About the Team - This role reports to the Controller in the CAO organization, who is responsible for the financial accounting functions of the organization.  We’re looking for someone who wants a challenge and is willing to roll up their sleeves to help drive change.

 

 

About the Role - We are actively seeking a dynamic Senior Manager, Accounting Projects to enhance our Accounting department. This pivotal role involves collaboration with Accounting teams to develop efficient, scalable processes and system solutions tailored for optimal controllership. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of comprehensive accounting processes and excel in spearheading transformation in a rapid growth setting. This position does not have direct reports but leverages teams across the department to meet project objectives successfully. 

 

About the Job

  • Lead the conversion of strategic plans into executable actions by managing the rollout of cross-functional project initiatives.
  • Spearhead major transformative projects through the adoption of new systems, processes, and operational guidelines.
  • Act as the go-to Financial Accounting expert, providing pivotal insights, suggesting solutions, and representing financial interests in project discussions.
  • Build relationships with business partners and lead cross-functional teams to pinpoint and rank key improvement areas.
  • Facilitate and conduct analysis sessions, including root cause analysis, requirements gathering, process mapping, and control documentation.
  • Organize and lead brainstorming and problem-solving workshops to derive innovative solutions and address existing challenges.
  • Develop and drive strategies for effective problem-solving, research, analysis, and recommendation presentation for executive review.
  • Create, revise, and implement operational policies and documentation procedures in line with technical and policy guidelines.
  • Devise and execute a communication strategy to support change initiatives and promote wide-scale adoption.
  • Scout and advocate for new strategic opportunities, tools, AI solutions, and trends that could substantially enhance operational efficacy, accuracy, and risk management.
  • Clearly communicate project goals, updates, resource needs, and business outcomes.
  • Develop implementation roadmaps that align proposed processes and systems with organizational objectives.
  • Support the project management team in executing large-scale transformation projects, providing functional expertise and fostering scalable solutions organization-wide.

 


About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Computer Information Systems.
  • Minimum of 10 years of increasing responsibilities in operational accounting.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing cross-functional projects and/or system implementations.
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP, SOX compliance, and effective control setups.
  • Proficient in leveraging financial systems to implement technical policies.
  • Proven track record as a change leader with strong influence on leadership and project teams.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with significant analytical and interpersonal abilities.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA certification.
  • Current knowledge of industry best practices and innovations.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud, FloQast, and Workiva is a plus.
  • Experience in software for internal use, software development, leases, and accounting for cost, inventory, and fixed assets.
  • Prior exposure to high-growth, fast-paced startup environments.

The Revenue Accounting Manager will be responsible for accounting, reconciling and reporting revenue in accordance with US GAAP revenue accounting standards, Company policies and procedures as well as assisting with system clean from the implementation of a new revenue recognition software. This is a hands-on role that requires ownership and responsibility for periodic and ad hoc reconciliations of various revenue related areas including month end-close, year-end financial statement and related footnotes as well as customer cohort analysis. This position will report directly to the Director of Accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end accounting and reporting of revenue in accordance with US GAAP ASC 606 across the consolidated company
  • Complete month and year-end closing processes and prepare journal entries as applicable:
    • Lead the audit process as it relates to revenue, including managing the auditing requests, support and financial statement disclosure preparation
    • Reconcile monthly revenue to contract detail, including analyzing cash collections, performance obligations and various reporting metrics
    • Investigate and review unique revenue recognition events, including point-in-time (device shipments), over-time (subscription services), percent-of-completion (implementation services) and variable consideration (returns)
    • Perform balance sheet rollforwards of contract asset, deferred revenue and capitalized commissions
    • Be proactive and take initiative when performing tasks to help maintain the integrity of the financial statements and increase efficiencies
  • Assist in system implementation clean up as it relates to the previous implementation of Oracle Revenue Management Cloud Services (“RMCS”)
    • Investigate and validate large volumes of data to determine issues and corrections required of the revenue accounting system
    • Test and reconcile configuration and system process to determine best methods for corrections of the revenue accounting systems.
    • Assist in building checks and balances controls with new system
  • Calculate Standalone Selling Price (SSP) on a periodic basis for use in RMCS allocations.
  • Review non-standard contracts to determine revenue recognition, contract terms and other relevant information
  • Maintain an up to date and thorough knowledge of the technical accounting policies, including Nextiva’s internal Revenue Recognition Policy
  • Participate in process development and continuous improvement projects
  • Develop and establish business partnering relationships with key stakeholders such as Sales, Sales Operations, Professional Services, Device Product Development, Billing, FP&A, Accounting, IT and Legal
  • Lead, assist or participate in Revenue Recognition projects as directed by Director of Accounting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required
  • CPA and Big 4 firm, preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years public accounting experience preferred
  • Strong GAAP knowledge, ASC 606 and ASC 340-40 knowledge required
  • Strong experience and familiarity with quote to cash cycle, specifically knowledge of sku and product hierarchies as well as Software-as-a-Service companies
  • Prior experience with revenue recognition and contract management systems. Oracle Revenue Management (RMCS) and Salesforce preferred
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel w/power user abilities to perform pivots, LookUps, etc.
  • Plus for user knowledge of high-powered computing tools such as Alteryx and PowerBI.
  • Excellent analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and to complete them in a timely manner in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to take initiative, identify issues, act independently, and communicate and present recommendations to senior management
  • Ability to analyze complex data and communicate observations in a simplified manner
  • Strong business judgement and ability to work extended hours as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with various levels in the organization, be a revenue recognition champion with the ability to communicate in “plain-english” revenue concepts to non-revenue colleagues.

