Etsy, Inc.'s 'house of brands' portfolio has expanded to now include four individually distinct ecommerce brands -- Etsy, fashion resale marketplace Depop, musical instrument marketplace Reverb, and Brazil-based handmade goods marketplace Elo7. As an Etsy employee, you'll tackle unique problems alongside talented coworkers committed to Keeping Commerce Human. We're large enough that you'll focus on meaningful, complex challenges, but small enough that you can make a rewarding impact.

Job Description

We are looking for a product manager to lead either the Etsy Ads buyer experience or seller experience team. Etsy Ads is used by our smallest and largest sellers to grow their businesses, and it is one of our major revenue streams!

Our team is essentially running a marketplace within the Etsy marketplace, solving customer and business problems unique to the space such as dynamic buyer experiences, growing revenue in a customer-aligned way, and ad ranking. With Etsy’s base of 7.5 million sellers, nearly 100 million buyers, and over 75 million items, the product is intellectually stimulating and provides the opportunity to work on an end-to-end product, from the customer experience down to machine learning systems and ad serving infrastructure.

Be responsible for making Etsy Ads competitive through innovative customer experiences. If you find happiness in crafting new shopping experiences, are passionate about helping small businesses invest in their growth, and like thinking holistically about how your product can support the entire business then this could be a flawless match.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Product Management, Etsy Ads. We are considering remote candidates based in the United States of America for this position. Etsy offers three different work modes to meet the variety of needs and preferences of our team: Flex mode for candidates who are comfortable traveling to an office location 2+ times per week, Remote mode, and Office-based mode. Learn more about our flexible work modes and vaccination policy here.

About the Role

In this role you will:

  • Help lead product management for one our most impactful teams and identify which advertising problems we should be solving next for sellers and buyers.
  • Implement a strategy with your cross-functional partners that will address customer problems in a way that meets business goals
  • Collaborate with Etsy Ads leadership on the long-term strategy

Lead work on significant problems such as:

  • Understand our sellers' individual goals and help to meet them
  • Ensure that buyers are seeing an appropriate amount of ads while shopping
  • Take advantage of the first-party nature of Etsy Ads
  • Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! Assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.

About You

Ideally you'll bring:

  • Experience leading product teams working on products based in machine learning. Previous work on ad tech products, search, recommendations, or online marketplaces is a plus.
  • Deep care for the user experience and extensive knowledge of design principles, U/X, and quantitative and qualitative research
  • A track record of successful launches across zero-to-one products, mature products, and products with material business impact.
  • Confidence when participating in technical conversations; the ability to drive consensus and dedication, even when all parties don’t agree.
  • Comfort building relationships with groups across the company, from machine learning infrastructure teams to adjacent experience teams.
  • Outstanding communication with both engineers and company leaders.
  • Appreciation for people who are curious, hardworking, generous, and responsible.
  • A trust in and commitment to Etsy’s vision, mission and values.

Job Description

We are seeking a talented, motivated individual to join our organization as a Product Manager. As a nonprofit startup, our motto from day one has been to beg, borrow, or steal (OK, we never actually steal, but you get the point), particularly when it comes to software. Face it, the world doesn’t need more software; it needs to leverage and weave together the amazing software that already exists, and package it in a way that makes it easy and approachable for workers looking to gain skills. As a key member of our product team, you’ll help develop and manage a cohesive offering for America’s workers.

Because the SkillUp Coalition is a remote organization, the position can be based anywhere.

  • Manage special projects, such as an AI chatbot

This role is a good fit if you:

  • Have about 3-7 years of experience developing products or e-commerce, preferably at a SaaS company

  • Have at least 2 years of experience using web analytics tools such as Google Analytics, FullStory, WebTrends, or similar

  • Have experience acquiring users via paid social and email marketing

  • Have experience running and analyzing A/B tests

  • Are a strategic thinker who can come up with creative solutions or experiments to solve thorny problems

  • Are creative, resourceful, and scrappy. You don’t mind rolling up your sleeves to do the work.

  • Are passionate about workforce development and nonprofit work

  • Like to stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices

  • Are comfortable with ambiguity and continuous improvement processes (experience with agile methodology a plus)

  • Are able to manage multiple projects and stakeholders

This role is NOT be a good fit if you:

  • Are interested in exclusively building new software applications (we try to license existing software when possible)

  • Need things to be certain or stable (at this phase, we’re all about experimenting and learning)

  • Get easily overwhelmed (work/life balance is a core value, but there’s still a lot to juggle, both mentally and tactically, during the workday)

  • Need/want a big staff to work under you (we are small and scrappy by design and satisfy most of our product function needs through partnering within the coalition or outsourcing to vendors)

However, You Absolutely Must...

And while all of the above qualifications are important, there are three demonstrated capabilities most important for this job, and they are non-negotiable (blatantly borrowed from Jeff Weiner of LinkedIn):

  • Dream Big

  • Get Sh*t Done

  • Know How to Have Fun
