We are looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join the Learn Team at DataCamp and help us build the best app to learn data science on the planet. Responsibilities

  • Help us build the best platform to learn Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Contribute a significant stake to the technical direction of the Learn product.
  • Work with the latest frontend and backend technologies to solve challenging problems.
  • Improve existing learning features and build new ones from the ground up.
  • Take ownership of several components in our microservices architecture.
  • Interact closely with team members to build things that scale.
  • Inspire and grow the engineers around you through support, coaching, and mentoring.

Qualifications

  • You have 4+ years of web development experience building world-class products using TypeScript, ReactJS, and NodeJS.
  • You can write clean, maintainable, performant, testable code.

In your role, you'll be focused on

As a growing team, we need innovative and passionate Senior Backend Software Development Engineers to join our squads who will be a vital part of our engineering team, responsible for developing product features and collaborating with colleagues in design, product, and engineering. You will take ownership of writing automated tests for your production codes and work with cutting-edge technologies, focusing on tech stacks such as Ruby on Rails and ReactJS. Job requirements
You’re the hero we’re looking for if:

  • You are a highly skilled, senior-level Software Development Engineer (our Senior Engineers typically have 6+ years of experience in Software Development, but we grade based on technical expertise over years of experience)
  • In previous roles, you’ve focused on Server-side and RESTful API Development and integration
  • You’re proficient in at least one OOP language, such as Python, Java, PHP, etc. We’ll upskill you in Ruby when you join
  • You have proven experience implementing, maintaining and deploying full-stack web technologies
  • You have a strong understanding of best practice software engineering processes, testing, and Agile methodology

About the Role:
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will develop applications in our AWS environment, to support revenue-generating, customer facing web applications for our fast-paced global fin-tech business.

You will work closely with the intent and development teams to create products based on business requirements driven through analytics and big data in a hands-on position with a mix of design, coding and infrastructure DevOps.

You will work with modern frameworks such as Nest.js, Next.js and a whole host of AWS services built using the CDK infrastructure as code library.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application Development: Design, develop, and deploy scalable applications in our AWS environment, ensuring they meet business requirements and adhere to high-quality standards;
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to ensure seamless product development from concept to deployment;
  • Technical Leadership: Provide guidance on best practices, code reviews, and mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation;
  • API Management: Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable APls, ensuring efficient data flow between front-end and back-end systems;
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for optimization;
  • Security: Implement and maintain security best practices in all aspects of software development, ensuring the integrity and safety of customer data;
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, ensuring our tech stack remains modern and competitive.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in Full Stack JavaScript (NodeJS & ReactJS) development, with a proven track record of successful projects;
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge in scalable software application design, API design, and integration;
  • Familiarity with modern web development architectures, especially React/Next;
  • Database Management: Proficiency in both relational (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB);
  • Containerization: Hands-on experience with Docker, understanding the principles of containerization, and its benefits in development and production environments;
  • Testing: Experience with TDD/BDD methodologies, ensuring code reliability and maintainability;
  • Security: Knowledge of secure coding practices, including OWASP standards, XSS prevention, and CORS policies;
  • Authentication: Experience implementing authentication and authorization protocols such as OAuth, JWT, SSO, and Identity Federation;

Your impact

Handshake is hiring a Senior Software Engineer role on the Handshake Promotions Team. In this role, you will contribute to the team’s mission of driving Marketplace Outcomes like attributable hires, impressions and CTR to name a few, through product innovation; acquisition, and revenue generation. This is an exciting space where you will help build the ad engine, forecasting system and bidding platform for promotions on the entire Handshake product.  You will have the opportunities to lead large projects through all developmental stages-- from early brainstorming and requirements refining, visual design, architectural design, experimental design, scoping, execution, and finally release.

Your role

  • Your day-to-day work will feature regular collaboration on a cross-functional team with a designer, product manager and other engineers. You will also engage frequently with engineers, support, marketing and data analysts across the organization.
  • You will architect and build features to promote content like jobs, resumes, on different channels of the Handshake platform.
  • You will lead by example in maintaining a high standard of quality in your own work and in the feedback provided to peers in code review and architecture discussions.
  • You will lend your technical knowledge and experience to influence the team’s roadmap and prioritization of innovation and operational health initiatives such as quality control and on-call.
  • You will provide mentorship to engineers and unblock and support your team to meet deliverables.
  • You will lead sizable individual projects and projects that require multiple engineers. 

Your experience

  • You have experience as a full stack engineer with a focus on backend, and are confident driving architectural decisions on both frontend and backend.
  • You have demonstrated success collaborating with partners in product, design and analytics to define, build, and ship great products and experiences.
  • You have experience leading large projects from idea to high quality delivery.
  • You act with empathy when working with fellow engineers and coworkers, and enjoy providing mentorship and guidance to enable and support your team.
  • You strive for individual and team growth, proactively seeking feedback and identifying areas of the code, processes or procedures that need improvement.
  • You are a strong communicator and can articulate technical concepts and rationale to audiences of varying technical knowledge levels.

Compensation range

$180,000 - $260,000

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Your impact

Handshake is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our Brand Team. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in our mission to build a robust Branding platform that enables nearly 1 million employers to amplify their reach to over 15 million students and 1,500+ educational partners.

Although we’ve already launched a promising MVP, this initiative is just beginning to reveal its potential. As we scale and expand, we’re looking for talented engineers to help elevate our systems and build features that drive significant business revenue.

The platform and features you develop will directly contribute to Handshake’s revenue streams while positively impacting key performance indicators such as engagement and adoption. You’ll lead large-scale projects through every stage of development—from brainstorming and refining requirements to architectural design, scoping, execution, and final release.

Your role

As a Senior Software Engineer, your day-to-day will involve collaboration and impact across multiple domains:

  • Cross-functional teamwork: Work closely with designers, product managers, and fellow engineers to develop exceptional solutions. Engage with teams across the organization, including data analytics, support, and marketing.
  • Build impactful features: Architect and deliver scalable, high-quality features that SMB employers use daily.
  • Lead projects: Own and deliver sizable projects, including those requiring collaboration across multiple engineers and teams.
  • Maintain high standards: Lead by example in producing quality code and providing thoughtful feedback in reviews and architecture discussions. Contribute to organization level technical enhancements.
  • Shape the roadmap: Use your expertise to influence team priorities, balancing innovation with operational health initiatives like quality control,  on-call reliability and technical excellence.
  • Mentor and guide: Provide mentorship to junior engineers, unblocking challenges, and fostering growth within the team.

Your experience

We’re seeking candidates who bring:

  • Extensive experience: 6+ years as a full-stack engineer with confidence driving architectural decisions on both backend and frontend systems.
  • Proven collaboration: Success in partnering with product, design, and analytics teams to define, build, and launch impactful systems and experiences.
  • Scalable solutions: A track record of implementing complex, scalable, and highly available services that power high-traffic platforms across web and mobile.
  • Leadership in execution: Experience leading significant user-focused projects from strategy to delivery with high quality.
  • Empathy and mentorship: Strong interpersonal skills to provide guidance and support to your team, fostering a culture of growth and excellence.
  • Commitment to growth: A proactive approach to feedback and continuous improvement in code, processes, and team dynamics.
  • Effective communication: The ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Bonus areas of expertise

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, ReactJS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with SMB SaaS products or Ed-Tech at scale.
  • Demonstrated ownership mentality and accountability in delivering impactful work.

Compensation range

$180,000 - $260,000

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
