Job Description

You will work on the Cloud Browser Isolation team which is a distributed team that works fast and lives on the cutting edge of backend, frontend and infrastructure software engineering. We favor open-source reuse but we are not afraid of building stuff ourselves where it makes sense. Our philosophy is: done is better than perfect and we strive to work iteratively and improve our code along the way so that we can deliver  fast and reliably to delight our customers. The work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to take initiative and manage ambiguity to drive effective results. This role may interface with customers, subject matter experts, technical experts, developers and QA engineers located globally and in different time zones.

 

The Principal Software Engineer will report to the Sr. Manager, Software Engineering. Zscaler is looking for a seasoned and agile software engineer that has a unique combination of skills. The ideal candidate will play a key role in all phases of the product development cycle, from definition, design, through implementation, test, release and monitor of components of our Browser Isolation Platform.  This is an excellent opportunity to join a small, dynamic team that is working on cutting edge Browser Isolation technology to evolve our current cloud security flagship products: ZIA and ZPA.

 

About the Isolation Experience team

 

The team's mission is to ensure a seamless isolation experience for our users. That is: develop, maintain and improve the user experience, session spin up performance and enhance with isolation specific user experience. 

Responsibilities:

Work closely with Sr Manager and Sr. Architect, drive technical excellence and innovation, architecture / system design, mentoring, tech adoption and alignment, develop spikes and experiments​, code reviews and feedback, technical capacity planning​, tools adoption, establish SLAs, define metrics & monitoring​ objectives, overseeing patterns and practices, alignment with other tech leads​, hands-on coding 30% to 70% of the time, system roadmap planning (initiatives about reliability, scalability availability, tech debt, etc.)​, development process (shared with team, Sr. Manager and Sr Architect), team visibility and recognition.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering with a minimum of 5 years in developing JavaScript / TypeScript based solutions for the web, node.js, desktop or mobile.

  • Must be proficient in JavaScript / TypeScript

  • Able to design and build protocol based services.

    • Must have: RESTful APIs and solid understanding of HTTP protocol.

    • Nice to have: gRPC, WebSocket, Thrift, etc.

  • Have a proven record of having fulfilled a similar role in the past.

  • Solid understanding of systems design, programming principles, browsers, node, DOM, HTML and CSS.

 

Nice to haves:

  • Experience working with JS desktop apps is a plus

  • Experience with transpilers and bundlers is a plus

  • Experience programming in Golang

  • Experience working with React.js / Angular 1.x and 2.x+ / Vanilla JS is a plus.

  • Experience in developing media streaming products is a plus. 

  • Experience with container technologies like Docker and container orchestration like Kubernetes is a plus

  • Experience with working with automation tools for code quality, testing, CI/CD is a plus.

Your main responsibilities

Customer Lifecycle Management

This leadership role for Indirect Sales Engineering is part of the larger Cybersource Global Sales Engineering & Delivery function and supports the Cybersource Sales organization – North America. As a key contributor to the success of the partner sales organization, the role is primarily responsible for providing direct leadership, line management responsibility to the partner facing sales engineering team, supporting engagements through meetings, presentations, supporting RFP and bid management along with executing on innovative and technology led demonstrations showcasing the Cybersource technology to prospects during the sales cycle. Essential Functions:

  • Drives cross functional collaboration and engagement through strong communication approaches to execute on the partner sales GTM across the North American region.
  • Lead and support the North American Sales Engineering team in the execution of the GTM strategy for supporting, enabling net new and existing opportunities during the client sales life cycle resulting in net new acquisition of partners and retention and upselling of existing relationships.

  • Maintain a role as technical expert for information security policies, practices and procedures; ensure information security policies, procedures and updates are communicated appropriately

Information Security Operations

  • With the help of the Information Security Staff perform the following: Complete ongoing security training for associates; Manage user access; New hire and termination procedures over all applications; Manage and report information security incidents, Conduct security compliance reviews annually; Maintain PCI-DSS compliance throughout the company and subsidiaries; Develop and maintain the Information Security Incident Response Playbook on an annual basis. Perform an annual TABLE TOP exercise with senior management of the corporation. Responsible for setting strategy to integrate all subsidiaries within the Incident Response Playbook
  • Review and perform risk assessments of all SSENSE vendors on a recurring basis to ensure vendors meet SSENSE security standards
  • Perform an EDA (Early Data Assessments) together with security partners

People leadership & development 

  • Work with Managers to ensure hiring targets are being met 
  • Hold weekly one-on-ones, conduct performance reviews, analyze individual KPIs and assess promotion readiness to help each contributor evolve in their roles
  • Ensure team mobilization by regularly gauging team engagement and implementing appropriate means to create a transparent, collaborative and productive work environment 
  • Identify current gaps within the team/department structure and work with Senior Leadership on resourcing plans
  • Establish the resource plan for the direct team

Qualifications

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Information Systems or Computer Science required
  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) an asset
  • 10 years of experience in AWS Cloud Technologies, Modern Application Development, Technology Operations required
  • 7 years of experience in Strong Network relationships with Industry Peers, Vendors and Government Agencies preferred
  • The candidate must have two of the following certifications:

Job Description

Principal Responsibilities and Essential Duties: 

  • Performs moderate to complex analyses of business goals, objectives and needs within the general business environment.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Masters in Business or Engineering a plus.
  • Black Belt Certification required
  • 5-10 Years of Experience - Portfolio of past work preferred
  • 25% Travel
  • Strong analytic aptitude required. Must be able to assess and address moderate to complex business problems and develop and implement solutions to meet unit goals.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Able to work in a collaborative fashion and independently.
  • Polished presentation and public speaking skills with an ability to interact at an executive level
