Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design software applications and features in Golang and React
  • Help build out a distributed architecture, creating solutions that work within it, maintaining consistency while scaling highly
  • Coordinate with internal company stakeholders to design market winning products
  • Develop and collect metrics to drive continuous improvement of existing products
  • Deliver high quality features which can be tested and adheres to reporting standards
  • As needed, lead small development teams to bring a project to market
  • Mentor other engineering teammates to help elevate their experience and knowledge

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 7 years of full-stack software engineering experience
  • Experience bringing new ideas and building consensus on the path forward
  • Experience with building and serving REST APIs using Go and Java Python or a similar language.
  • Experience working in a distributed, cloud-based architecture, with either design patterns like transactional outboxes, or queuing tools like RabbitMQ, SQS, Kafka
  • BS in Computer Science or similar degree, or equivalent work experience.

Ideal Skills & Experience (the more the better)

  • Experience with SQL based RDMS through an ORM tool
  • Comfortable using observability platforms like Prometheus, or vendor solutions like NewRelic or Datadog to instrument your code for production monitoring and alerting.
  • DevOps experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with containerized micro-service architecture deployed with Kubernetes on AWS
  • Demonstrated history of delivering commercial APIs and web applications
  • A clear record of getting products to market and prioritizing solutions and improvements based on stakeholder/customer feedback.

Compensation:

For this senior development role, with 8+ years of experience, the compensation range is $4,600 - $7,500 USD per month.   • Work alongside Architects, Software Engineers, ML Engineers, and Data Scientists to develop innovative big data processing solutions for scaling our core product for eCommerce fraud prevention.
  • Take full ownership of our Cloud Platform evolution to support low-latency, high-quality, high-scale decisioning for Signifyd’s flagship product.

 

  • Architect, deploy, and optimize Cloud Solutions to evolve our technology stack, including Multi-Account strategy, best practices around data access, IAM and security rules, and the best approaches for optimized and secure access to our infrastructure.
  • Implement Engineering Enablement automation and best-of-breed solutions for Developer Tooling to support Elite DORA metrics measurements and optimal Engineering Experience.
  • Mentor and coach fellow engineers on the team, fostering an environment of growth and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and address gaps in team capabilities and processes to enhance team efficiency and success.

What You'll Need

  • Ideally has 10-15+ years in cloud infrastructure engineering and automation, including at least five years of experience as a cloud engineering architect or lead. Have successfully navigated the challenges of working with large-scale cloud environments encompassing millions of dollars of computing costs and many petabytes of data storage and process.
  • Deep understanding of best practices and current trends in cloud providers, are comfortable working with multi-terabyte datasets, and skilled in high-scale data ingestion, transformation, and distributed processing; experience in understanding Apache Spark or Databricks is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of Container-based systems such as Kubernetes (k8s), Docker, ECS, EKS, GKE, and others.

The Role

In this role, you'll be given lots of responsibility and the opportunity to have true ownership as we build out the product.   • Develop and govern Observability (Datadog) best practices for tracking platform performance and health trends to meet customer SLAs and lead technical decisions with strong supporting evidence
  • Create solutions that dynamically scale based on demand with enough flexibility to pivot for fast changing project requirements while maintaining a balance of good versus perfect
  • Provide strong and consistent communication updates on technical progress or blockers to keep stakeholders informed while additionally creating appropriate documentation on technical design to spread knowledge and reduce information silos

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for an experienced Backend Engineer with excellent programming skills and a passion for developing applications or improving existing ones, we would like to meet you. 

As an Engineer at Tide, you’ll report directly to the People Manager and Staff Engineer (Functional) and work in a team of highly skilled Engineers.

You’ll work closely with our tech team to ensure system consistency and improve user experience. Ultimately, you should be able to develop and maintain functional and stable web applications to meet both the company’s and our customer’s needs.

We work in an agile fashion, small cross functional squads,  grouped under common domains owning the full lifecycle of some microservices in Tide’s service catalogue.

You’ll bring new ideas, and become an integral part of the process of continuously improving our product.  Outside of working in your squad you will discuss technical challenges, in our differentCommunities of Practice.

Our stack includes - Python, AWS (including Lambda, Fargate, EKS, SQS, SNS, SES and S3), Postgres, Google BigQuery, Terraform and Sentry.

As a Senior Python Engineer you’ll be: 

  • Defining, owning and maintaining the services your team owns from our service catalogue that fall in one of our domains (you design it, you build it, you run it, you scale it globally)
  • Working with the product team to select technology partners
  • Work with backend engineers across multiple agile teams carefully dividing your time between design/refinement, implementation and mentoring other team members
  • Regularly aligning your team’s vision and roadmap with the target architecture within your domain and to ensure the success of complex multi domain initiatives 
  • Working closely with product owners, mobile & web engineers, data scientist and other business members to translate requirements into well-engineered solutions
  • Making key contributions to our Community of Practice. You will apply your extensive experience on our problem domain and existing guidelines to become a true beacon of best practices among your fellow engineers

What makes you a great fit: 

  • Proven work experience as a Python Developer (working with this as a primary language)
  • Basic understanding of software engineering fundamentals (SOLID, ACID, Testing)
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and frameworks such as: Django, FastAPI and Flask
  • Extensive experience integrating with or creating REST APIs
  • (Desirable) Experience working with event driven microservice or message queues
  • (Desirable) An understanding of Salesforce integrations
  • Experience working in Scrum and following Agile development practises
  • Teamwork skills with a problem-solving attitude
  • You’re passionate about learning every day and sharing your knowledge and experience every day
  • Genuinely excited about supporting small businesses, in the UK and in global markets
