    Purpose of the role

    In this role, you will join Proton's dedicated DevOps team, bringing your enthusiasm, knowledge, and ideas to improve and scale our deployment processes.             Purpose of the role

              Our anti-abuse group is responsible for protecting Proton users and infrastructure from attack by bad actors. We have built custom systems that detect suspicious behavior or traffic and then automatically mitigate them in real-time. Some examples of what we deal with include blocking bulk signups, preventing attackers from compromising user accounts, disabling spammers that abuse ProtonMail, and mitigating DDoS attacks. In order to build and operate these sophisticated solutions, the group consists of a mix of software engineers, site reliability engineers, machine learning engineers, and analysts. For high availability and reliability, the group is split across multiple time zones to support 24/7 coverage.

              • Build new features for our abuse detection and prevention systems to improve on bulk signups, spammer detection, account security, DDoS, etc.

                Purpose of the role

                We operate our own private infrastructure, which is distributed across multiple data centers in Europe. This infrastructure, built primarily on open source technology, is operated 24/7.


                The Infrastructure Department is looking for a Data Center Logistics and Operations Manager to report to the Head of Data Center and Hardware team. You will collaborate on a daily basis with the network team, engineering teams, third-party vendors, shipping companies, professional staffing services, etc.


                You will ensure that our facilities run under the agreed SLA (temp, humidity, power, cooling, etc.) and will also be responsible for the performance of logistics, inventory management, and operations functions serving our data centers. You will also be a part of the team performing capacity planning of data center facilities (locations, space, power, cooling, network, etc.).

                In this role, you will focus on creating structure, processes, implementation of programs across data center operations, logistics, shipping, receiving deliveries, order administration, professional service administration, and inventory management.

                You need excellent organization and time-management skills, with an ability to prioritize. A demonstrable knowledge of data center facilities is also required.


                What you will do

                • Supervise professional staffing services and collaborate with third-party or engineering teams to ensure smooth data center operations, deploying and maintaining data center infrastructure.
                • Plan, organize, coordinate, and control all work activities in the data center facilities.
                • Manage warranty replacements; shipping and receiving equipment to and from remote locations and vendors.
                • Submit and track remote work requests.
                • Oversee racking, stacking, and wiring servers, switches, and power distribution units.
                • Define and maintain required components and spare inventory levels.
                • Audit Data Center and storage location(s) as needed, to ensure accurate inventory and reporting.
                • Participate in on-call rotation.
