Position: Senior Director, Product Engineer - Cybersecurity, AWS, EUDS 
Reports to:Vice President, Quality and Product Engineering 
Location: National 

SUMMARY 

The Senior Director, Product Engineer - Cyber Security, AWS, EUDS is a new position at Per Scholas focused on the ongoing innovation, design, and creation of our Cyber, IT Support, and EUDS curriculum to ensure a learner-centric experience to teach the most in-demand skills in entry and mid-level roles. This role is uniquely responsible for the ongoing effectiveness, quality, and innovation of our Cyber, IT Support, and EUDS Curriculum based on the needs of employers, market trends, and partner feedback across all the modalities that we deliver these subjects including in-person and remote training. 

The Senior Director, Product Engineering will work collaboratively with our curriculum design and development teams, our learning management systems implementers, and our adult learning subject matter experts. Additionally, this role will regularly support, train, and provide professional development for both our Cyber, AWS, and EUDS instructors as well as other instructors who wish to upskill. 

The Senior Director, Product Engineer will report to the Vice-President, Quality and Product Engineering. KEY

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Cyber, IT Support, and EUDS Product Design and Innovation 

  • Develop ideas for enhancing our current Cyber, AWS, and EUDS curriculum based on Learner Experience Design principles based on both employer demand and the needs of our learners 
  • Identify changing employer needs in entry to mid-level Cyber, AWS, and EUDS roles and develop a 1-2 year roadmap for our curriculum 
  • Develop a deep understanding of the needs of our Cyber, AWS, and EUDS learners and the instructors and use this to inform the ongoing development of the Curriculum
  • Perform constant market analysis of competing products, changing hiring trends, and employer needs to identify gaps and propose solutions in our existing Cyber, AWS, and EUDS curriculum
  • Develop prototypes for Cyber, AWS, and EUDS curriculum to test before implementing at large 
    scale across the organization, incorporating best practices from adult learning pedagogy from our internal subject matter experts
  • Creating prototypes across all modalities that Cyber, AWS, and EUDS is provided in, including in-person and remote leveraging our remote learning subject matter experts
  • Analyze feasibility, cost, and effectiveness of prototypes
  • Coordinate with Curriculum Design and Development team to enhance the Cyber, AWS, and EUDS curriculum with successful prototypes
  • Document changes made to the Cyber, AWS, and EUDS curriculum 
  • Assists in designing a complete project, system, component, or process.                                          

Instructor Development

  • Creates learning paths and upskilling opportunities for instructors and instructional staff both currently teaching Cyber, AWS, and EUDS courses or others that would like to upskill in an area.
  • Ensures curriculum is “instructor-ready” and works with the curriculum design/development team to create the necessary resources. 
  • Responsible for onboarding new instructors ensuring a level of knowledge, understanding, and consistency in the delivery of the Cyber, AWS, and EUDS curriculum. 
  • Conducts periodic classroom observations to ensure quality and consistency, providing feedback and connecting instructors to upskilling. 
  • Participates in the hiring process to ensure instructional staff can maintain quality instruction for their center of excellence. 
  • Employer/Funder-facing for their areas of expertise. 

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years working in Cyber, AWS, IT SUPPORT, or EUDS roles 
  • 5+ years working in Product Management, Curriculum Design, and Development, or Product Design roles 
  • Experience in Project Management is highly preferred 
  • Knowledge of instructional design and adult learning pedagogy a plus 
  • Demonstrable experience working in inclusive, collaborative ways to develop solutions                   
  • Data-driven approach to making decisions and evaluating performance 
  • Knowledge and experience with Canvas and Salesforce a plus

For this role specifically,we are targeting a salary of $90,000/year, with a range between $85,00,000/year and $94,500/year, where the difference in salary is typically determined by several factors, including geography in which the selected candidate resides, and alignment with qualifications and experience.

Essential Functions

It consumes XML files that describe the various software components in an electronic control unit (ECU) and produces Embedded C code that implements the Run-Time Environment (RTE) for the described ECU.

    This role involves:

    • investigating the current behaviour of the product and cooperating with the product owner and technical analyst so that the correct changes can be requested from the development team.
    • investigation of requested changes to ensure that the end result fulfils the needs of the customers.
    • assisting the development team by providing appropriate tests to ensure adherence to specified behaviour.

    Job Description

    We are currently seeking a seasoned Consulting Engineer (CE) to join our America’s team to help drive the adoption and integration of our portfolio of security services within our customers’ networks. In this position, you will play a key role in evangelizing, architecting, and simplifying the effort to deploy these solutions to help customers become more secure.
     
    The Consulting Engineer will work with our customer-facing sales teams (Systems Engineers and Account Executives), internal stakeholders (Product Management, Support, Marketing & others). The goal is to ensure that the solution work aligns with our market goals, product capabilities, and roadmaps.  The CE will also produce material and tools to educate the Systems Engineering community and resolve any customer issues. 
     

    Qualifications

    Required Technical Skills:

     

    • 5+ year of developing and successfully delivering network security projects for customers
    • 5+ years working with Security Operations groups 
    • Strong experience in all aspects of network-based security, including threat hunting, malware, spyware, and other intrusion prevention techniques
    • Strong experience with industry standards of compliance such as PCI, NIST, HIPAA, and others
    • Full and in-depth understanding of the attack lifecycle and experience in thwarting the attacks at various stages
    • In-depth knowledge of the Zero Trust model for security
    • BS technical degree or equivalent
    • Specific Subject Matter Expertise Desired (one or more)
    • Automation tools and techniques - Ansible, Terraform, Cloud automation

    Job Description

    Work closely with the functional team to define testing scope, automate tests, organize and review the automation effort of other feature team members:

    • Work closely with the Developers to understand the features technically
    • Create test design and test cases for developed User Stories and bugfixes

    Role is 70-80% Automation with 20-30% manual effort (the more components are automated the less manual footprint will become)

    Perfect candidate: We're looking for a person that already has some automation experience, but also is a strong team player. The person would become an owner of automation inside of the team, meaning he/she would be able to organize oneself as well as Developers in a way that encourages quality mindset across the entire team - to allow Developers to contribute into the Automated script suites. Within a regular sprint this person should:

    • Participate in creating the test strategy as well as coverage strategy with unit/integration/e2e
    • Write a test plan that would need to be automated and agree with Developers who should automate what
    • Review Developer contributions
    • Maintain existing testbase and scriptbase (the latter by oneself or with developer help)
    • If needed - check the small increments manually within the sprint
    • If needed - check the bugfixes and close the resolved issues
    • At code-freeze - check the overall integration of the User Stories and prepare the content to be deployed to Production by performing manual or automated tests
    • Perform exploratory testing if needed to identify extra issues that may arise
