1. Major Gifts, Corporates and Foundations

• Identify and prepare proposals for new revenue streams (think outside the box!), with an emphasis on the climate-food nexus. This includes potential HNWIs as well as large institutions, corporates and climate foundations.

• Identify and develop processes and systems to support the growth of major-donor and foundation income.

• Identify suitable projects within the strategic plan to create the case for support for ProVeg countries and programmes, which fulfill donor preferences and foundation strategic priorities.

• Oversee fundraising events for major donors, and assist the President in managing donor relationships.

2. Management & Leadership

• Lead the International Fundraising team, setting annual goals, providing regular feedback, conducting annual performance reviews, and supporting continuous professional development.

• Mentor country-specific Fundraising colleagues and support ProVeg's country revenue-generation strategies.

3. Development Planning

• Design, develop, and implement a resource mobilization and cultivation strategy for one and three-year periods in collaboration with the President and CEO

Required:

• Minimum of five years’ experience in senior fundraising at a non-profit, preferably with an international focus. A similar or additional corporate background would also be useful.

• Understanding of effective altruism, and up-to-date knowledge of European fundraising trends.

• A track record of identifying and securing significant, multi-year funds from donors (minimum five to six-figures), particularly new donors and foundations. 

• Significant experience in researching and developing strong stakeholder relationships, as well as experience with writing concise reports.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including confident demeanor and experience in engaging with a diverse range of high-net-worth individuals. 

• Proficient CRM skills and familiarity with fundraising tracking tools and project management

• Willingness to travel, approximately six times per year.

• Strong motivation to support the plant-based movement.

• Financial Strategy, Planning and Analysis:Develop and maintain financial models, cash flow and forecasts to support strategic business planning and decision-making.

• Budget Management: Oversee and lead on the annual international budgeting and planning process (involving all ProVeg entities and departments). Administer and review all international financial plans and budgets; maintain all program budgets.

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and present monthly (P&L and balance sheets) management reports, quarterly variance reports, annual financial reports, donor-specific or grant reports, and other income generation reports to the Global CEO, and Senior Leadership Team.

• Audit and Compliance:Coordinate and manage financial audits, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements. 

• Financial Risk & Compliance Management: Seek out methods and practices to minimise financial risk, leverage financial opportunities, and ensure financial compliance with charity laws and other guidelines. Remain up-to-date on best practices in non-profit finance, and relevant laws regarding non-profit operation. 

• Finance Operations and governance: Oversee and improve internal financial policies and procedures such as implementation of central finance software, donations and grants tracking, ensuring value for money by applying internal auditing principles, and advising/supporting country directors and finance managers as well as organisations joining the ProVeg global network.

• Relevant accounting qualification preferred, though candidates qualified by experience will be considered. Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field desirable; graduate degree or CPA preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role, ideally in the non-profit sector. Experience of implementing and maintaining strong financial controls.

• Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, with a track record of strategic financial planning and analysis.

• Proficiency in financial modelling, forecasting, budgeting, and finance operations.

• Excellent data skills, including Google Workspace, with advanced proficiency in Google Sheets and QuickBooks, Xero, or other accounting software. Desirable: experience of implementing new accounting software.

• Calm and professional attitude, high level of integrity, accuracy, and a strong sense for due diligence.

• Support the organisation and coordination of multi-stakeholder projects and actions involving several NGO’s, including the delivery of the Food & Climate Action Group’s joint FAO Roadmap project and Branding project, and private sector partners as well as partnerships with other COP pavilions

• Help unlocking Food Systems Transformation within the UN space through our “Food4Climate” community and support other efforts (lobbying and Youth Board)

• Identify relevant stakeholders involved in international climate change policies at the national level and support outreach efforts

• Monitor political developments within the agri-food space independently and brief colleagues on relevant content and opportunities. This includes reviewing press, social media and relevant websites, evaluating studies, attending conferences, etc.

• Propose ideas for improvements around existing projects and new projects that are in line with the overarching goals of ProVeg

In deze afwisselende baan schakel je regelmatig tussen verschillende aspecten van fondsenwerving. Je draagt bij aan het opstellen van een langetermijnstrategie om nieuwe donateurs aan te trekken en je onderhoudt de contacten met de huidige donateurs en fondsen. Uiteraard sta je er niet alleen voor en kun je op de ondersteuning van het communicatieteam en andere collega’s rekenen. 

Je maakt concrete plannen en stelt ambitieuze doelstellingen voor zowel de online werving van donateurs en giften als het aantrekken en betrokken houden van middle- en major donors. 
Ook schrijf je fondsaanvragen voor onze projecten, onderhoud je het contact met deze fondsen en zorg je voor nauwkeurige rapportages om deze vermogensfondsen gedurende een project op de hoogte te houden. 

Tevens oriënteer je je op andere fondsenwervingskansen zoals bijvoorbeeld nalatenschappen.

