Job Description

Database Administrator

We are looking for a talented, energetic, driven and detailed oriented DBA with SQL optimization experience. You will be part of a geographically dispersed DBA team responsible for managing our database environment, and working closely with IT, Engineering, QA, Data and Analytics teams to understand and improve current processes. Deep understanding of SQL is a requirement. Critical thinking and independent problem solving skills are a must.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Create and configure PostgreSQL database servers
  • Monitor and maintain database health and security across various environments
  • Manage access control at various security levels and perform periodic audits
  • Manage backup and recovery
  • Maintain disaster recovery procedures and perform periodic testing
  • Perform regular server maintenance, including upgrades with minimal downtime
  • Configure, support, and monitor database replication for various purposes
  • Provide end-to-end technical support and problem resolution
  • Assist developers with deployment process, schema design, and query optimization
  • Peer Review SQL code for developers
  • Analyze performance issues to determine best solutions to increase performance within the application or server side configurations
  • Uphold database best practices across organization
  • 24x7 on-call support in rotation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work-related experience
  • Expert level knowledge in PostgreSQL, Replication, Database Tuning/Configuration
  • 6+ years of experience in PostgreSQL
  • 6+ years of experience with pg_dump, pg_basebackup and pg_restore
  • 4+ years of SQL development experience - REQUIRED
  • Must be able to effectively optimize SQL statements. Not just index optimization.
  • Must be able to read and write CTE queries.
  • Must understand join operations.
  • Must be able to use and understand aggregate functions in SQL
  • Must be able to write SQL with Advanced Analytical Functions.(Window Functions)
  • 2+ years of experience with pgBouncer, pgBackRest and pgBadger
  • Moderate knowledge of entity relationship model
  • Moderate to advanced scripting skills: BASH Shell, Python, Perl, etc.
  • Knowledge of database best practices in minimal-downtime environment
  • Understanding of capacity planning in a production DB environment
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple and concurrent tasks
  • Flexibility in working hours in line with project deadlines
  • Effective technical and analytical skills
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills are required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and assistance

Job Description

Clarity is looking for a strong Data Management Specialist to join the Data Management Team.  In this role, you will play a central part in capturing and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of consumer data furnished by Clarity’s clients and partners.  This position will interact heavily with all functional teams including Technology, Product Management, Operations, Sales and Legal/Compliance, and will require a desire to build a detailed understanding of Clarity’s business and the credit reporting industry.

 

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Monitor data furnishers’ activity to ensure they are reporting to Clarity and/or meeting or exceeding Clarity reporting standards.
  • Establish and evaluate trend analysis on assigned data furnishers based on reported data performance.
  • Preform manual data reviews by evaluating actual reported data records in a live real-time environment
  • Analyze positive/negative reporting trends and recommend changes for process improvement.
  • Complete ad-hoc reports and special projects when assigned.
  • Develop and implement corrective action remediation plans for data furnishers not meeting Clarity reporting requirements and/or compliance issues.
  • Enforce formalized Clarity procedures around the Data Furnisher Monitoring policy.
  • Conduct and administer review audits of assigned data furnishers.
  • Communicate and work directly with internal cross-functional departments and data

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in either business/economics or mathematics/statistics with an understanding of risk analysis.
  • Experience in SQL or SAS.
  • Experience in data monitoring tools such as Tableau or other software monitoring tools.
  • Basic project management knowledge and experience in a SCRUM environment.
  • Self-motivated, comfortable taking initiative, and eager to take on challenging projects. 
  • Strong communication skills in both written and oral/presentations.
  • Ability to work well with all stakeholders both internal and external.

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of data loan reporting into a credit reporting agency (CRA) following FCRA and CFPB guidelines is recommended.
  • Knowledge of the overall financial/banking service industry is a plus but not necessary.
