We are looking for an engineer with a passion for excellence. The Technical Support Engineer will be responsible for managing and resolving challenging issues for ServiceNow partners and customers. This includes developing subject matter expertise within the customer support department and collaborating with other team members in the various technologies.   • Bachelors or higher in Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Strong experience working with dynamic HTML components: AJAX, JavaScript, CSS, XML, HTML, XHTML
  • Strong experience with JavaScript, AngularJS and Jelly.
  • Strong experience working in Java or similar backend programming language
  • Experience and understanding of Object Oriented Design     
  • Experience with relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle
  • Working knowledge of the components in a web applications stack
  • Familiarity with Linux, UNIX or other OS
  • 5+ years providing customer facing technical support (Web based products or e-commerce preferred)
  • Must have Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent degree and experience)
  • Candidates will lesser experience will be considered for appropriate roles.

Extra Skills

  • Previous experience working with the ServiceNow platform (Client Scripts, UI Policies/Actions/Pages/Scripts/Macros)
  • Experience providing SaaS support is desirable.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead project management and delivery of network, voice and data services platforms working independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ensure timely delivery of services to Care Centers and the Privia Health enterprise on projects, change requests and incidents

  • Management of on-premises communication closets, cabling and data center environments

  • Management of third-party vendors during project work or service outages, including root cause analysis when necessary

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our solutions, infrastructure/network topology, and overall company mission and objectives

  • Maintain a high level of productivity, efficiently producing high-quality work & deliverables staying abreast of newly emerging technologies

  • Concurrently balance and advance multiple projects and other deliverables

We are a “virtual” team, distributed globally, telecommuting via the internet. We make heavy use of email, Slack, the web, SSH, and similar “remote” technologies. Prior experience in this form of working environment is ideal.

Because we must provide coverage to our customers 24x7x365, this position does occasionally involve work on nights, weekends and holidays, however, we leverage our global team to minimize the impact as much as possible with a focus on work/life balance. Work location is very flexible. MariaDB does not sponsor relocation or work visas.

Responsibilities

  • Help customers:
    • Architect SkySQL and Xpand deployments
    • Proactively plan for growth in data and transaction volumes
    • Migrate effectively from legacy (commercial) database systems to SkySQL or Xpand
  • Enable SkySQL customers for self-service
  • Participate in presales activities such as:
    • Joining sales calls and on-site visits (post COVID-19) with prospects to make technical presentations
    • Leading highly technical PoCs for Xpand/SkySQL, working closely with the Account Sales Engineer
  • Work closely with SRE and Product Management teams to help steer the products based on customer and prospect needs
  • Train/enable SkyDBAs on SOPs
  • Key member in SkySQL and Xpand escalation calls
  • Help provide oversight and onboarding pf lighthouse SkySQL/Xpand accounts
  • Perform DBA activities remotely with SkySQL customers around the world
  • Automate various SkySQL tasks
  • Perform periodic health checks and reports on SkySQL services
  • Participate in the community by blogging and other social media activities
  • Help the MariaDB team build tools and enhancements around SkySQL, especially those that may take time to implement via engineering
  • Ability to be on call as needed to guarantee customer SLAs
  • Manage SkySQL customers across cloud environments
  • Ability to travel internationally (post COVID-19) for company-related meetings
  • Act as a customer advocate
  • Investigate incidents and prepare RCAs
  • Help improve practices and common methodologies for all SkySQL- related teams

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with MySQL, MariaDB, Clustrix or Xpand
  • Passion for serving customers and solving technical problems
  • Proficient with virtualization and containerization software (Docker, Kubernetes, Xen, VirtualBox, VMware, etc.)
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following database technologies:
    • SQL – Oracle, Exadata, Sybase, DB2, SQL Server
    • NoSQL – MongoDB, Redis, Apache Cassandra
  • Sysadmin experience (Linux, Windows, etc.)
  • Very strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of SQL query writing and optimization
  • AWS, GCP, Azure or other cloud knowledge
  • In-depth knowledge of various high availability environments and technologies
  • Proficient in one or more scripting languages (Bash, Python, Go, etc.)
  • Comfortable working remotely (equipment provided)
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills

Bonus Experience and Skills

  • Expert knowledge of MariaDB and MySQL, certifications recommended; some working experience with an enterprise relational and/or analytical database is required

Job Description

  • Identify and remove test environment issues (both cloud and local) 
  • Execute and report test results 
  • Participate in DEV testing and QA meetings 
  • Maintain created bugs in JIRA 
  • Write FE and BE automated tests using available framework and page object patterns 
  • Review automated tests written by QA’s 
  • Share best QA practices across company 
  • Help to build QA processes and procedures.  
  • Provide support for process change  
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of QA team members, including scheduling and managing ongoing tasks.  
  • Conduct employee training and evaluation  
  • Provide support during the hiring and onboarding process.  
  • Assess current testing needs and schedules and determine staffing needs to effectively conduct the testing  
  • Oversee team members  work to ensure that they aligned 
  • Accept requests: hardware order, holidays, access 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years working in software | hardware testing field and  ISTQB certification completed 
  • Knowledge on SDLC 
  • Hands on experience with JIRA;  Confluence; Swagger, Zeplin, Postman, VB (Rider), Postgres, Kibana, Jenkins 
  • MS Office, Edge, Chrome, Mobile platforms deep knowledge 
  • Windows or Linux advanced user 
  • Understanding of Cloud services 
  • Understanding of network and internet connectivity

The Striker team is one of two teams dedicated to providing innovative tools to remove, mitigate, verify, investigate threats and measure impact to ensure that threats found, online, have an appropriate method for dealing with them and brands can evolve their strategy. You’ll contribute to and be a key person in making the internet a better and safer place for everyone.

 

What will you do?

As a technical lead you will:

  • Lead the development Striker team with technical direction.
  • Be a line manager for other software engineers.
  • Support individual growth, of team members, to achieve individual as well as team objectives
  • Coach colleagues in developing target skills and capabilities in line with team and personal goals.
  • Set workgroup objectives aligned to organisational drivers.
  • Cross functionally align the Striker goals and be a representative for the team with the rest of the organization.
  • Be a part of forming effective teams and work streams.
  • Be a part of defining ways of working for the team.
  • Facilitates effective working relationships between team members.
  • Provide operational and technical direction, support and guidance to assigned colleagues.

As a developer you will:

  • Develop software components to deliver value to stakeholders, namely code-based scrapers and modifications to scraping systems
  • Work with team to deliver outcomes through software development
  • Identify, create and apply software development and security standards and processes
  • Estimate time and effort required for software development
  • Construct, amending and verifying software components
  • Apply test-driven development and ensuring appropriate test coverage
  • Use peer review techniques — such as pair programming
  • Document software components
  • Understand and obtain agreement to the value of the software components to be developed

  • Apply recovery techniques to ensure the software being developed is not lost

Requirements

What do we ask of you?

  • Bachelor of Computer Science (BSc), Engineering, or equivalent qualification
  • Very good knowledge of modern web application development including RESTful web services, web applications, databases, and operating systems;
  • In depth experience of the software development lifecycle and code repositories such as git, including branching and merging flows and CI/CD pipelines;
  • Python, Django, AWS, Kafka, Cassandra, BigQuery, MySQL, Postgres
  • Linux toolchain
  • Knowledge of agile methods (SCRUM)
  • JIRA & Confluence experience
  • Previous experience in managing teams is an advantage, but not a necessity.
