Your mission
We are looking for an ambitious finance manager with relevant hands-on experience to join our finance team. Your mission is to help us further improve the accounting processes and ensure accurate and fast preparation of monthly and annual financial statements. You will work closely with our CRO, external tax advisors, and auditors.
What you’ll do:

  • You work closely with the CRO to develop and digitize the financial processes as well as predict future financial trends.
  • You are responsible for accounts payable and pre-assign business transactions for the tax advisor in our system (moss).
  • You are responsible for the preparation of invoices and you support Revenue Operations in evaluations (Stripe).
  • You are responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and are the first point of contact for the tax consultant when preparing and reviewing the monthly and annual financial statements precisely.
  • Processing of electronic payment transactions.
  • Ensure processes are designed, documented, understood, and followed in a way that minimizes bad or incomplete data.
Your profile
  • 2+ years in a similar role such as accountant, tax consultant/advisor/assistant.
  • Passion for numbers and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of projects.
  • Experience working with Datev is a plus.
  • Exemplary spoken and written English and German, including the ability to concisely present project deliverables.

Role Summary

ProVeg International is a growing network of nine independent legal entities represented in ten countries across four continents (Belgium, China, Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, South Africa, Spain, UK, and US). An eleventh country office will soon be established in Africa and another may join from South East Asia later this year. All entities have finance, personnel or accounting agencies.

We are seeking an experienced and committed International Finance Manager to oversee international financial aspects of ProVeg.They will be a strategic thinker who can make the best decisions in line with our organization’s vision, mission and values. The goal is to guide ProVeg International as a whole towards sustainability, growth and long-term success.

Job Details

Reports to: International Operations Team Lead

Department: International Operations

Location: Remote (ideally in the UK, US, NL, DE, PL, CZ, or ES)

Hours: part-time (20h) - full-time possible if combined with the legal role

Responsibilities
  • Lead on the annual global financial budgeting, and planning process in conjunction with the country finance staff, directors, operations, fundraising teams and the President

  • Maintain and improve quarterly internal monitoring systems to collect detailed financial overviews from all legal entities 

  • Prepare quarterly global (P&L and balance sheets) management reports, including variance reporting (against budgeted values), and annual aggregated financial reports

  • Work with program heads to develop systems and processes for project (bid) costing, project resource allocation, and project resource (time and costs) accounting and reporting

  • Provide an analytical framework to ensure each designated and restricted fund is used in accordance with the terms of the fund to oversee project financial information and payments

  • Ensure that cash flow across the organization is monitored, reported and forecast accurately, working closely with colleagues in finance, fundraising and the incubator teams to challenge assumptions and ensure viable funding levels

  • Remain up-to-date on best practices in non-profit finance, and relevant laws regarding nonprofit operations, implement improvements as needed

  • Ensure financial compliance

  • Identify and address financial risks and opportunities

  • Update and implement financial policies and procedures

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, law or a related field required; graduate degree or CPA preferred

  • Proven experience with a minimum of two years of working in finance t role, ideally in the non-profit sector

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Collaborative attitude, solution-focused, and supportive of international colleagues (particularly Country Directors, Heads and International Executive and Operations team)

  • IT skills, including Office, with advanced proficiency in Excel 

  • Self-starter personality with the ability to work independently and with limited supervision

  • Excellent communication skills in English; additional language skills preferred

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, international, rapidly growing nonprofit work environment

  • Dedication to ProVeg’s mission & vision is required; adherence to a vegan lifestyle is strongly preferred


Preferred:

About the Position:This position will lead the financial management function for the organization. From building budgets and forecasts to the ground up, to pulling the organization budget together. The position will work closely with teams to review their regular financial performance and help them make decisions on how to allocate resources. The Finance Manager will also share financial information actively with the senior leadership team. The Finance Manager will also work to promote best practices around financial management and establish effective financial management processes at NCRP, resulting in a culture of active and effective management of financials.  

 

Financial Management (45%)


  • Track and build budgets and actuals for each of NCRP’s Projects and Departments.
  • Build rolled up budgets and forecast for the organization as a whole, working closely with COO and rest of senior leadership team.
  • Develop financial reports for funders and submit on a timely basis.
  • Administer, Maintain and regularly update our financial planning and reporting software
  • Prepare materials and financial information for finance committee of board of directors.
  • Prepare financial dashboards of key financial indicators to share with staff and senior leadership
  • Ensure that timesheets and expense reports are completed and submitted on time by staff to ensure that the accountant can close the books on a monthly basis.
  • Identify process gaps and operational issues by working closely with teams to find and implement solutions.

 

 

Training and Collaboration (45%)

  • Develop and deliver training on financial management for all staff.
  • Onboard new staff on how financial management is practiced at NCRP
  • Work closely with project leads and directors to help manage their budgets and inform decisions
  • Regularly report up to Senior Leadership team on financial status of the organization as a whole, and inform them of any major discrepancies
  • Work in synch with accountant to ensure that accounting and financial planning system is synched up
  • Work closely with development team to ensure smooth pipeline management, new proposals, and new grant booking and management process.


Support general operations department initiatives and goals (10%)

  • Serve as a liaison to relevant vendors as needed.
  • Other administrative and departmental duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and alignment with NCRP’s values and goals.
  • College degree or equivalent work experience in financial management
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ professional experience in financial management, ideally in a nonprofit or political setting.
  • High comfort level working with databases (familiarity Salesforce a plus) and experience with financial management tools.
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Some experience and familiarity with accounting systems and online tools
  • Detail-oriented and organized, skilled at time management and juggling multiple priorities.
