About the role:

We are currently a team of 17 individual contributors, who are embedded into collectives i.e Core Banking, Business Banking etc, working cross functionally with Product Design, Product Management and Engineering teams. Our research organisation is led by Hayley Camille Morgan and Katherine Vaughan, our Directors of Research

 

????You’ll play a key role by

  • Plan and run qualitative studies, including field observations and interviews, diary studies remote and in-person concept testing and usability studies for existing and future products.
  • Identify actionable insights through quantitative methods such as large scale surveys, and use basic statistical concepts to ensure findings are robust
  • Evaluate and explore information architecture, using tree-tests, card-sorts and whatever other methods are appropriate

????We’d love to hear from you if

  • Work closely with Product Managers, Product Designers, Engineers and other User Researchers to generate hypotheses and plans for high-impact research that helps us better understand our existing and potential customers and how to create a better product that solves their problems and meets their needs.
  • Lead the research for your squads, suggesting the best approach and methods to use so we’re capturing the right insights that help us grow and develop our product in our mission to Make Money Work For Everyone.
  • Collaborate closely with our analytics team to make sure our qualitative insights are also enhanced by robust quantitative analysis whenever possible, and run some basic quantitive analysis yourself
  • Mentor and train Product Managers and Product Designers to run their own lightweight "disposable" research, freeing you up to do the high-impact work.
  • Communicate research findings to inform business decisions through the best possible means ranging from presentations, workshops, reports or whatever mechanism gets the insights into our decision-making.

  • You’ve got lots of hands-on experience with exploratory and evaluative qualitative research methods, appreciating their limitations and when to apply them appropriately.
  • You've worked in a multidisciplinary team environment before, where you've lead the research and made demonstrable impact on the direction of the product or service.
  • You can run user testing with your eyes closed, regardless of the setting. You should be comfortable in a lab as well as stopping people in the street for quick feedback or setting up remote tests.
  • You're happy user testing on mobile. We’re a mobile-only bank, so if you’ve got experience with both iOS and Android we’ll love you even more.
  • You appreciate robust research study design, but can also consider practical constraints and business goals – you understand what 'just enough research' means.

  • Recruiter call (30 minutes). A video chat with Natalie who is part of our hiring team.  This focuses on general suitability and fit for Monzo.
  • Research methods (60 minutes). You will be sent a pre-interview task by the hiring team, which you will discuss in the interview, followed by situation questions.
  • Final loop (Total 90 mins ). Split into 2 interview - Teamwork & Impact.

      This is an exciting time to join Remote and make a personal difference in the global employment space as a Senior Product Designer joining our Mobile App Team.

      The mobile team works on crafting the greatest experience for employees and contractors who use Remote’s platform. On this team you will drive innovation and excellence for mobile users taking full advantage of native mobile platforms to provide on-the-go functionality that simplifies working with Remote. This is an exciting and impactful team to work on - you will get to consider and design for many touch points across the employment lifecycle - from expenses and time tracking to pay and invoicing - the work on the mobile team has many facets and challenges to inspire you and drive your growth as a designer. You will work a thriving cross-discipline team of designers, developers and PMs.

      What we are looking for:

      • 5+ years of related product design experience, ideally with the Fintech or HR tech space. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience designing complex solutions for complete digital environments.
      • 3+ years experience designing for native mobile platforms, demonstrating a deep understanding of native mobile platforms
      • An impressive portfolio featuring iOS and Android native designs that deliver strong results for both the business and for end users
      • Past work that demonstrates your design craft via simplicity, typography, interaction design and UI design
      • Case studies that help us understand your full end-to-end design process from insight gathering through to defining the customer problem, conceptual design, delivery, measurement and optimization.
      • Evidence of close collaboration with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements and provide creative, thoughtful solutions.

      In this role, you will:

      • Design exceptional mobile products from end to end, participating in all phases of design, from discovery and definition to delivery and optimization.
      • Create Figma flows that range from low-fidelity wireframes to prototypes and full-fidelity, pixel-ready designs that lead to intuitive user experiences.
      • Maintain your familiarity with both Google’s Material Design Guidelines and Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines, and the role they play in native app design.
      • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to the features and functions of our native mobile apps.
      • Take a user-centered design approach. Help the organization understand the needs, challenges, and wishes of customers today and in the future.
      • Collaborate on project briefs and scoping. Partner strategically with Product Managers and Engineers to generate ideas and viable solutions.
      • Work directly with the engineering teams to implement new features and iterations and ensure quality standards are met.
      • Have a keen ability to create work autonomously to package and present solutions to the broader creative team quickly and superbly.
      • Contribute to creating and maintaining our design system, participate in team critiques and reviews, assist in user research, organize customer events and design workshops.
      • Help increase our design maturity as a team - drive yourself and your peers to deliver the best quality of work, while embracing and encouraging new methods and ways of working.
      • Contribute to our design culture - mentor and inspire, give and seek feedback in order to continually raise our bar for quality.

      The base salary range for this full-time position is $51,500 - $173,900K. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location, and our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay for the successful candidate in this role is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range may be subject to change.

      Job Description

      The Director, MSEs successfully leads a team responsible for managing, creating, designing, implementing, turning up and life cycle support for AireSpring’s services. AireSpring’s extensive product suite is constantly evolving to meet the needs of the medium enterprise market. The MSE (Managed Services Engineers) are a critical team as they build, implement, and maintain the solutions that solve customers’ business problems, providing them with peace of mind. Organized in PODs, MSEs provide a single point of contact for AireSpring customer’s technical matters throughout their lifecycle knowing the details of the customer and owning the implementation.  MSEs partner with the AireSpring Project Management team as well as numerous other AireSpring departments to successfully implement solutions. Often the Director and team members collaborate and coordinate with Sales Engineers prior to sales are completed, to ensure a smooth implementation.  Collaboration with Product Development on new product launches, IT for innovation, internal support and system integrity, and Network Operations for technical alignment are also key functions for the Director.    Interfacing regularly with channel sales, partners, and customers to support highly technical requirements is an ongoing part of the role too. 

      The successful Director, MSEs duties will include but are not limited to:

      • Provide leadership for the MSE team along with corresponding Managers, Supervisors and Leads.

      • Assure optimal workflow of their employees,  team schedules and delegating tasks.
