Job Description

The Field Service Engineer is part of a group of personnel working to provide support to users of existing

Services in order to:-

  • Address issues with a supported Service that have been identified to the Service Desk
  • through the Incident Management process
  • Effect changes to the supported infrastructure that resolve Incidents and Problems
  • Assist with implementing new Services to the customer and, when needed, provide information that can be used for Service Improvement.
  • Provide on call 24/7 on a rota based system.

A vacancy has arisen in our Station End Team, for a Field Engineer to join a small team of field engineers to provide support London Fire Brigade, mobilising systems. You will be based from home supporting stations within the greater London area. The successful candidate must respond to support calls within specific timescales in line with Service Level Agreements and, where practical to do so, resolve calls remotely. A proven ability to provide a high level of technical expertise and well as a customer focused approach together with recognised accreditation are essential.

The role would suit someone who has undertaken data cabling and has good IT knowledge and would like to move into a role that would make use of this knowledge.

 The Field Service Engineer will remain contactable via telephone and pager during working hours including on call hours.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in a support role in a fast paced organisation
  • Experience in fault finding / fixing of mobilising devices.
  • Full, clean driving licence essential
  • Experience of maintaining and resolving printer issues
  • 3+ years experience in a field support role in a fast paced organisation
  • Strong PC applications skills/Experience of rolling out devices within strict deadlines
  • Knowledge of networking topologies

  • Technically, you will have experience of Windows operating systems and hardware support knowledge of printers, touch screens and UPS. Knowledge of closed circuit sound systems would be an advantage, as would installation of infrastructure cabling.

  • Minimum of 3 years of customer-facing B2B experience in electrical and mechanical fields.
  • You have a solid technical foundation, particularly in electricity (reading electrical diagrams and plans, API/PLC electrical automation);
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to present complex technical information and issues in a user-friendly manner.
  • Flexible and willingness for international travel.
  • You are at ease with computer programs / PC configuration.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish language skills are a plus
