Job Description

As a Systems Engineer in the company’s Business Process Automation CoE Team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the overall health, performance, availability, and capacity of several automation tools and platforms. Your responsibilities will encompass support and proactive system improvements, incident and change management, automation, and ensuring the availability and performance of mission-critical services.

  • Ensure end-to-end availability and performance of mission-critical services.
  • Providing L2 support for users.
  • Handling of incident and change management requests.
  • Proactively seek systems improvements through performance monitoring and capacity analysis.
  • Implement and manage container architecture using tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Administer and support SQL database engines such as PostgreSQL, MSSQL and Oracle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a DevOps/Systems Engineer.
  • Experience with container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Experience with SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MSSQL, Oracle).
  • Familiarity with Azure Cloud services and networking configurations.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Strong knowledge of scripting languages such as: Bash, PowerShell and Python.
  • Experience and understanding of monitoring tools and practices (LogicMonitor, Nagios, Zabbix).
  • Experience with configuration management, CI/CD tools, and automation tools.

Box's Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) is responsible for managing Box's security incidents. Box presents a unique opportunity to be a part of building our global security team at massive scale. You will also be responsible for:

    • Responding and investigating security alerts

    • Recognizing trends in alerts to help strengthen Box's security posture and provide suggestions for enhanced alerts and detection coverage

    • Executing and delivering work towards long-term goals and initiatives to support Box's overall security posture

    • Adapting to change and effectively organizing work according to business priorities

    • Sharing your knowledge with the more junior members of the team

WHO YOU ARE

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical, engineering, IT or a cybersecurity related field or equivalent and 2+ years related experience

  • A pulse on the tools, tactics and procedures the bad guys are using today and the platforms they may be attacking. This includes AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, CI/CD Pipelines & Build Processes, service integration, generalized infrastructure familiarity, and serverless architectures like Lambda, etc.

  • Experience with formal security models like MITRE ATT&CK or CIS Critical Security Controls

  • You can perform analysis of large amounts of data and can come to logical conclusions involving that data

  • You work well with the unpredictable, ever changing threat landscape that exists in cybersecurity

  • You can perform independently to collect data, perform analysis, and research findings to determine if abuse or exploitation occurred

  • You are collaborative with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

  • Provide independent research for product features. 
  • Conduct independent research for the larger security community. 

What you’ll need: 

  • Expert understanding of fundamental security concepts with a focus on application security in particular. 
  • Able to investigate, understand, and contextualize a wide array of vulnerabilities and be able to explain them at a technical depth appropriate to audience. 
  • The skills to reverse engineer or otherwise assess a CVE, reproduce the vulnerability, and pinpoint the affected source code. 
  • Familiarity with modern SDLC practices, cloud-based architecture, and deployment patterns including technologies such as git, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, GitLab), Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, etc. 
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to discern what’s important as well as the ability to present those findings. 
  • Prototyping tools for analysis and software hacking problems.
