Description

We are now seeking a Regulatory Policy Analyst Intern who will collaborate with the Project Director, SMEs, and other IntegrityM team members, as necessary, to define potential areas or topics for analysis.

Responsibilities

• Provide input in developing and evaluating program policies and procedures
• Evaluate and propose changes concerning the methods of operation
• Assists in research, qualitative and quantitative analysis, data collection and management, and strategic problem solving
• Performs legislative and regulatory analysis (i.e. regulatory summaries)
• Assist with policy writing (e.g., briefs and memos for various clients, including advocacy)
• Assist with business strategy development
• Be expected to contribute to the policy and strategic thinking within the organization

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or Graduate students in business, public policy, public health, health management, economics, or similar social sciences
• 1-3 years of experience in healthcare analysis
• Familiarity with healthcare law, health finance, or insurance processes
• Experience with policy analysis
• Experience with regulatory research and briefs
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

You Will:

• Formulate queries to extract, manipulate, format, and present data stored in relational databases.  Use SQL, R, Python, Excel or other software as appropriate to task. 
• Perform data analysis through such functions as: creating summaries and tables; running summary statistics, trend analyses and estimations; refining database queries to generate subsets of databases and tables.
• Effectively communicate with and between technical and non-technical end users, providing clear explanation of procedures used and results obtained from data analysis tasks. 
• Provide assistance to Managers in monitoring, updating, and maintaining tracking logs.
• Provide subject matter expertise and guidance. Peer reviews Statisticians and Data Analysts’ work and prepares reports on analysis.
• Participate in team projects and brainstorming sessions to assess various methodologies for study designs.
• Conduct, validate and peer review sampling and extrapolations. Review methodologies for increased efficiency and accuracy.
• Remain informed regarding industry changes, trends, best practices and applicable regulations and assesses impact of changes on the project.

You Are:

• In the master’s program for statistics, applied statistics, mathematics, or other related approved degree.
• Biostatisticians with public health backgrounds are desired.
• Comfortable with databases performing functions as data cleaning and maintenance; extracting data, importing/exporting data into various formats (Ex. .CSV, text, Excel, etc.)
• Proficient in both random and stratified sampling methods and variable and attribute analysis.
• Proficient in extrapolating sample review results to a universe.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Data analysis experience within the healthcare industry.

In this role, the Statistician with guidance from the Senior Data Analyst or Sr. Statistician and Mangers will provide analytical and statistical data support utilizing statistical software. Statistician possesses a statistical education background and general knowledge of health care systems, basic computer and software skills, and ability to accomplish all delegated tasks achieving Integrity Management Services business goals producing high quality deliverables to our clients. Statistician works independently as well as collaboratively with Data Analysis team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintains strict compliance, confidentiality and security of the personal health information contained in the data sources.
• Works with databases performing functions including data cleaning and maintenance; extracting data, importing/exporting data into various formats.
• Develops comprehensive reports and analyzes data in order to identify patterns and trends.
• Creates materials that aid in illustrating analytics/data findings.
• Compiles, verifies, and interprets data to guide departmental efforts.
•  Conduct quantitative and qualitative data mining and statistical analyses:

• Uses SAS, MS Access, and Excel.
• Performs data analysis to create summaries and result tables.
• Runs summary statistics.
• Conducts research relevant to the analysis being done.
• Refines database queries to generate subsets of databases and tables.
• Creates clear, concise, and complete materials including but not limited to reports, memos and/or data files for submission to the client.
• Create project presentations at the request of manager and other stakeholders.
• Adheres to IntegrityM Quality Management (QM) Program procedures including: following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Desk Level Procedures (DLPs) and Peer Review protocols and organization-wide policies and procedures in areas assigned, resolving problems that might affect or be encountered by others, identifying and sharing best practices that could be helpful to others and documenting all work by following established procedures. 
• Communicates with technical and non-technical end users, providing clear explanation of procedures used and results obtained from data analysis tasks.

• Exercises appropriate discretion and independent judgment relating to company policies and practices in an effective, consistent and professional manner.