What You Will Do

TetraScience is currently looking for an Accounting Manager who can take much of the day-to-day accounting operations off the Controller's plate and help drive advancements with processes through accounting technologies. You must be analytically inclined and data-driven to develop strategies and processes to manage the complexity of a fast-growing software business where priorities can change quickly. You should also enjoy problem solving, have an entrepreneurial spirit and drive, and have the desire to constantly exceed expectations. As a person with strong ASC 606 experience, you will be expected to work daily with sales team personnel and others as needed. You will interact closely with all levels of management, staff and outside service providers and assist the Controller with employee development.

Your impact

We are seeking a highly motivated Revenue Accounting Manager to join the accounting team and support the growing Handshake business. Your role

  • Oversee  day-to-day order to cash operations, including customer invoicing, cash applications, collections, customer account reconciliations
  • Prepare and analyze accounts receivable aging reports, monitor customer accounts for overdue payments, follow up on delinquent accounts, and take appropriate actions to collect outstanding balances
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of revenue recognition policies and procedures in compliance with ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, Legal, Finance) to review and interpret customer contracts for proper revenue treatment, customer billing and collections process
  • Provide guidance, training, and performance management to junior team members
  • Continuously improve revenue accounting processes and internal controls through driving system automation initiatives, developing operating procedures
  • Oversee sales tax filings process
  • Actively participate in external audit and respond to revenue-related audit inquiries,  assist in the preparation of external financial statements and disclosures related to revenue.

Your experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Accounting, including minimum 1 year management experience in a fast paced high growth environment
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP, particularly ASC 606
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and ERP systems. Experience with NetSuite is preferred. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
  • Salesforce experience is a plus
  • Previous public accounting experience with a Big-4 firm is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA or other internationally recognized accounting certification are a plus
  • Proven ability to manage a high volume of transactions, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with experience in supervising and developing a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation range

  • $125,000-$150,000

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies.     NCBA CLUSA is currently seeking 2 (1- remote US volunteer and 1- volunteer based in Loja, Ecuador)qualified Farmer-to-Farmer volunteer candidates for the position of Financial Accounting Manager to support Asociación Agroartesanal de Productores Ecológicos de Café Especial del Cantón Loja (APECAEL), based in Loja, Ecuador.

    APECAEL was founded in 2004 to save coffee farms in Loja. Due to a decrease in coffee prices, many growers saw coffee as a non-profitable business and some abandoned their production altogether. APECAEL was able to stabilize their production and sell coffee at a fair price. In 2016, APECAEL expanded, building a facility to roast, grind, and store coffee. Currently, APECAEL gathers members’ coffee to sell in the national and international markets.

