Job Description

We are looking for a flexible, personable, and communicative self-starter to help lead some of the nation's most exciting enterprise, open-source projects.

This is considered a full-time remote position, with an occasional (1-2 times per month) in-office attendance expected as public health guidance permits. This is primarily to support occasional team-building, collaboration sessions, pitches, or client kickoff meetings.   • Effectively manage multiple opportunities, requirements, estimates, and proposal support simultaneously

    • Assist with proposal creation, especially executive summaries and describing approaches that address specific project requirements

  • Assist & support strategic partnerships
  • Support hand-off to production (DM) upon conversion to client
  • Support the Marketing Team on content creation activities and deliverables when there is clear synergy or overlap with content required for the Sales team, including:
    • Writing support for client case studies including website case studies, marketing promotion materials, and proposal case studies tailored to align with specific opportunity requirements
    • Provide thought-leadership by collaborating with our digital marketing team to create blog post content around strategically determined topics that also support general proposal needs

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or communications is preferred but not required
  • Experience leading and architecting the development of solutions for proposals is strongly preferred
  • 3-5 years working for a digital agency or experience articulating technical solutions at a marketing or public relations firm
  • 2 years in a customer-service oriented or client-facing role

Qualifications (Required)

  • Facilitation of meetings, client calls and proposal and pitch preparations with internal staff

Job Description

The Web Services Team is part of the SFPD Technology Division, Applications Group, under the general direction of the Director of IT Applications. The new 1063 Senior IS Programmer Analyst: Web Developer and Designer will help develop and support the SFPD websites, update and support the intranet site, assist in developing media campaigns with the Media Relations Unit, develop the SFPD brand and design for digital and print.

We are growing our Web Services Team! We have developed a new Drupal 8 website with stakeholders and contractors http://sanfranciscopolice.org. As an important member of the SFPD Technology Applications Group Web Services Team, you will be a key contributor in building and maintaining modern websites with the SFPD brand and exemplary user experience design to better serve our community.

We are seeking an outstanding, experienced web developer and designer to help develop and iteratively improve the San Francisco Police Department sanfranciscopolice.org website, the Police Academy website and the San Francisco Police Commission website. Candidates must have strong skills in frontend and backend web development and be ready to collaborate with the website contractors, internal stakeholders and the community. The team member will also assist the SFPD Media Relations Unit to develop the SFPD brand through social media and other creative services. Experience in data visualizations, illustration, photography and print design desirable but not required.

Work Location: SFPD Headquarters, 1245 3rd Street, San Francisco, CA 94158
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm, Telecommuting work schedule available, 3 days telecommute and 2 days on site.
Compensation:$100,776 - $126,854 yearly.

The essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the design, development, enhancement, testing, implementation and support of the new SFPD Drupal 8 website with Department personnel and website contractors focusing on community content, design and user experience.
  • Skilled in front and backend web development, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript with knowledge of one or more programming languages (i.e. PHP, Ruby, Python, Scala, Java, C++, C# or .Net)
  • Write, edit and deliver code that is thoroughly tested for performance, able to handle specified load, and can be maintained over the long-term.
  • Understanding of designing for mobile browsers and responsive development (popular frameworks like Foundation, Twitter Bootstrap, etc.).

Qualifications

1.    Education: An associate degree in computer science or closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely-related field]. AND,

2.    Experience: Three (3) years of experience in application or software development or programming.

Substitution: Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units / forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in computer science or a closely related field.

Desirable Qualifications/Skills:

  • Expert and professional experience in Drupal open source content management platform (Drupal 8 preferred).
  • Background in working with stakeholders, management and contractors to understand, develop and implement creative business solutions and applications.
  • Experience in planning, executing and supporting web design, content management and user experience projects.
  • Background in User Experience, User Interface and User Centered Design with a focus on both user and stakeholder needs.
  • Knowledge of web standards, design fundamentals, security standards, browser compatibility, and known issues for all major browsers and operating systems.
  • Experience working in Agile development methodology and iterative development cycles.
