Job Description

The Data Intelligence Tribe is responsible for leveraging Shippeo’s data from our large shipper and carrier base, to build data products that help our users (shippers and carriers alike) and ML models to provide predictive insights. This tribe’s typical responsibilities are to:

• get accurately alerted in advance of any potential delays on their multimodal flows or anomalies so that they can proactively anticipate any resulting disruptions

• extract the data they need, get direct access to it or analyze it directly on the platform to gain actionable insights that can help them increase their operational performance and the quality and compliance of their tracking

• provide best-in-class data quality by implementing advanced cleansing & enhancement rules

As a Data Engineer at Shippeo, your objective is to ensure that data is available and exploitable by our Data Scientists and Analysts on our different data platforms. You will contribute to the construction and maintenance of Shippeo’s modern data stack that’s composed of different technology blocks:

• Data Acquisition (Kafka, KafkaConnect, RabbitMQ),

• Batch data transformation (Airflow, DBT),

• Cloud Data Warehousing (Snowflake, BigQuery),

• Stream/event data processing (Python, docker, Kubernetes) and all the underlying infrastructure that support these use cases.

Qualifications

Required:

• You have a degree (MSc or equivalent) in Computer Science.

• 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.

• Experience building, maintaining, testing and optimizing data pipelines and architectures

• Programming skills in Python 

• Advanced working knowledge of SQL, experience working with relational databases and familiarity with a variety of databases.

• Working knowledge of message queuing and stream processing.

• Advanced knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.

• Advanced knowledge of a cloud platform (preferably GCP).

• Advanced knowledge of a cloud based data warehouse solution (preferably Snowflake).

• Experience with Infrastructure as code (Terraform/Terragrunt)

• Experience building and evolving CI/CD pipelines (Github Actions).

Desired: 

• Experience with Kafka and KafkaConnect (Debezium).

• Monitoring and alerting on Grafana / Prometheus.

• Experience working on Apache Nifi.

• Experience working with workflow management systems such as Airflow.

Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, your work will focus on improving our technical architecture and developing new functionalities. You will be responsible for all aspects: technical design, development, testing, documentation, deployment, and maintainability.

What you will do

• Provides and supports a strategic vision that integrates a broad range of ideas for applications and software developments.

• Mentor other peer engineers with workflow and complex software solution buildings with your skills and experience.

• Assess the hiring process of the team selection to ensure the balance between selecting skilled and experienced as required by the project.

• Work closely with the product manager/owner, staff engineer, and engineering manager to develop the technical design and solutions.

• Design and maintain server-side application logic using PHP Symfony in an event-driven environment

• Write qualitative, readable, and tested code

• Collaborate with front-end developers on designing the most performant and scalable APIs

• Design and optimize applications for high performance, high availability, and high scalability

• Ensuring optimal performance of the requests to the databases

• Document your processes, your APIs using OpenAPI and the database schemas

• Explore new architectural patterns within our stack: DDD, CQRS, event sourcing, micro-services

• Be an integral part of the lifecycle of software

Generally composed of 4 backend developers, 2 frontend developers, 1 product manager, 1 product designer, and 1 QA Analyst, each feature team has full ownership of selecting and delivering the features that will have the greatest impact on our users. Qualifications

We are looking for a developer with a good knowledge of the technologies we use, but what matters most is that:

• You are passionate, experienced and enjoy working in a team in an agile context

• You are not afraid to confront new problems and overcome them

• You deliver qualitative, powerful and tested code 

Your Profile :

• Experience of minimum 5 years in Software Engineering in a highly paced environment

• Must have experience in developing server-side application logic using PHP Symfony

• Must have experience with at least one relational database and a noSQL database

• Must have experience with a message-broker system

• Must have experience with a CI implementation

• Familiarity with RabbitMQ, Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana, ElasticSearch

• You develop pragmatic solutions without overengineering and choose simple, straightforward solutions over more complex ones

• You align your work with the company's business objectives and seek to deliver business value

• You have a strong emphasis on developing solutions that are production-ready with a mindset oriented towards you build it, you run it

• Proficiency in both French & English

As a QA Tester at Inelo, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and testing systems for transportation telematics. Your work will consist of manually testing applications and writing automated test cases for Web Applications and backend services.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• practical ability to write test cases for manual and automated testing and experience with test management tools (e.g. Xray)
• experience in testing API communication including REST protocol
• practical knowledge of Java and OOP best practices
• practical knowledge of Selenium WebDriver, RestAssured, TestNg, and Allure Report
• practical knowledge of CI/CD tools ( e.g. GitLab, Jenkins)
• ability to write queries for relational and non-relational databases (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB)
• ability to work with queuing systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka)
• familiarity with bug reporting tools like Jira
• familiarity with version control systems like GIT
• ability to work in containerized environments with the use of Docker and Kubernetes
• Polish at a native level
