About the Role:
Gusto is seeking a seasoned Salesforce Technical Architect to join our BizTech Salesforce Team. This senior-level role is pivotal in optimizing our Salesforce implementation, ensuring scalability, and leading the team in building robust solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Leadership: Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable Salesforce solutions. Provide technical guidance and architectural oversight for the Salesforce platform.
- DevOps Optimization: Streamline the DevOps process, enhancing continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
- Code Optimization: Review and optimize existing code for performance, maintainability, and scalability. Implement best practices for coding standards and development processes.
- Solution Scalability: Ensure all solutions are built with scalability and future growth in mind.
- Code Reviews: Conduct comprehensive code reviews to maintain high code quality and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Technical Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation for all solutions.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Security: Implement robust security practices to safeguard data and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Integration: Manage and optimize integrations with other business systems and third-party applications.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 8+ years of hands-on Salesforce experience.
- 4+ years of experience as a Salesforce Architect.
- Extensive experience with Salesforce development using Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Components (LWC), and SOQL.
- Proven experience with Salesforce DevOps practices, including CI/CD.
- Strong understanding of when to use code vs. declarative (flows) solutions.
- Technical Skills:
- Apex, Visualforce, Lightning (LWC)
- Salesforce integration tools (MuleSoft, Workato, Heroku)
- Data modeling and management
- Salesforce security and governance (profiles, permission sets, sharing rules)
- DevOps and Release Management
- Advanced knowledge of Salesforce API and integration patterns
- Preferred Certifications:
- Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA).
- Salesforce Certified Application Architect or System Architect (Preferred).
- Salesforce Platform Developer II certification.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the HR and payroll domain.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
- Knowledge of modern web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Web Components.
- Certified Scrum Master or Certified Product Owner.

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $164,000-$204,000 in Denver & most remote locations, and $199,000-$247,000 for San Francisco & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience, level, and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 daysper week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.
Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.
When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required.
