Square is hiring a Remote Software Engineer, Front End- Proto

Job Description

The purpose of the Proto team is to accelerate the world’s transition to a more open economy by making products that increase access and independence for everyone. The first two initiatives we’ve identified that represent the biggest impact to this purpose are in the Bitcoin space with bitcoin mining and Bitkey, a self custody bitcoin wallet. While we’re starting there, we don’t believe the need for tools to increase one’s independence is limited to bitcoin or the financial space. One principle across everything we do in Proto is open development – show and tell. We develop products in the open, you can read more about them at bitkey.build and mining.build.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Front-End Engineer to join our team. You will work closely with your peers in design and marketing to brainstorm and implement creative solutions that align with our team goals and strategy.

You Will:

  • Bring experience and knowledge to the team and advance the web discipline at Proto.

  • Help define and implement our analytics and experimentation architecture.

  • Work collaboratively across multiple teams to ship remarkable solutions on a fast-paced team that operates like a startup within a larger company.

  • Evaluate and document engineering standards and patterns..

You Have:

  • BS in Computer Science or a related technical field and/or 8+ years of relevant work experience.

  • An understanding of web standards, browser performance, SEO optimization, and basic UX/UI principles.

  • A history of collaboration with non-technical team members.

  • Skills to work on complex problems with any audience in verbal, visual, or written formats.
