The International Crisis Group’s Future of Conflict Program is looking for a quantitative research voluntary intern to assist its analysts and fellows in their research activities. This is a desk-based position. The voluntary internship is an excellent opportunity for someone to learn about conflict analysis and advocacy work but also to gain valuable experience in a high-profile international NGO.

Responsibilities

• Prepares data for research (pre-analysis);

• Helps design, implement and evaluate research, and automates research insights (post-analysis), the latter would help build internal data capacities;

• The candidate would be able to write their own summaries of research, perform literature reviews, and retrieve information from the web;

• In terms of data construction, cleaning, and analysis, little supervision is expected;

• The candidate will work closely with FoC researchers, other teams within the organization (comms and research), and external partners;

• Previous experience working on climate security, infrastructure, or regional focus on the Mekong or Horn is a plus.

Crisis Group is offering an excellent learning opportunity for recent graduates of political science, conflict studies or international relations who are interested in Turkish foreign and domestic politics. In this role you will deepen your knowledge on the critical issues in Turkish politics and learn what goes into producing Crisis Group’s reports. You will be also observing, contributing to and providing feedback on our work as a member of the Türkiye Team.

The ideal candidate would be someone who has knowledge and interest in Turkish domestic and foreign policy issues and plans to pursue a career in conflict studies. Candidates would need excellent English and Turkish, and academic writing skills.

This is a volunteer position starting in December 2023 / January 2024.  The intern will work on a remote basis reporting to the Türkiye/Cyprus Director and Senior Analyst.

Responsibilities include:

• Research support particularly on Turkish foreign policy as well as internal security/conflict issues, regional/geostrategic developments, Cyprus and other areas as needed;
• Review of Turkish and international press;
• Provide assistance in reporting/drafting on conflicts/issues followed by the Istanbul field office;
• Assist in the preparation of advocacy materials, including conference presentations;
• Provide administrative support as required.

Crisis Group is offering a great learning opportunity to develop concise writing skills, and see first hand how a policy organisation develops its communications strategies with relation to social media. In this volunteer internship you will also be observing, contributing and providing feedback to our processes as a member of the communications team. This is a full time volunteer position for 6-months starting in January 2024.

The successful candidate will discover how an organization approaches and cultivates relationships with institutional donors, including governments and multilateral organizations. They will learn how to identify and link governmental foreign policy or institutional thematic priorities with Crisis Group activities.

This is a volunteer position of6 months starting in mid- Novemberwith the Government and Multilateral Relations team in Crisis Group’s Brussels HQ.

• Assisting the Government & Multilateral Relations Team in the preparation of briefing notes, grant proposals and grant reports, and day-to-day grant and donor management.

• Supporting the development of communication and grant monitoring tools and materials for internal and external purposes, including note taking during meetings.

This is a desk-based position that requires a natural flair for political conflict analysis, flexibility, intelligence and hard work, and offers an excellent opportunity for someone to learn about conflict analysis and advocacy work and gain valuable experience in a high-profile international NGO. The voluntary internship would suit a bilingual French/English candidate with a recent undergraduate or graduate degree in international relations, political science or related fields, seeking to gain experience in a fast-paced, international NGO working to prevent war and shape peace worldwide. We are looking for someone to start inNovember 2023for six months.

The voluntary internship would suit candidates with a recent undergraduate or graduate degree in international relations, political science or related fields, seeking to gain experience in a fast-paced, international NGO working to prevent war and shape peace worldwide. The voluntary intern will focus mainly on Somalia.

Crisis Group is offering a great learning opportunity to develop concise writing skills, and seeing first hand how a policy organisation develops and maintains its media relations and promotes its work through its podcasts Hold Your Fire!, War & Peace and The Horn.  In this volunteer internship you will also be observing, contributing and providing feedback to our processes as a member of the communications team.  This is a full time volunteer position for 3-6 months starting as soon as possible.

• Suggesting, reaching out to and preparing candidate podcast guests, supporting podcast hosts with the recording process;

• Preparing background research and runs-of-show for hosts of upcoming podcast episodes;
