Brainspire Solutions is a custom software development consulting firm located in Denver, Colorado.  We have been contact by one of our partners to fill an Infrastructure Engineer Role.  The contract position is at least 6 months or more with a possibility of a permanent hire if that is desirable to both parties.  

The client occupies a large space in the social media realm, and everyday millions of people use their products to make connections, discover opportunities, and gain insights.  Their global reach means they get to make a direct impact on the world's workforce in ways no other company can.  

The Infrastructure Engineers fill the mission-critical role of ensuring that the complex web-scale systems are health, monitored, automated, and designed to scale.  You will use your background as an operations generalist to work closely with the development and Data center teams in identifying and resolving production issues.  The ideal candidate will be passionate about an operations role that involves deep knowledge of Linux Operating system, Linux Kickstart, Networking, Distributed Systems and he/she will also believe automation is a key component to operating large-scale systems.

Job Description

This is NOT an SRE role!

The Infrastructure Engineers fill the mission-critical role of ensuring that the complex web-scale systems are health, monitored, automated, and designed to scale.  You will use your background as an operations generalist to work closely with the development and Data center teams in identifying and resolving production issues.  The ideal candidate will be passionate about an operations role that involves deep knowledge of Linux Operating system, Linux Kickstart, Networking, Distributed Systems and he/she will also believe automation is a key component to operating large-scale systems.

While this is a remote position, you will be connecting to the clients physical hardware.  This includes 250,000+ servers and requires current and extensive Linux Kickstart knowledge.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary point responsible for the overall server builds platform
  • Gain deep knowledge of how to scale and manage infrastructure at a large scale
  • Assist in the roll-out and deployment of new products features and installations to facilitate our rapid iteration and constant growth
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure that platforms are designed with "operability" in mind
  • Work closely with Data center technicians within US to troubleshoot, identify improvements with server builds infrastructure 
  • Function will in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Participate in a 12x7 rotation for second-tier escalations

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • 4+ years with Linux Kickstart
  • 4+ years of experience with Linux systems administration
  • 2+ years of experience Python, Go, Ruby, Java, or similar programming language
  • Python experience, specifically for systems automation
  • Experience with configuration management software like Puppet, CFEngine, Ansible
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (including listening, speaking, and writing) and an ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment with other SREs, Engineers, Product Managers, etc.
  • Good RESTful API and systems design sensibilities
  • Experience with general performance tuning and optimization of all aspects of platforms and services (systems, network, code)
  • Experience in troubleshooting that spans systems, network, and code
  • Broad understanding of Internet protocols and network programming

Job Description

A Staff AWS Data/ML DevOps Engineer is a hands-on technical position on our DevOps team with a specialization in Data, Data Management, and Machine Learning.  Your role will be to architect and implement data pipelines, data lifecycles, data migrations, data governance, and guidance for data engineers.  

The client's platform has been implemented using "Infrastructure as code" concepts.  Advanced skills in Python or equivalent are necessary.  The candidate will be responsible for enforcing best practices in automation deployment, security, infrastructure, AWS, etc.  A successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities may change depending on business needs.  Past experiences on a DevOps team are a must.  Familiarity in Agile practice is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect, implement, document, and support CI/CD ML pipelines
  • Work with Data Engineering teams and architects to create solutions for their business needs
  • Automate security controls and governance for all Data types in our envionment
  • Architect, deploy, document, and support cloud platform capabilities using AWS best practices
  • Author Agile stories, estimate story points, assist with sprint planning and retrospectives
  • Perform advanced technical troubleshooting for cloud and e-commerce environmnets
  • Participate in on-call rotation with the team

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years supporting DevOps concepts
  • Production experience with public cloud (AWS, Google, or Azure - AWS strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps CI/CD tools (ie: AWS Codebuild, AWS Codepipelines, Travis CI, Harness IO, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Nexus OSS, Arifactory, Github, Github Actions, etc.)
  • Experience in the following technologies for ML/Data: AWS Sagemaker, AWS Sagemaker Pipelines, AWS Sagemaker Model Monitor, AWS Sagemaker Clarify, Hadoop, Spark, Scala, Kafka, AWS EMR, AWS Glue, Apache Airflow
