Classy's Engineering team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our Commerce services team. This team is part of our larger core services group responsible for the design, build, and maintenance of our critical microservices and infrastructure that processes vast volumes of financial transactions measured in billions. The ideal candidate will combine good engineering expertise with product aptitude, is motivated by exciting technical challenges that come with scale, and thrives in a fast-paced, iterative, and collaborative environment. We want to talk to you if you are unfazed by the idea of refactoring to improve our existing systems, and building net-new systems.  

What you’ll do:

  • Be a valued member of an autonomous cross-functional agile team to continuously experiment, iterate and deliver on our technical and product roadmaps
  • Play an important role in building and maintaining a robust, fault-tolerant transactions orchestration layer (e-commerce platform)
  • Contribute to a microservice-based evolution of our platform and architecture
  • Learn and grow your skills by working collaboratively with experienced and engaged developers to design new features and re-architect existing ones.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to improve your software engineering skills using the best software development practices and processes.

What you bring (Required):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years building and maintaining highly scalable backend services in an event-driven architecture
  • Good understanding of distributed software architecture with experience debugging distributed systems with high data loads
  • Experience building RESTful APIs 
  • Experience with Javascript ES6, Node.js/Express, NestJS, or other backend technologies and languages
  • Familiarity AWS solutions (EC2, ECS, Lambda, SNS), infrastructure as code tools (terraform), and containerization (Docker)
  • Ability to understand product requirements and translate them into technical subtasks.
  • High-level proficiency in schema design in relational or NoSQL databases (MySQL, MongoDB)
  • A deep sense of quality, and sharp engineering skills with strong computer science fundamentals.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Front End Engineers to develop features and improvements to Classy

The Role

As a Full-Stack Web Developer on the Digital Experience Team at Addepar, you will play a pivotal role in crafting our web presence, a crucial channel for client acquisition and engagement. You will collaborate with the performance marketing team to improve our corporate website (addepar.com), develop new features, support ongoing requests, and improve our digital roadmap. Addepar takes a market-based approach to pay. A successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on the role, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base salary for roles in Colorado, California, and New York.

The current range for this role is $110,000 - $173,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.

What You’ll Do

  • Build new features and functionality on addepar.com’s content management system using Statamic CMS + Laravel
  • Launch new pages, update existing content, and complete support tickets from across the organization
  • Build plugins and integrate with systems, services, and APIs to bring richer experiences to our users
  • Maintain platform and 3rd party plugin upgrades
  • Develop user documentation of deployment workflows and other key development processes
  • Optimize and improve site performance for all devices. 3-5 bullets

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience in a corporate web management role; preferably for a multinational company.
  • Expert at leading team sprint planning to build roadmaps, prioritize projects, assign resources, supervise progress & resolve bugs
  • Ability to optimally lead large sophisticated projects with many moving elements and constituents.
  • Experience using data to personalize the web experience using modern digital marketing tools.
  • Has worked closely with Design & Development teams to take new pages from idea to deployment with quality & speed
  • Proficient full-stack developer with experience in both front and backend building complex websites using Statamic CMS(or similar CMS platforms like Craft CMS or ExpressionEngine)
  • Experience building in Laravel
  • Experience converting Figma designs to pixel perfect web pages
  • Experience working with HTML and advanced CSS frameworks such as Tailwind, Bootstrap and Tachyons.
  • Sophisticated experience with coding in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, vanilla javascript and templating languages such as Blade and Twig.
  • Experience implementing and configuring build tools like Webpack
  • Experience with Git and deployment automation tools using GitHub Actions
  • Familiarity with DevOps, Cloudways, and Cloudflare
  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or similar technical field of study (or equivalent practical experience.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to help build a reliable web experience for our users. We believe that moving fast is our competitive advantage, and enables us to better serve our users. We also know that the faster we move, the more likely we are to break things.

You Will:

  • Design and implement SRE practices ensuring availability, scalability and observability of production systems with a strong focus on excellent customer experience
  • Actively seek and identify opportunities to improve the availability and performance of the system by applying the learnings from monitoring and observation.
  • Use automation extensively to design, configure, manage, and monitor systems in support of our product development teams
  • Manage Infrastructure through automation (Infrastructure as Code)
  • Manage incidents and emergency response, track outages, ensure data integrity and engineer releases to promote safe, efficient and rapid deployments
  • Handle emergency response either by being on-call or by reacting to symptoms according to monitoring and escalation when needed
  • Improve the codebase by resolving logic issues, deprecating unused code, etc.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, alerting and SLO Reporting
  • Identify Service Level Indicators (SLIs) that will align the team to meet the availability and performance objectives.
  • Perform and run blameless RCAs on incidents and outages aggressively looking for answers that will prevent incident reoccurrence.

You Have:

  • 8+ years as a software engineer, shipping production code.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer. 
  • Experience with service-oriented architectures and microservices at scale
  • Strong proficiency with RDBMS databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, etc.)
  • Strong proficiency in SQL scripting
  • Proficiency developing in one or more languages such as Java, Kotlin, Python, and/or others
  • Ability to use containers and orchestration frameworks (Kubernetes, Docker, Container registries etc.)
  • Proficiency in Git or other VCS
  • Experience with configuring, customizing, and extending monitoring tools (Datadog, Prometheus, New Relic etc.)
  • Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong technical competency, with a data-driven analytical approach towards solving complex challenges
  • Have a systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong and effective communication skills and a sense of drive
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Terraform or other IAC tools such as Chef, Puppet or Ansible
