About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to help build and manage robust data models, leverage data visualization tools to create dashboards, and partner closely with cross functional teams to design data solutions needed to enable financial reporting and operations. 

 

About the Team

You will be joining the Financial Systems Analytics team, which sits within the Finance department at Instacart. This team is responsible for ensuring financial data is accessible, complete, accurate, and timely for downstream consumers. As part of the team, you will be a key contributor in enabling financial data reporting, analysis, and other critical business operations within Instacart.  

 

About the Job

  • Build and regularly maintain data pipelines and models critical to Instacart’s business operation, including those used for financial reporting and analysis 
  • Partner closely with Accounting, Strategic Finance, Data Science, and other teams across the company to understand their most complex problems and develop effective data solutions, including definition and development of supporting data models and architecture
  • Contribute to the optimization, documentation, testing, and tooling efforts aimed at improving data quality and empowering data consumers across the organization
  • Regularly communicate progress, risks, and completion of projects with stakeholders, teammates, and management
  • Work closely with the Product, Data Engineering, and Business Development teams to stay current on the latest product rollouts and their data and financial impacts
  • Promote and drive a self-service data culture by developing self-service data models, building easy-to-use tools and dashboards, and teaching business users how to use them

 

About You


Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in BI, Data Science, or Data engineering
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • AdvancedSQL experience and dashboard building
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize work and deliver finished products on tight deadlines
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate with cross-functional teams, gather information, perform root cause analysis, and recommend solutions to business problems
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for Instacart, your team, partners, and stakeholders

 

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Familiarity with: Snowflake/Databricks/BigQuery or similar data warehouses, DBT/Apache Airflow or similar orchestration tools, Github, and Jira 
  • Familiarity with Visualization Tools: Mode, Tableau, or similar
  • Understanding of financial concepts, common accounting practices, and system solutions
  • Exposure to SOX compliance best practices, including practical applications and experience with ITGCs

The Challenge

We are looking for a strong Technical Business Analyst to join Demyst. In this role, you will be a member of a global team supporting a distributed system providing highly available, real-time data for critical industry applications around the world. You will partner with both strategic clients and Demyst stakeholders to support the full client lifecycle from pre-sales scoping, requirements gathering, data analysis and modelling, client stakeholder management, internal resource project management, testing, delivery, and support.

Your responsibilities will be to support client requirements and be the subject matter expert for the client solutions and data landscaping team.

As a Technical BA, you will lead the delivery of data solutions to our client, working directly with a team based predominantly in the APAC region supporting clients in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, and beyond.

While Demyst is a fully-distributed company and this is a remote-first role, successful candidates are expected to be based in Australia and be able to spend significant time on-site with our Australian clients.


Responsibilities

  • Elicit requirements by interacting with stakeholders (client and internal), identify opportunities for improvement, and translate requirements into designs
  • Solve complex problems and lead process modelling
  • Conduct user needs analysis, offer advice on process improvements
  • Design and position solutions in consultation with Lead engineer to best deliver value to stakeholders
  • Identify requirements, define use cases, and understand data sources that support client data use cases
  • Provide guidance to peers, mentoring, and leading others in complex problem solving
  • Lead client testing efforts. Plan the development of client test use cases and solution execution
  • Lead triaging process of issues relating to the delivered solution raised by client and internal team
  • Organise and facilitate agile ceremonies as required by team
  • Create, maintain, and execute JIRA plans to support delivery.
  • Identify, triage and communicate risks to internal and stakeholder related to delivery.
  • Degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in data science and data-centric solutions
  • Significant experience developing requirements and product specifications for new or existing applications, integrations, or solutions
  • 5 or more years of experience as a BA with a technical focus
  • Exceptional knowledge of usability, application, and operational performance considerations
  • Forward-thinking communication skills to assist with the development of documentation for software solutions
  • Impressive interpersonal skills to work with and contribute to a team environment
  • Technical background and skillset to translate requirements and project manage delivery components
  • Deep expertise in waterfall and agile deliveries
  • Product management and backlog grooming experience
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and ability to negotiate effective solutions
  • Ability to work in a remote / distributed workplace

Job Duties:
