THE ROLE:

MBI is seeking an organized, motivated Executive Assistant to join our team! The Executive Assistant will have the opportunity to contribute to an innovative broadband and digital equity portfolio. This position will play a key role in providing operational support across all MBI programs. This is an excellent role for someone interested in learning the ins and outs of a dynamic quasi-public organization with direct exposure to senior leadership and a chance to develop valuable skills in program operations and project management.

The MBI team is delivering Internet for All to the Commonwealth. This is a unique opportunity to join a collaborative team, work on a highly visible economic development priority, and make an impact in the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Coordination & Operations:Work in partnership with MBI Division staff and Mass Tech Departments to support the full program and grant lifecycle including communications, solicitations, stakeholder engagement, and grant documentation including invoices, contracts, and reporting.

Stakeholder Management:Coordinate, track and, maintain the MBI stakeholder database.

Calendar & Schedule Management:Coordinate and manage calendars, including scheduling in-person and virtual meetings, and travel arrangements with precision and consideration for priorities.

Communication Handling:Serve as a point of contact for internal and external communications, ensuring prompt and clear responses, and filtering correspondence to prioritize critical matters.

Event Planning: Participate in all aspects of event planning for Broadband & Digital Equity related events.

Project Coordination & Support:Assist with ongoing projects, taking responsibility for tasks as assigned, following up on deadlines, and preparing reports or presentations as needed.

Meeting Preparation & Follow-up:Organize materials for meetings, take detailed notes, and follow up on action items to ensure completion.

Document & Data Management:Handle program documents, organize online folders, and manage databases to ensure information is easily accessible, clearly organized, and up-to-date.

  • Experience in operational support with two to three years of proven track record in managing day-to-day operations, identifying and resolving issues, and contributing to process improvements
  • Exceptional Organization Skills: Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks efficiently with a sharp attention to detail
  • Effective Communicator: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a professional demeanor
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Sharepoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new software and tools quickly

The Northeast Microelectronics Coalition (NEMC) Hub is a network of 200+ organizations including commercial and defense companies, leading academic institutions, federally funded R&D centers (FFRDCs), and startups concentrated in eight Northeast states working to expand the nation’s global leadership in microelectronics, accelerate domestic semiconductor lab-to-fab prototyping and boost workforce development.

The NEMC Hub seeks a highly motivated and experienced Workforce Development Manager to spearhead the development and implementation of a strategic workforce development and education plan across our multi-state footprint in the Northeast US.

This role is ideal for an ambitious professional who thrives in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. You will leverage your established relationships and expertise in navigating the intricacies of working with federal and state agencies to secure funding and establish robust partnerships. Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with NEMC Hub members and their ecosystem touchpoints to assess current workforce needs and develop a comprehensive multi-state workforce development and education plan aligned with the U.S. Chips & Science Act, the DoD Microelectronics Commons, and the NEMC Hub's strategic goals.
  • Partner with MassTech divisions to leverage existing programs, relationships, and events as applicable.
  • Oversee the implementation of the workforce development plan, including program development, management, and evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain clear performance metrics to track the impact of workforce development initiatives, including both near-term and longitudinal performance.
  • Cultivate and manage strong relationships with federal and state agencies, industry leaders, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations to build a collaborative ecosystem that fosters a skilled and qualified workforce.
  • Champion the NEMC Hub's mission and vision through thought leadership and outreach activities.
  • Represent the NEMC Hub, and MassTech, at state, regional, and national events or tradeshows.

The Director, Center for Advanced Manufacturing, is responsible for leading the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative’s (MassTech) efforts to strengthen the Advanced Manufacturing technology and innovation ecosystem, manufacturing and supply chain base, and talent pipeline across the Commonwealth.

Role & Responsibilities

The Director for the Center for Advanced Manufacturing is responsible for leading the MassTech’s Advanced Manufacturing portfolio of work, while ensuring it is successful in its mission to foster the most complete, connected, and responsive manufacturing ecosystem from innovation through production.

The CAM Director will be responsible for leading CAM’s personnel and activities, including but not limited to, the management and execution of state and federally funded technology, innovation, education, and workforce development programs. The Director will work in partnership with Mass Tech leadership and staff, the Commonwealth’s Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative, advanced manufacturing stakeholders from across the state. These include research and academic institutions, small and medium-sized manufacturers, defense and commercial OEMs, Manufacturing USA Institutes, non-profits, startups, entrepreneurial support organizations, and state elected officials. A key aspect of this role is actively engaging and activating the ecosystem through events, site visits, roundtables, and other convenings.

The Director will work collaboratively to further develop the vision and mission for CAM at MassTech and adjust execution strategy and implementation based on the needs of the Advanced Manufacturing ecosystem and available resources. This includes leading and developing a talented team with diverse backgrounds from industry, education, and manufacturing. Additionally, the Director will explore other grant funding opportunities as they align with CAM’s mission and the needs of the ecosystem.

