible for the development of OSG’s 250+ facilitator-led and online courses. Topics include workplace health and safety, workplace accessibility, mobile equipment, and a variety of courses that promote the importance of workplace wellbeing in organizations across Canada. As a Junior Instructional Designer, you will contribute to the development of facilitator-led and online courses and related learning materials. Using e-learning tools and software, you will assist in content creation and learning design. You will also leverage your problem-solving skills to improve user experience by troubleshooting technical issues and course errors. 

The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for learning and user-centered design, and a strong interest in building a career in Instructional Design. 

As a remote-first organization, this is a work-from-home opportunity.

What will you be doing? 

  • Contributing to facilitator-led and online course development by assisting in content creation, learning design, and course updates 
  • Utilizing learning software tools to support course development (i.e. Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Learning Management Systems)
  • Troubleshooting technical bugs and course errors to ensure accuracy and improve user experience
  • Collaborating with Instructional Designers in an Agile environment to improve, develop, and re-design courses
  • Using technology to process course translations from English to French 
  • Applying organizational skills to store and manage course files 

What can you bring to the table?

  • Post-secondary education in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, Education, or related fields 
  • An understanding and interest in adult learning principles and instructional design 
  • A strong technical aptitude, familiarity using Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, or Adobe Indesign is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail that will allow you to troubleshoot and innovate ways to improve user experience

We are looking for a well-rounded and forward-thinkingProgram Manager, EHS Consulting. In this role, you will use your strong leadership skills to support, mentor, and grow our small consulting team. As the Program Manager, you will be accountable to own the execution and continual improvement of the consulting department. You will partner with internal teams, leverage market data and client trends to optimize current and future consulting products and services. This role is designed to be a combination of remote (work from home) and onsite (in the field) as business needs require. Candidates located within the Greater Toronto Area or within an 80km radius will be given preference. 

What will you do in this role:

  • Mentor, coach, and provide leadership to the consulting team
  • Oversee and manage projects and team professional growth and development plans
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the consultants’ by managing workloads and timelines effectively, while satisfying  competing priorities
  • Keep a pulse on client requests and collaborate with sales and marketing teams to create and productize services based on observed trends

  • Ensure client health and safety programs are compliant with provincial legislation including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Workplace Safety Insurance Act, and any other relevant health and safety procedures, guidelines, and standards across various industries
  • Travel to client onsite locations when required (i.e. for meetings, physical audits, inspections, etc.)

What you can bring to the table:

  • CRSP designation is required
  • Extensive experience working in the health and safety field, ideally in a variety of industries
  • Experience working as a consultant, with proven ability to build relationships with clients and identify needs and opportunities for additional services
  • Strong experience leading, managing, and coaching teams
  • Proven experience preparing business reports, memos, and documents with a high level of clarity for different levels of knowledge and understanding 
  • Experience creating content and educational materials, with a strong preference given to those with adult learning experience 
  • Exceptional knowledge, understanding, and application of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and related health and safety legislation, regulations, codes, and standards
  • Sharp, well-honed business acumen 
  • Proven ability to analyze business activities and requirements when faced with business disruptions or risks and the ability to respond by developing appropriate strategies and action plans for improvement