Eén van de belangrijkste onderdelen van je baan is het binden van particuliere schenkers aan onze Impact Club. Dit is een besloten club van plantaardige pioniers, bestaande uit filantropen, ondernemers en impact investeerders die bijdragen aan de missie van ProVeg met een donatie vanaf €1.000 per jaar. Als fondsenwerver zul je ongeveer de helft van je tijd stoppen in het relatiemanagement en de communicatie met zowel de leden als potentiële leden van de Impact Club. Samen met onze event manager organiseer je bovendien twee tot drie keer per jaar een evenement om de leden van de Impact club betrokken en enthousiast te houden.

Grants Programme :

• Team-lead for ProVeg Grants team, including direct line management of Grants Programme Manager.

• Oversee quarterly grantmaking process, including reviewing and evaluating proposals, and providing recommendations aligned with ProVeg International’s grantmaking criteria.

• Ensure that all grantmaking is aligned and approved by all decision makers, including CEO, funder network, and Board Members.

Strategic Development:

• Ensure alignment, communication and collaboration across ProVeg International’s wider network and global initiatives.

Monitoring and Reporting:

• Track and evaluate grant programme’s performance against established goals and objectives, providing regular updates to stakeholders.

• Prepare timely and accurate reports for funders, highlighting project achievements, impact, and financial accountability.

• Monitor Grants Programme budgets, expenditures, and timelines to ensure effective utilisation of funds and compliance with funder requirements.

• Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in grantmaking and donor relations in the nonprofit sector is a must.

• Salary: depending on experience and location (up to €55-63k)

(1) Growth management (internationalisation and scaling)

• Direct and support the scaling and internationalisation of key interventions (such as Veggie Challenge Teams, and corporate and institutional engagement (CIE) tools) to influence corporate and policy stakeholders, thought leaders and decision makers across ProVeg countries, and where relevant, beyond.

• Collaborate with departments and country teams to support impactful interventions 

• Support country teams with specific projects, collaborations etc. in the context of CIE, policy/public affairs, and relevant events.    

• Identify synergies between existing interventions across countries (Veggie Challenge, food service engagement, policy, etc.) 

• Ensure internal and external research informs ProVeg’s global policy, and CIE.

• Support and lead targeted fundraising efforts (e.g., institutional grants, with the Philanthropy and Senior Leadership Team)

• Develop our global partnership strategy: establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with external stakeholders and identify opportunities and strategies to improve engagement with political, environmental, corporate leaders, scientific bodies, donors and other charities.

• Support the global annual budgeting process for CIE, research and UN advocacy activity areas, and other departments where appropriate.

(2) Internal & external leadership (~30%)

• As a proactive member of the Senior Leadership Team, make a clear and distinct contribution to the strategic direction and operational aims of ProVeg International by identifying solutions and making recommendations. Support collective decisions made and act as a key advocate to implement and embed activities from an organisational development, continuous improvement and cultural change perspective.

• Understand and maintain awareness of the organisational strategy and operational plans and make recommendations as to how the International Departments will support delivery against these.

• Support communications with top-level narratives and strategies to appeal to key target audiences.

• Continually identify areas in which ProVeg International is seeking greatest action and develop strategies, policy briefings and reports which are aligned to external priorities, and influence and effect positive change. 

• Keep abreast of economic, scientific and political developments. Undertake relevant analysis on threats and opportunities and communicate any developments/insights to the relevant stakeholders, to help inform future strategy development.

• Work on reports and other formats to share insights into specific aspects of the organisation’s focus areas (policy, corporate, market developments, investment)  

• Support executives with creating overall narratives, pitch decks, speeches and other top-level communication channels to raise the profile and reputation of the organisation

• Take on certain representational responsibilities such as public speaking and represent the charity at internal and external events by acting as an advocate and ambassador for all its work and in leading initiatives and campaigns - including at international top-level events.

Required

• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in the corporate world, research, politics, NGO management

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in international NGO operations

• Demonstrable experience of developing global strategies, scenarios and outputs that effect change, as well as making recommendations and decisions based on comprehensive data analyses and benchmarking

• Experience of providing high-level strategic advice to senior executives and decision-makers on strategic and operational issues related to the organisation’s involvement with corporates, research, and politics

• Understanding of market, research and policy processes

• In-depth understanding of the relation between the corporate and the charity sector, specifically related to food system transformation and global food systems influencing

• Strong experience of interacting with government officials, policy-makers, researchers, and corporate representatives to further ProVeg International’s (PVI’s) goals

• In-depth understanding of and ability to develop and apply B2B strategies and balance them against essential B2C interventions and projects within PVI  

• Ability to identify strategic needs, lead all aspects of planning with sound recommendations, and generate alignment within departments relevant to B2B activities and with key external partners

• Intimate knowledge about the organisation’s overall strategy and its implementation 

• Excellent overview of projects within an organisation and their relevance for the overall strategy - including analytical abilities to identify synergies while avoiding major strategic risks

• Excellent project management and execution skills for special projects, and alignment with the organisation’s strategic goals.

• You will be responsible for recruiting processes from the initial job description drafting, communication with applicants to conducting selection interviews and supporting and preparing the onboarding process.
