Pleo is hiring a Remote DevSecOps Engineer

Here at Pleo, our customer base is growing with Sonic.gif speed! This is amazing yet the larger we become, the bigger the temptation for the less lawful sides of society. As a FinTech, we directly handle money for our customers and see the most incidents across all industries. We’re not only about protecting users from password leaks where malicious actors post cat videos to your SoMe account, this is about protecting our customers' money and data. This is where you come in!

The DevSecOps role focuses on the pipeline tooling and infrastructure/cloud hardening side of security. We strive to shift left work on hardening our application and ensuring we build golden paths. We're looking for someone to be part of improving this specialization and bring opinionated insight.

To give you a better idea, here are some tasks you might do as a DevSecOps Engineer at Pleo.

Help our engineering teams build secure solutions by automating guardrails throughout our entire pipeline. You’ll put in place Infrastructure as Code security policies to improve auto-remediation for issues and only when required to help developers on remediation;

  • Assist the team with diving into various security subjects related to hardening our Kubernetes & AWS infrastructure at Pleo. Then design, implement and give your recommendation on actions;
  • Working with our Platform team to create automated continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) around security checks;
  • Be a core contributor in projects related to security automation.

To make it clear, we're not building a security team to take over all security-related tasks. We're building a team of specialists that support other teams through platform building, investigations, and coaching.

There will be a lot of flexibility in this role depending on your interests and skills, but as an Engineering role you will:

  • Help operationalize, rank, and manage our pipeline security roadmap.
  • Take part in the planning and focus on the execution of projects related to our security objectives.
  • Balance controls implementation against our data classifications while providing tactful friction to meet the needs of the company.

We don’t expect a perfect match in technology and skills. What's important is that you have a passion for the field, you are willing to expand your knowledge, and that you enjoy the responsibilities that come along with the role.

If this philosophy resonates with you, we'd love to meet you, so click apply!

Your profile

  • You recognize that communication is a core part of your job as a security engineer at Pleo.
  • You are eager to discuss complicated cloud security topics with technical colleagues.
  • You are pragmatic in your approach to security. A door that no one can unlock is very secure, but it's also no longer a door.
  • Security isn't black magic, it's a matter of understanding complex systems and applying creative thinking to interesting problems.
  • You love learning new things and enjoy working with problem areas you aren't an expert in (yet).
  • You are honest and unafraid to state things exactly like they are acknowledging and communicating what's broken is the first step to fixing things.

The nitty-gritty skills

  • You are comfortable with at least one programming language (Python, TypeScript, Kotlin, Golang) and have foundations with application development.
  • Experience with fully automating CI/CD pipelines security checks end-to-end, from code commits to production;
  • Solid experience in hardening, configuring and troubleshooting Kubernetes and AWS environments;
  • Cloud Service Knowledge. You understand how to secure all the "meshy" things from sidecars, microservices to service mesh, and you are familiar with the cloud shared responsibility model. You're comfortable balancing the tradeoff considerations with regard to cost, security, and deployment complexity.

Nice to have skills

  • Java or Kotlin proficiency and experience with securing applications running on JVM.
  • Experience with PCI DSS, GDPR, or PSD2 technical requirements such as proper network segmentation and authorization mechanism.

Non-requirements

We don't really care about certificates, degrees, and all that jazz. However, we won't penalize you for talking about your super relevant degree in information security or showing off your brand-new certificate. We also don't need you to have x years of experience in information security, but would of course love for you to tell us about any experience that you think is relevant for the job.

Your colleagues say that you

  • Have an aversion to human in the loop processes
  • Could easily be a hacker in your free time
  • Never forget to lock your laptop
  • Dropped an unattended USB-drive and waited for someone to plug it in and inadvertently realize they have a new keyboard that had specific ideas in mind..

Show me the benefits

  • Your own Pleo card (no more out-of-pocket spending!)
  • Lunch is on us - with catering in our Lisbon, Copenhagen and London offices or a monthly lunch allowance paid directly together with  your salary in other markets ????

