As a Staff DevOps Engineer-Hadoop Admin on our Big Data Federal Team you will help deliver 24x7 support for our Private Cloud infrastructure.

The Big Data team plays a critical and strategic role in ensuring that ServiceNow can exceed the availability and performance SLAs of the ServiceNow Platform powered Customer instances - deployed across the ServiceNow cloud and Azure cloud.  Our mission is to:

Deliver state-of-the-art Monitoring, Analytics and Actionable Business Insights by employing new tools, Big Data systems, Enterprise Data Lake, AI, and Machine Learning methodologies that improve efficiencies across a variety of functions in the company: Cloud Operations, Customer Support, Product Usage Analytics, Product Upsell Opportunities enabling to have a significant impact both on the top-line and bottom-line growth. The Big Data team is responsible for:

  • Collecting, storing, and providing real-time access to large amount of data
  • Provide real-time analytic tools and reporting capabilities for various functions including:
  • Monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting
  • Machine Learning, Anomaly detection and Prediction of P1s
  • Capacity planning
  • Data analytics and deriving Actionable Business Insights

  • Responsible for deploying, production monitoring, maintaining and supporting of Big Data infrastructure, Applications on ServiceNow Cloud and Azure environments.
  • Architect and drive the end-end Big Data deployment automation from vision to delivering the automation of Big Data foundational modules (Cloudera CDP), prerequisite components and Applications leveraging Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes to deliver end-end deployment automation across all ServiceNow environments.
  • Automate Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) data pipelines for applications leveraging tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, and Docker.
  • Performance tuning and troubleshooting of various Hadoop components and other data analytics tools in the environment: HDFS, YARN, Hive, HBase. Spark, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Impala, Kudu, Redis, Hue, Kerberos, Tableau, Grafana, MariaDB, and Prometheus.
  • Provide production support to resolve critical Big Data pipelines and application issues and mitigating or minimizing any impact on Big Data applications. Collaborate closely with Site Reliability Engineers (SRE), Customer Support (CS), Developers, QA and System engineering teams in replicating complex issues leveraging broad experience with UI, SQL, Full-stack and Big Data technologies.
  • Responsible for enforcing data governance policies in Commercial and Regulated Big Data environments.

Qualifications

 

To be successful in this role you have:

  • 6 + years of overall experience with at least 4+ years DevOps experience building and administering Hadoop clusters
  • Deep understanding of Hadoop/Big Data Ecosystem. Good knowledge in Querying and analyzing large amount of data on Hadoop HDFS using Hive and Spark Streaming and working on systems like HDFS, YARN, Hive, HBase. Spark, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Impala, Kudu, Redis, Hue, Tableau, Grafana, MariaDB, and Prometheus.
  • Experience securing Hadoop stack with Sentry, Ranger, LDAP, Kerberos KDC
  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines on Cloudera on Native cloud and Azure/AWS environments
  • Demonstrated expert-level experience in delivering end-end deployment automation leveraging Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes or similar technologies.
  • Good knowledge of Perl, Python, Bash, Groovy and Java.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux internals (Centos 7.x) and shell scripting
  • Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment

GCS-23

For positions in New York City, we offer a base pay of $158,500 - $277,500, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs.   Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located, and is subject to change based on work location.

Job Purpose

Duties and Responsibilities

Your skill-set:

The Role

Agile Six is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a collaborative team working with the Department of Veterans Affairs to help expedite the delivery benefits to Veterans. By delivering high quality, functional software informed by user feedback and research, our team will increase access to health care, directly impacting and improving the lives of Veterans.

The successful candidate will be designing and developing web services and other components using message brokers (RabbitMQ) within an open source project and ecosystem. We are searching for someone who embraces open source software and an open ethos regarding software development. As a part of our team, you can expect to work on important problems that have a lasting impact on millions of users and make a difference in our government!

Responsibilities

  • Contribute as part of a cross functional Agile team to build a large, scalable web application in an open source ecosystem
  • Write components and services using software development principles and best practices
  • Design and build software components with an eye towards modular, extensible, and scalable design
  • Provide guidance and informal leadership to other teammates through code reviews, pair coding, mentorship, etc.
  • Leverage emerging technologies and practices around DevOps, cloud services, AI, automation tools, etc. where appropriate in the course of daily work to improve efficiency and/or quality
  • Demonstrate strong communication and team collaboration skills
  • Write automated unit tests and integration tests, and assist in manual testing as needed
  • Contribute to software design through the development and communication of solutions, as well as build consensus through diagrams and other forms of presentation
  • Work with a Product Owner to ensure that work is accurately described and appropriately prioritized, including providing input into product roadmaps, product and sprint backlogs, and user stories
  • Support the practice of engineering within the larger company as needed through activities such as:
    • Assisting in outreach, recruitment, and hiring efforts
    • Occasionally participating in or otherwise supporting business development efforts, including code or design challenges, writing or reviewing proposal responses, etc.
    • Participating in communities of practice

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of production experience with a variety of programming languages, including Java and Python
  • Demonstrated experience with Spring and Gradle (or a similar open source build automation tool)
  • Expert-level understanding of common design patterns and software development principles, and how to apply these effectively in day-to-day software development
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one area of the software stack and/or language/platform, coupled with a broad understanding of the software landscape (T-Shaped expertise)
  • Experience working on an Agile team, delivering on an agile cadence, and demonstrating an Agile mindset.
  • Ability to work independently on high complexity tasks
  • Experience in an open-source, collaborative development environment
  • Has lived and worked in the United States for 3 of the last 5 years

The Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) team collects signals and data on a massive scale translating them into actionable intelligence that helps drive SecurityScorecard’s flagship security ratings and Attack Surface Intelligence products. About the Role:

This contractor role focuses on the design and development of systems dedicated to distributed data collection and Internet scanning. Responsibilities include overseeing the management of collected data feeds, which are integrated into SecurityScorecard's processing pipeline and scoring mechanisms to enhance the Ratings Platform. A central responsibility of this role is enhancing and expanding the capabilities of web crawling and data collection systems. This includes scaling these systems to handle higher frequencies of web scans and integrating extensive datasets from millions of companies into the Ratings Platform. Moreover, the position is focused on pioneering and refining techniques for efficiently operationalizing the gathering of comprehensive web-based and Internet-wide data and threat intelligence.  This is a remote role located in Canada, LATAM or US only.

Please note that this is a 9-12 month contract position.  

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience with low-level languages (e.g. Go, C, C++)
  • 3+ years of experience with Scripting languages (e.g. Python, Ruby)
  • Experience with SQL (e.g. Postgres)
