Role Overview: As a Service Designer at Amber Labs, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the service offerings provided to our clients. You will be responsible for translating client requirements into actionable designs, ensuring seamless access, fulfillment, and support for end users. Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements and translate them into comprehensive service designs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in [relevant field] or equivalent practical experience.
  • Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in a Service Designer role, with exposure to various projects in both private and public sectors.
  • Proficiency in both agile and waterfall project delivery methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL 3/4 beyond foundational level.
  • Familiarity with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards for service design and delivery.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) and IT Operations Management (ITOM) operating models and tooling capabilities, with expertise in ServiceNow.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our growing team who brings together the power of information architecture and the expressiveness of content design. You will help define the future of learning capabilities on the O'Reilly platform of today and tomorrow. In this Senior Product Designer role, you'll work across multiple levels of information architecture and content design—from systems and structures to visual concepts and words—creating product experiences that meet the needs of our technical end-users, content creators, and the companies they sustain. What You'll Do

As a Senior Product Designer working the O’Reilly platform and products, you will:

  • Raise the bar on the product experiences delivered by O’Reilly Product Design team 
  • Collaborate and negotiate across functional groups (product managers, content curators and editors, front- and back-end engineers, product marketers, researchers, and data scientists) to understand why and how our customers want to engage with our core learning experiences so together you can shape solutions that succeed
  • Envision and guide information architecture 
  • Design and lead creation of visual and written content 
  • Create and communicate effective user-centered design solutions—at all fidelities—with teammates and stakeholders, using flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes

What You'll Have

Required:

  • 9 years of commercial software experience design practice including demonstrable, effective information architecture and content design, including tangible contributions to product and company success, working within multidisciplinary teams under dynamic conditions
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may be considered      
  • Evidence and artifacts of your impactful design work showing effective processes and methods, mature information architecture and content design, modern aesthetics, and meaningful outcomes
  • Experience designing technology-focused tool or learning environments, such as editors, configurators, and terminals
  • Experience designing and prototyping in software industry standard tools such as Figma, Adobe and Whimsical
  • A passion for designing learning experiences for specialized audiences
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills  
  • Consistent skill growth via continuous hands-on and structured learning

The Sr. Graphic Designer role will initially be dedicated to one large integrated architecture, engineering, interiors, and consulting project for the next several months. Responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of client-facing presentations, document deliverables, concept diagrams, org charts, schedules, digital media, and other graphic materials as needed across the lifespan of the project. The role would work closely with key design leadership and project management daily and interface regularly with the larger graphic design marketing team. 
 
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Execute.  Take a project from strategy to storyboard to final design with knock-it-out-of-the-park confidence 
  • Collaborate.  Work with firm or project leadership, and teams to contribute to the content and design of strategic communication materials  
  • Think.  Use empathy and intuition to clarify complex ideas, visions, and strategies 
  • Design.  Develop creative solutions for leave-behinds, presentations, brochures, event collateral, portfolios, project templates, and digital media that express a unique vision 
  • Explore.  Continually research compelling ways to spread our message and integrate best practices to the team and the firm 
  • Lead. Independently coordinate multiple project efforts against rapid and frequent deadlines, all with positivity and decisiveness 
  • Connect.  Coordinate with studios and other firm teams to gather and share best practices 
  • Teach. Instruct non-design professionals about fundamental design skills stakeholders and help grow design team members  
 
ABOUT YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years professional experience in a graphic design position. Experience in the Architecture/Engineering field is a plus 
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field 
  • Stunning graphic design portfolio showing a balance of elevated brand collateral and high-concept materials, emphasizing print documents. Submitted copy of your portfolio is required
  • Compelling storytelling style, in both written and visual applications 
  • Strategic, creative thinking with the ability to brainstorm, collaborate, and build consensus among multiple stakeholders 
  • Well-developed communication and analytical skills 
  • Understanding of and experience in corporate branding, layout, color theory, and typography in both digital and print media 
  • Willing to travel in support of remote projects and teams 
  • Expert user of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator and the Microsoft Office 360 Suite 
  • Familiarity with After Effects, Cinema 4D, and Premiere is advantageous but not required
  • Professional business attire required when attending client meetings. Examples of professional business attire include suits, ties, collared dress shirts, dresses and skirts 
The salary range for this position is $69,200 to $86,500 annually. This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses. We offer a full benefit package including medical, dental and vision coverage and flexible spending account options and voluntary insurances.
