About the Team

We are a product development team full of fun, intelligent, happy, and hardworking engineers, designers and product managers distributed across the United States. We are profitable, funded and giving more high school athletes the ability to play college athletics than any other recruiting tool out there. About the Position

We are looking for a senior front-end developer that will take ownership of maintaining and building new Javascript components, profiling front-end application performance, instilling best practices, mentoring and learning with other engineers, and working with the design team to iterate on our digital design system, style guide, and application user interface.  

This role will guide the front-end development for all client-facing digital products including websites, mobile apps, and other software efforts.

This position will be reporting to the Director of Product Engineering. This is a remote role on a remote team working across the United States. If you are located in NYC, you will have the option to go into our downtown Manhattan Wework office if you choose to. 

You will contribute to solving complex problems that will make our platform even better at connecting thousands of student athletes and college programs. Some interesting projects we’ve recently worked on are:

  • In-browser video clipping and editing for making highlight reels 
  • Robust player search and matching for college coaches 
  • React-native based hybrid iOS/Android app for recruiting events scheduling
  • Tools for partner events to import rosters of athletes with built-in column mapping, de-duping and validation rules to automatically merge duplicate user data 

 

About you:

  • Several years as a professional software developer with experience in 2+ languages
  • Experience in one or more modern MVC frameworks (e.g. Laravel, Rails, Django)
  • Stack alignment isn’t a requirement, but you have the ability to learn and adapt to our tech stack: Vue / Laravel / React Native
  • Built high-quality, performant, maintainable software incrementally and pragmatically
  • Used context-appropriate automated testing to inform software design choices and increase confidence in deliverables and refactoring
  • Debugged, tested, and refactored pre-existing code to incrementally improve it
  • Understands cross-browser issues and debugging
  • Passionate about Object-Oriented Design & clean code
  • Has experience working with relational databases (MySql, SQL Server, Postgresql)

Job Description

You will have experience building and shipping React Native apps in the past, ideally with typescript, while managing other developers on your team. You are familiar with the difficulties of team management, particularly while working remotely, and have strategies to address them.  

You will work closely with the CTO and Senior developers to plan and execute the technical vision.  Numerous challenges await including interfacing with GPS on devices reliably on a tight battery budget, working with the device's camera, NFC and potentially other hardware to assist with the business logic our users are looking for.  Our app must work while offline/no internet, and so there are unique data sync challenges to be overcome. User privacy and data security is a top concern and your experience with best practices in these areas will be an asset.

As the team lead, you will make recommendations for team additions and assist in interviewing and selecting candidates to join this team and the web/backend teams, as well as assist team members with technical designs and provide mentorship as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience developing for Android and iOS using React Native 

  • Experience in using Typescript, ideally with React Native (or other typed languages)

The Role

The Role

As a Senior Front-End Engineer at Assignar, you will work closely with Product and Design to implement exceptional experiences for our end-users in both mobile and browser-based clients. Our Time Tracking team is tasked with providing innovative ways to ensure that the right resources show up on site at the right time. This work largely involves collecting data from the field via our mobile application. This process comes with seriously interesting challenges in ensuring we implement everything as offline-first using advanced features of Apollo Client.

We are looking for someone with a passion for all things UI, whether mobile or desktop. While native mobile experience would be a huge plus, familiarity with TypeScript and React will enable a seamless transition to making contributions to our hybrid mobile app (using Ionic). We won’t expect you to work in the Python/Django back-end that powers our GraphQL API implemented in Graphene, but we’ll support you in learning.

We’re looking for:

  • Minimum 5 years professional experience as a Front-End Engineer or Full Stack Engineer
  • Strong front-end development skills, primarily using React & TypeScript
  • Experience developing design systems and component libraries
  • Familiarity with GraphQL and Apollo Client
  • Exposure to configuring tooling such as Webpack and test runners

  • Back-end experience with knowledge of a server based framework (we use Python/Django)
  • Attention to detail and an understanding of UX and UI best practices
  • Native iOS or Android development experience
  • Past experience building offline-first mobile applications

The Opportunity:

The Solutions architect roll will architect connected products and next generation Mixed Play A.I-voice/vision enablers.  The ideal candidate will have experience architecting and developing web, app, and cloud-connected consumer products, and must be able to communicate on a technical level with developers from all technical disciplines.   The role also requires an understanding of A.I/ML especially in the area of vision and voice applications and how these services integrate with mixed-play products.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Spearhead the architectural design of an end-to-end, mixed-play, connected product projects
  • Research and architect new enablers for our mixed-play Software architecture to add to our connected product platform
  • Own and evolve the computer vision and voice A.I. services
  • Research and architect new enablers for computer vision, voice applications
  • Collaborate with diverse enterprise groups to deliver value

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For: 

  • 3+ years in a higher order software development capacity such as technical lead/architect
  • 10+ years of IT experience 
  • Google Cloud Platform / Azure Cloud Experience
  • Experience with GIT, GitHub, Gitlab
  • Experience working with Agile / SAFe Agile process tools
  • Experience training and apply ML/A.I. models to solve cognitive problems
  • Experience with GCP Cloud API backends with technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Go 
  • Experience architecting cross-platform app solutions using tools like Unity, Flutter, React-Native a plus

The Solutions Architect will own the architecture for Mattel’s next generation Mixed Play IOT and A.I-voice/vision enablers.  The ideal candidate will have experience architecting and developing IOT (embedded, app, cloud) products, and must be able to communicate on a technical level with developers from all three disciplines.   The role also requires an understanding of A.I/ML especially in the area of vision and voice applications and how these services integrate with mixed-play and IOT products.

What you will do:

  • Manage a tribe(set of teams) of 30 talented software developers, to help grow and develop them further.