Existing programs and initiatives within CAM include: The Massachusetts Manufacturing Innovation Initiative (M2I2), the Massachusetts Manufacturing Accelerate Program (MMAP), the Manufacturing Cybersecurity Program, MassBridge (federally-funded), Makers of a Better Future, MassMakes, NERDIC 2.0 (federally-funded), the NextFlex Massachusetts Node.

• An experienced leader adept at collaborating across industry, academia, and government with ability to leverage external and internal input to assess, adjust, and execute on CAM’s mission to strengthen the competitiveness of Advanced Manufacturing in Massachusetts.

• Preferred to also have experience funding/managing external research or projects with academia, small non-traditional defense contractors, and start-ups.

• Successful track record of state, federal, or foundation grant proposal development and awards.

Management and Collaboration

• The CAM Director will work in partnership with Mass Tech Collaborative staff, including members of the CAM division, legal, finance, HR, IT, and other Division Directors in support of MassTech’s mission to strengthen the competitiveness of the technology and innovation economy in Massachusetts.

• Must be able to work in partnership within MassTech to effectively manage and report-out on various program activities, implementation indicators, and impact metrics.

• Ability to plan and operate according to an annual budget with multiple sources and uses of funds spanning multiple fiscal years.

• Understand and work within structured state procurement, grant making, travel, and general conduct guidelines.

• Create and deliver relevant conceptual or technical presentations to large stakeholder groups, speak at conferences and other public events, and present to the MassTech board or other state and federal officials as necessary.

• Skillfully assess new opportunities to support Advanced Manufacturing across the state, and work to design, launch, and implementation of new programs in a timely manner.

• Maintain an entrepreneurial mindset and culture that keeps CAM agile and able to act quickly.

• Travel will be required throughout the Northeast U.S., nationally, and internationally.

Program Director, Quantum Initiative

The Innovation Institute at the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MassTech) works closely with industry, academia, nonprofit, finance and entrepreneurs on building a vibrant ecosystem for technology and innovation in the Commonwealth.  One of the key priorities of the Innovation Institute is to support growth in the state’s quantum technology and innovation ecosystem.  The Innovation Institute has completed an assessment of the state’s quantum ecosystem, hosted the first Quantum Massachusetts Conference, and is making public investments in key quantum infrastructure intended to strengthen the state’s quantum sector. 

The Innovation Institute is currently leading the establishment of the Massachusetts Quantum Innovation Engine (MQIE); an economic development initiative intending to galvanize a transformative interdependent quantum ecosystem to secure the critically important US-based supply chain for quantum, unlock groundbreaking quantum applications with access to a world-leading open-source research community, develop a robust workforce pipeline to meet employer demands and to maintain US quantum supremacy in a competitive global market.  MassTech is pursuing key elements of the MQIE strategy while anticipating continuing to pursue federal funding to more aggressively scale these efforts. A 68 member Pioneer Valley Quantum Innovation Hub Consortium has been organized and a 12 members Advisory Council, launched in 2023, has been meeting quarterly, with affiliated working groups also developing technical requirements and a programmatic strategic plan for a quantum supply chain accelerator.

Role & Responsibilities

The Innovation Institute at MassTech is seeking a Program Director to oversee and support the full spectrum of the organization’s quantum ecosystem development activities.  The focus of these efforts is to further Massachusetts’ position as a global leader in emerging quantum markets and technologies.

The Innovation Institute Quantum Director will be responsible for furthering a statewide quantum ecosystem development strategy and for building and leading the centerpiece of this strategy – the Massachusetts Quantum Innovation Engine (MQIE), a Springfield-centered engine for growth in quantum.  The Director will work in partnership with Innovation Institute and MassTech leadership and staff, along with thought leaders across Massachusetts and New England to ensure the effective design and implementation of quantum programs, services and investments intended to strengthen and support growth in the region’s quantum ecosystem.

Partnership maintenance and growth are key priorities of this role; as such, the Director will mature existing and establish new relationships with research, traditional and non-traditional industry, education and workforce development, and the academic organizations to strengthen the region’s quantum technology and innovation.

The Director will occasionally travel to attend offsite meetings/meetings as required, often inaccessible by public transit

  • Familiarity with the federal landscape in quantum technologies with an awareness of federal acquisition regulations, policies, DFARS, and contract vehicles.
  • Preferred to also have experience funding/managing external research or projects with academia, small to medium sized enterprises, and start-ups.

  • Experience with technical membership trade associations preferred.

  • The Quantum Director will work in partnership with Mass Tech Collaborative personnel, including members of the cross-agency cluster development team, workforce development team, Northeast Microelectronics Coalition (NEMC) Hub program team along with MassTech legal, IT/Cybersecurity, and finance teams.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to build a diverse talent pipeline that meets industry needs and increases access to jobs in quantum and quantum supporting technologies among populations historically underrepresented in the innovation economy.
  • Identify and support efforts to ensure opportunities in the quantum sector are broadly inclusive of the state’s residents, with attention to both currently unrepresented populations and regions.
  • Engage across ecosystem workstreams to identify opportunities for technical and programmatic support and synthesize that learning into actionable initiatives.