    About the Role

    The People Shared Services team supports the strategies and success of our People & Culture (P&C) organization in inspiring our 4,000+ Stitch Fix employees to be their best selves and do their best work. Stitch Fix is seeking a strategic, business-minded leader to join our team as a Director of P&C People Operations. The areas of focus for the P&C People Operations team include:

    • Leading a team of bright, experienced people operations professionals
    • Partnering with the P&C LT to lead new P&C priorities that do not easily fit with any one P&C team, particularly projects that require external benchmarking, research, and data analysis
    • Creating new processes, tools, and ways of working that enable efficiency and alignment in our cross-P&C ways of working, especially on complex and cross-functional projects
    • Driving the overall effectiveness of P&C through proactive business processes and new initiative launches
    • Lead and develop the People Analytics strategy for the company

    This role will be remote and will initially report directly into the Chief People Officer. This leader will also work closely with our leaders across multiple P&C teams including Business Partners, Recruiting, and Growth & Development.

    You're excited about this opportunity because you will…

    • Bring thought leadership, tailored insights, and strategic perspective to help shape the strategy and priorities of the P&C function
    • Partner closely across the People & Culture team and broader company to assess existing People programs, processes, and practices, identify gaps and opportunities for significant impact and improvement
    • Help design, incubate and launch targeted new people operations programs and initiatives to enhance our employees’ experience, growth, and impact
    • Lead our People Science & Analytics Manager to drive the strategy for how P&C can effectively use people analytics across our programs
    • Create tools, processes, and ways of working that empower other P&C leaders and team members to make their programs and initiatives more successful and connected
    • Assess our current technology platforms and tools and new potential vendors against our organizational needs and a medium-term view of the strategic/financial tradeoffs
    • Perform ‘competitive intelligence’ in researching and staying current with best practices, innovations and trends in people practices among peer companies and in our industry

    We’re excited about you because…

    • You are able to fly at 30,000 feet in understanding our broad and long-term People & Culture strategies, shaping our 2-3 year priorities, and dive down to ‘sea level’ to translate them into near-term projects and priorities that help us make rapid and significant progress
    • You are a focused, organized, and results-driven individual with the discipline and gravitas to drive a diverse set of cross-functional partners towards a set of defined goals
    • Your tremendous emotional intelligence, empathy and great judgment make you a trusted partner to cross-functional colleagues across the business and P&C team
    • Your deep sense of personal responsibility, combined with your strong attention to detail and organization, means you never drop any of the many things you are juggling
    • You are naturally curious about people and love learning from different backgrounds, working styles, and perspectives and adapting your own approach to be successful
    • You always question the status quo and others’ “playbooks,” as you look for opportunities to innovate and break convention where you think we can do better
    • You meet obstacles with a positive tone, an eye for solutions and an energy for springing into action. You roll up your sleeves and do whatever needs to be done
    • You thrive in situations with a lot of ambiguity and change, balancing the need to be nimble and responsive in the short-term with driving longer-term progress
    • You are an exceptional communicator in both written and verbal interactions; clear, concise, and able to effectively distill the ‘so what’ for different audiences
    • Above all else, you are bright, kind and motivated by challenge

    THE PERSPECTIVE AND EXPERIENCE YOU BRING INCLUDES:

    • 7+ years of relevant professional experience, with a mix of consulting experience in management strategy or human capital, commensurate ‘in-house’ experience at a large, complex organization, and/or people analytics
    • Experience designing, building, driving, and operationalizing high-impact and scalable People programs and initiatives for diverse and complex organizations
    • Exceptional project management experience, making you adept at breaking down large-scale, complex problems into clear, ambitious, and manageable milestones
    • Professional experience with business analytics (i.e. using Microsoft Excel with large datasets) and communicating insights through memo and Powerpoint
    • Success in coaching organizational leaders at the Director level
    • (Bonus) Significant experience using People Analytics at a large, complex company to inform People programs
    • (Bonus) Previous experience in technology or retail/e-commerce sectors