    APECAEL’s long term goals are to increase coffee production and purchase better harvesting equipment. Currently their Board of Directors has two women and one youth, as part of their goals to increase youth participation.

    In order to meet their goals and grow their business opportunities, APECAEL needs to understand how to interpret basic financial documents to make sound financial decisions. APECAEL’s members and Board of Directors understand they need to know what the financial reports say in order to make better decisions for themselves and the association. However, there is a misunderstanding about what current financial reports say and how they can use this information.

    Duration: 2 Weeks (August to October 2021)

    ESSENTIAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

    • Analyze the current financial and accounting management practices for the associates and Board of directors and provide constructive feedback about improvement opportunities.  
    • Based on the analysis above, provide training on essential financial management for associates, including how to create and interpret basic financial documents.  
    • Provide training on business financial management and its influence on decision-making for the Board of Directors. 
    • Teach participants about protocols used in financial audits. 

    Qualifications

    SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

    • The volunteer should have experience in accounting and financial management and the ability to transmit this knowledge using non-technical language.  
    • A Degree in Finance, Administration, Accounting, and/or a related field is required.  Background working with associations in agriculture is a plus.  
    • Experience in Latin America is also desirable.  
    • Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable but not mandatory.  
    • Available for virtual communications with Host Organization, Staff and Co-volunteer
    • US candidate must be legally able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
    • Advanced English language skills; reading, writing, speaking.

    Job Summary 


    We are seeking an outgoing, motivated, and hands-on Manager of Revenue Accounting to join our finance team. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting, this role will oversee the entire order-to-cash cycle and support our monthly close and annual audit processes. Key focus areas within the order-to-cash cycle include Accounts Receivable (AR), Billing, Collections, Reward Pool, Deferred Revenue, and more.

    The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of ASC 606 and be familiar with key systems such as Salesforce (SFDC) and NetSuite. Experience with SaaS, subscription, or recurring revenue-based revenue recognition is a plus. We are looking for someone with a "roll-up-the-sleeves" attitude, capable of multitasking and thriving in a fast-paced startup environment.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities 


    Day to Day Activities
    Coordinate accurate and timely month-end close processes for the order-to-cash cycle in accordance with the accounting close calendar (monthly, quarterly, and annually), including preparation, review, and approval of relevant monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
    Oversee key subprocesses within the order-to-cash cycle, including Accounts Receivable (AR), Billing, Collections, Reward Pool, Deferred Revenue, and more.
    Review the work of a senior account who will support the full order-to-cash cycle.
    Be responsible for all ASC 606 revenue recognition determinations, including reviewing all sales contracts, related documentation, and reporting during month-end close.
    Approve all sales orders in NetSuite (via SFDC) and collaborate cross-functionally with sales operations.
    Review monthly sales tax nexus, filings and reconciliations
    Prepare monthly revenue/ARR fluctuation analysis 
    Improve and implement best practices across the monthly close processes.
    Develop and maintain effective internal control processes suitable for a private growth-stage company.

    Ad-Hoc Activities
    Develop and maintain  a playbook that includes a detailed reconciliation between payment platforms (PayPal, Trolley, Kraken, etc.), the Crowd Control Platform and SFDC.
    Contribute to the preparation of timely, accurate, and meaningful internal and external financial statements and management reports.
    Partner with business unit leaders to review customer contracts and perform initial assessments of appropriate revenue recognition treatment.
    Participate in ad hoc projects requiring specialized technical accounting knowledge.
    Develop strong business partnerships with business unit, departmental, and internal financial leadership teams.

     

    Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance; an advanced degree is a plus.
    CPA certification is required.
    At least 5 years of accounting experience, including a minimum of 3 years at a national public accounting firm.
    Experience in the software industry or a high-growth technology company is highly desirable.
    Proficiency with the NetSuite ERP system is required.
    Familiarity with SFDC, Stripe, Gainsight and JIRA is a plus.
    Strong technical skills in GAAP and SEC reporting.
    Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley is a plus.
    High proficiency in MS Office, with advanced skills in Excel.
    Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present effectively.
