Migrating birds fly in a V-shape and take turns at the front despite no obvious benefit to the individual. Scientific studies show the degree to which V-formation confers energy savings to trailing birds in a flock. This happens when birds take advantage of updrafts created by the flapping wings of a preceding bird. Flying in a V-formation is about flying in the right place at the right time. Like birds, we humans accomplish the greatest things by ‘flying’ in perfect formation, or alignment, with others and our environment, in all aspects of life.
