About the Job

We are seeking a Technical Lead with experience in Extreme Programming (XP) practices—such as test-driven development, continuous deployment, and evolutionary design—who will improve skills and create a bridge between engineers in a global set of teams. The ideal candidate will work with people in India, Latin America, the UK, and the US, who lead by example to teach and mentor the engineers they work with. They will come up to speed quickly in Node/React and PHP codebases, identify challenges, and coach teams in addressing them.

Compensation: The pay range for this position is generally between $165,000-$185,000 per year and depends on experience. The Basics:

At Tanium, Software Engineering Interns have the opportunity to gain valuable, real-world experience in building B2B security focused applications. Assigned a senior engineer mentor and a peer intern buddy, you’ll work with our team directly on new features for the next release of Tanium’s platform. The Basics (Hybrid Role - Part-time IN office)

As a Full-Stack Senior Software Engineer at Tanium, you will be working on a project that will make IT and security teams more effective at scale by automating complex tasks in real time using cutting edge technologies. Tanium focuses on a customer engagement model and feedback process to ensure our products are designed the right way from the beginning. When new products ideas are identified, our software engineers design, develop, test, and deploy the products from the ground up, while iterating with product management and customers for feedback and input. • Experience building high-impact, high-performance, secure, scalable, observable, supportable, and maintainable backend services and APIs
• Significant knowledge of at least one of the following: Golang or JavaScript/TypeScript (preferred), Node.js, Java, or Rust
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms
• Experience with modern software engineering development and automation tools like git and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with containers and microservices is a plus
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi) a plus
• Experience with container orchestration solutions (Kubernetes, Nomad, Mesos) a plus
• Demonstrates sound judgment for balancing between rapid development, long-term code maintainability and supportability
• Believes in the power of and the need for writing automated tests as part of development
• Comfortable debugging yours and others’ code in production environments
• Has knowledge of a variety of modern backend software frameworks and the versatility to learn new tools and languages

What you’ll get

The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $95,000 to $190,000. This range is an estimate for what Tanium will pay a new hire. The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, training and experience.
