Job Description

The Quality Assurance/Quality Control Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of calibration activities within the laboratory. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of quality management systems, laboratory procedures, and regulatory requirements. The QA/QC Officer will be responsible for conducting quality control inspections, performing audits, implementing corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maintain the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct quality control inspections and verifications of calibration activities to ensure compliance with established procedures, standards, and specifications.
  2. Perform routine checks and tests on calibration equipment, materials, and instruments to verify accuracy, precision, and reliability.
  3. Review calibration records, test data, and documentation for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  4. Identify and report deviations, non-conformities, and quality issues, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to investigate root causes and implement corrective actions.
  5. Assist in the development and maintenance of quality management system (QMS) documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality records.
  6. Conduct internal audits to assess compliance with quality management system requirements, identify areas for improvement, and facilitate corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) as necessary.
  7. Support external audits by regulatory agencies, accreditation bodies, or clients, and assist in the preparation of documentation and responses to audit findings.
  8. Provide training and guidance to laboratory staff on quality assurance and quality control procedures, documentation requirements, and best practices.
  9. Monitor and analyze quality metrics, trends, and performance indicators to identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and risk mitigation.
  10. Participate in cross-functional teams and quality improvement projects to enhance quality processes, address customer requirements, and achieve organizational objectives.
  11. Stay informed about industry developments, regulatory changes, and best practices in quality management, and ensure that the laboratory remains compliant with relevant standards and regulations.
  12. Foster a culture of quality excellence, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction throughout the organization.

Qualifications

  • Tetiary qualification in a relevant scientific or engineering field, such as chemistry, physics, engineering, or quality management. Additional certifications in quality assurance or quality control are a plus.
  • Previous experience in quality assurance, quality control, or related roles within a laboratory, manufacturing, or regulated industry environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, standards, and regulations, such as ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with calibration procedures, measurement techniques, and metrology principles is desirable.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to interpret technical data and identify quality issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide training, and communicate quality-related information.
  • Proficiency in quality management software, document control systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