Job Qualifications:

• Required education of a Bachelor’s degree in a job related field.
• Required work experience of two years’ SAS programming.
• Preferred education of at least a Bachelor's degree-statistics/biostatistics, mathematics, computer science, or other job related field.
• Preferred work experience of two years’ experience with statistical practices and two years relational database experience. (May be concurrent)
• Required skills and abilities:

1. Good organizational skills, customer service, analytical skills
2. Ability to use complex mathematical calculations
3. Demonstrated knowledge of mathematical or statistical concepts
4. Relevant computer programming skills

• Healthcare knowledge preferred.

In this role, the Senior Data Analyst possesses an in-depth knowledge of health care systems, intermediate computer and software skills, and the ability to accomplish all delegated tasks achieving Integrity Management Services business goals of producing high quality deliverables for our clients. The Senior Data Analyst works independently and collaboratively with Statistical and Data Analysts to provide analytical data support.

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintains strict confidentiality and security of all sensitive and/or business confidential information obtained or accessed during the course of business and/or contract operations.

• Adheres to all IntegrityM and/or client privacy and security protocols governing sensitive and/or business confidential information. Adheres to applicable policies and procedures ensuring commitment to quality, compliance and security to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data and information.

• Ensures compliance with all applicable privacy and security training requirements (both IntegrityM and external/client-based), whether on an annual or ad/hoc basis. Please note: certain position levels (leads, managers, directors or higher) may require additional “role-based” training to ensure compliance with applicable privacy and security requirements.

• Build models and conduct analytics that contribute to Medicare and Medicaid fraud, waste and abuse efforts. Applies knowledge of healthcare data and policy to known fraud schemes to hypothesize “footprints” the fraud schemes may leave in the data. Constructs and runs tests to validate these hypothesis. Uses this knowledge to construct fraud detection models.

• Identifies anomalies in health care data and follows up those anomalies to determine if they are indications of fraud. Identify outliers that exhibit patterns of fraud, waste, and abuse.

• Builds complex models for specific analysis using technology such as Python (Python, PySpark), R, SQL, SAS, Databricks.

• Manipulates and extracts Medicare, Medicaid, and other healthcare claims data stored in Cloud environment using appropriate software such as SAS, Snowflake, Python, R, SQL, and other software as appropriate for the task.

• Develop targeted analyses and related materials.

• Continuously learns Medicare and Medicaid policy and policy changes. Continuously evaluate impacts of policy and policy changes on fraud detection models.

• Support and participate in testing sprints and projects.

• Provides subject matter expertise and guidance to Statistical and Data Analysts in learning to complete their tasks and assuring the quality of project deliverables. Provides technical assistance. Peer reviews Statistical and Data Analysts’ work and prepares reports on analysis.

• May serve as a Team Lead by planning, coordinating, and documenting project related activities, managing the team, as well as communicating directly with a client.

• Effectively communicates with and between technical and non-technical end users, providing clear explanation of procedures used and results obtained from data analysis tasks. 

• Leads and/or participates in team projects and brainstorming sessions to assess various methodologies for study designs.

• Remains informed regarding industry changes, trends, best practices, and applicable regulations and assesses impact of changes on the project.

• Exercises appropriate discretion and independent judgment relating to company policies and practices in an effective, consistent, and professional manner.

Job Qualifications:

• Minimum 4-year degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science or related field or possesses a minimum of 6 years of data analysis experience within the healthcare industry.

• Has 6 years of professional experience working with large and complex data sets.
• Possesses a minimum of 3 years of data analysis experience within the healthcare industry. 
• Advanced knowledge of analytic, mathematical, and statistical methods.
• Experience or understanding of Medicare and Medicaid claims, ICD10 codes, HCPCS, Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG).
• Confidence in merging disparate datasets, INNER/LEFT/RIGHT joins, and functions such as COALESCE(), CAST(), SAS functions such as SUBSTR(), LAG(), PROC SQL.
• Relevant experience in a health-related, scientific, or public policy/business discipline with extensive quantitative methods/statistical knowledge.
• Proficient in project software such as SAS/SQL, Python/PySpark, Snowflake, R, Databricks CMS cloud environments.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Knowledge of analytic methodologies and principles.
• Responds to tasks or requests in a cooperative and timely manner.
