Job Description

What You’ll Do:

  • Implement frontend user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks like Angular or TypeScript.

  • Facilitate communication between different components using RESTful web services.

  • Manage and interact with databases like MariaDB, utilizing SQL queries for data manipulation and optimization techniques for improved performance.

  • Participate in Agile development methodologies, attending Scrum meetings and delivering incremental updates through CI/CD pipelines.

  • Mentors and facilitates the learning of junior software engineers. Maintain proficiency of team members in new product technologies by organizing formal and informal training

  • Acts as a Backup if required in absence of the Team Lead. Collaborate with other team members to achieve project goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 5-10 years of experience as a Full-Stack Developer.
  • Proficiency in Java, including core concepts, frameworks (Spring, JUnit, Maven / Ant, etc) , and best practices.
  • Familiarity with Progress development tools and technologies.
  • Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (or a similar frontend framework).
  • Working knowledge of RESTful web services and API design.
  • Experience with MariaDB and SQL and database management systems like PostgreSQL.
  • Ability to effectively debug and troubleshoot complex problems.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
  • Experience with shell scripting and Python scripting is a bonus.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Passion for learning and staying up-to-date with the latest technologies.

  • Performance tuning and troubleshooting of various Hadoop components and other data analytics tools in the environment: HDFS, YARN, Hive, HBase. Spark, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Impala, Kudu, Redis, Hue, Kerberos, Tableau, Grafana, MariaDB, and Prometheus.
  • Provide production support to resolve critical Big Data pipelines and application issues and mitigating or minimizing any impact on Big Data applications. Collaborate closely with Site Reliability Engineers (SRE), Customer Support (CS), Developers, QA and System engineering teams in replicating complex issues leveraging broad experience with UI, SQL, Full-stack and Big Data technologies.
  • Responsible for enforcing data governance policies in Commercial and Regulated Big Data environments.

Qualifications

 

To be successful in this role you have:

  • 6 + years of overall experience with at least 4+ years DevOps experience building and administering Hadoop clusters
  • Deep understanding of Hadoop/Big Data Ecosystem. Good knowledge in Querying and analyzing large amount of data on Hadoop HDFS using Hive and Spark Streaming and working on systems like HDFS, YARN, Hive, HBase. Spark, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Impala, Kudu, Redis, Hue, Tableau, Grafana, MariaDB, and Prometheus.
  • Experience securing Hadoop stack with Sentry, Ranger, LDAP, Kerberos KDC
  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines on Cloudera on Native cloud and Azure/AWS environments
  • Demonstrated expert-level experience in delivering end-end deployment automation leveraging Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes or similar technologies.

For positions in New York City, we offer a base pay of $158,500 - $277,500, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.   • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to research, design, and implement robust, scalable infrastructure solutions. Work closely with Engineering teams to optimize application performance and reliability in the infrastructure.

$235,000/year to $265,000/year + equity + benefits

Role Responsibilities: What you'll do
  • Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor infrastructure engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of excellence. 
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to research, design, and implement robust, scalable infrastructure solutions. Work closely with Engineering teams to optimize application performance and reliability in the infrastructure.

Role Requirements: What you need to succeed
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • Proven track record of technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and hiring. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language.

Position Overview

Our customers are at the forefront of some of the most interesting data in the world, using SingleStore DB to push the boundaries every day. To do this well, they leverage the expertise of our Support Engineering Team, composed of technical subject matter experts on the frontlines of critical customer issues. 

This Support Engineering role skews far more towards engineering than typical technical support as you will need to delve into database internals and memory allocators, investigate Linux and host-related configurations, and diagnose SQL query behavior, all in the name of resolving complex database issues. Our Support Engineers are constantly learning a wide range of customer systems and technical concepts and are thrilled by the new and exciting challenges that they encounter regularly. 

To accurately identify the source and solution of an issue, this team will take the time to learn about the customer’s business and systems while helping to improve their fundamental SingleStore and database operational knowledge. This often requires additional research and time spent on learning new technologies and tools outside of SingleStore while also being deeply engaged with multiple departments including development teams, query performance engineering, product management, infrastructure SREs, etc.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide email and live technical support to our enterprise customers, acting as the first line of defense for complex technical issues, bug diagnosis, or resolving critical outages.
  • Identify and reproduce product issues, perform QA, and submit formal bug reports or feature requests to the appropriate Engineering team.
  • Collaborate closely with software developers, sales engineers, and technical account managers to keep all teams up to date with a customer's current issues.
  • Work to streamline and improve various Support and Engineering processes and tools, author new internal run-books or public documentation, and help the team continually improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure customers have a positive support experience during every interaction.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of advanced customer-facing technical support experience.
  • Experience with MySQL or MySQL-like (MariaDB, Aurora, etc) database and SQL Query Optimization. 
  • A solid sysadmin/QA/Testing skill set. That means you are comfortable testing software and finding its limits, hands-on with Linux, checking utilization of system I/O, measuring network throughput, and are comfortable navigating large log files. Bonus points for familiarity with Kubernetes and past Testing/QA experience.
  • Experience with a scripting or coding language. Whether it’s Python, Bash, or Go, you should have a go-to solution for quick and dirty problem-solving and be able to navigate through our code base.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and AWS/GCP. You understand how organizations deploy and maintain distributed applications and services across multiple machines Bonus points for knowing how to analyze them for performance bottlenecks and remove single points of failure.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Have the ability to explain technical concepts to a wide range of end-users.
