Senior Content Designer

UpworkRemote

Upwork is hiring a Remote Senior Content Designer

Upwork ($UPWK) is the world’s work marketplace. We serve everyone from one-person startups to large, Fortune 100 enterprises with a powerful, trust-driven platform that enables companies and talent to work together in new ways that unlock their potential.

Last year, more than $3.8 billion of work was done through Upwork by skilled professionals who are gaining more control by finding work they are passionate about and innovating their careers.

This role reports into the Director of Content Design and sits within the UX design team at Upwork.

As a Senior Content Designer, we'll rely on you more for your thinking, logic, and holistic system understanding, than just your writing. In fact, a seasoned UXCD knows that writing is the very last mile of the job. You'll facilitate collaboration and use data and research to meet the needs of our users. You'll represent content design across the company, creating better outcomes for the people we serve. You'll do all this as part of a thriving and energetic remote team that has great benefits and values diversity and inclusion.

Now is a perfect time to join Upwork. Our platform gives businesses—large and small—a flexible workforce. Beyond that, we're seeing organizations invent new ways of working they had never before thought possible. We are the world's work marketplace, and we're planning to open up in even more areas throughout the coming year. As businesses escape the constraints of limited resources in record numbers, independent talent is turning to Upwork to set a new course for their lives.

 Your Responsibilities:

  • Turn complex, ambiguous inputs into clear flows and architecture that aligns with our brand, product design and content design principles
  • Communicate your work persuasively, helping a variety of audiences understand and believe in your decisions
  • Own a sprint-based backlog of work for your domain, proactively managing your workload and tracking tasks across multiple teams
  • Partner closely with your team, which includes design, product management, and engineering
  • Write usable, useful, and responsible product copy based on guidelines, research, brand understanding, best practices, and more
  • Present your work for critique to other content designers, executives, and your teammates
  • Advocate for Upwork's content design practice by establishing new workflows and coaching co-workers
  • Lead workshops and co-creation sessions to build shared understanding
  • Translate UX research into language that anticipates needs and makes the experience easier to understand
  • Get feedback with grace and humility, using it to improve your work and soft skills

What it takes to catch our eye:

  • A portfolio is required. While we're not picky about the format, we want to see your thought process, how you solved problems, and the impact you made.
Proven experience as a product-focused UX content designer or (further back in your experience) as a UX writer or content strategist
  • The ability to advocate for content design and help others understand its value. Cold facts aren't always enough. At times, you'll need to bring the warmth of a proficient storyteller to get everyone on the same page.
  • Experience using Figma, Miro, Mural, or equivalent design and collab tools. Do we expect you to make mock-ups and mood boards? Not necessarily! But the ability to create flows and representations of logic and product structure are essential to help communicate your work.
  • Examples of visual thinking. We'd love to see concept diagrams, journey maps, sitemaps, IA, and any other examples.
  • Service design skills that will help your team look beyond the interface and focus on what matters to the people who use our platform

The annual base salary for this position in California and Washington ranges from $137,250- $157,750. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position in California and Washington, and individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for the annual bonus plan or sales incentive plan and eligibility to participate in our long term equity incentive program.

Come change how the world works.

At Upwork, you’ll shape talent solutions for how the world works today. While we have physical offices in San Francisco and Chicago, currently we also hire full-time employees in 19 states in the United States.

Procore Technologies is hiring a Remote Software Engineer II (Ruby)

Job Description

What if you could use your technology skills to develop a product that impacts the way communities’ hospitals, homes, sports stadiums, and schools across the world are built? Construction impacts the lives of nearly everyone in the world, and yet it’s also one of the world’s least digitized industries, not to mention one of the most dangerous.

That’s why we’re looking for experienced Software Engineer II (Ruby) to join Procore’s journey to revolutionize a historically underserved industry. In this role, you’ll join our highly collaborative Product and Engineering organization to drive the technical direction of our projects.

This position reports to the Software Engineering Manager and is located in Cairo, Egypt. We’re looking for someone to join us immediately.

What you’ll do:

  • Evolve our existing codebase from a monolithic Rails application into a modular system with clear, well-enforced domain boundaries and a coherent public interface
  • Participate in designing and building a system that aligns with Procore’s technical vision of a service-oriented architecture
  • Work up and down the stack to ship code for our Rails backend and our React frontend, and dive deep into the database layer to handle complex querying needs
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and UX to design and build solutions that delight users and solve critical business problems
  • Serve as a leader and mentor to more junior engineers within your team

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, a related field, or comparable work experience
  • 3+ years experience in Object-Oriented Program fundamentals, Test Driven Development and Design principles
  • Experience designing and building software in a Service-Oriented Architecture
  • Track record of anticipating technical problems that will fall out of major projects and designing solutions to overcome those problems
  • Experience working with our stack of Ruby on Rails, React, and PostgreSQL
  • Strong experience documenting and bringing team clarity to complex solutions
  • Time-honed expertise with modern web development across the entire spectrum of development, testing, staging, deploying, and monitoring
  • A curious mind driven to innovate and solve customer problems

You should have a well-rounded content design practice, ideally including aspects of information architecture, UX design (especially information hierarchies and user flows), and evaluative research. You should be able to demonstrate how you’ve had structural and strategic impact on your past projects.
