Volunteer Intern, Climate, Environment and Conflict, Africa
The International Crisis Group is looking for a voluntary intern to assist its analysts in their research activities in Africa. This is a desk-based position. The voluntary internship is an excellent opportunity for someone to learn about climate, environment and conflict analysis, but also to gain valuable experience in a high-profile international NGO.
Responsibilities:
● Researching and drafting climate security risk assessments, literature reviews, and country backgrounders on relevant climate and conflict risks for the Climate, Environment and Conflict Senior Analyst;
● Monitoring relevant global and regional developments, such as extreme weather events, via online sources;
● Coding and classifying news articles, social media posts, and other material for content and sentiment, in preparation for writing situation reports and providing quantitative analysis;
● Supporting the production of data visualizations and statistical analyses;
● Assisting in editing reports and briefings on climate and conflict issues;
● Preparing advocacy and research materials such as talking points for senior analysts and providing note-taking for relevant events and meetings.
