Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience working in design within a team environment
  • BA/BS in UX/UI design, information design, visual communications, or a related field, a certificate from a visual design/arts program, or equivalent experience
  • Online portfolio showcasing strong visual design sensibilities

Preferred but not required:

  • Experience with educational products or websites
  • Experience with children’s properties

Requirements & Preferences

As a Senior UX Product Designer you will:

  • Strong expertise and mix of UX and visual design chops
  • Functional experience using and contributing to design systems, information architecture, prototyping, UX best practices based on UCD (user-centered design), delivering in layers of fidelity, and conducting and interpreting qualitative and quantitative user research to inform design decisions.
  • Collaborate with partners across research, product, engineering, and customer support to understand our user’s needs, and design solutions to address them.
  • Create product flows and user journeys to understand a user’s path and experience while using our products.
  • Sketch, wireframe, and prototype quickly to vet ideas and obtain feedback.
  • Design modern, highly intuitive experiences for a wide array of devices and viewports.
  • Deliver continuously, in layers of fidelity (sketches, wireframes, wireflows, functionality, prototypes, and high-fidelity design).
  • Partner with research to test design work at critical junctures and use these findings to validate design decisions and adjust accordingly.
  • Present UX and design work often and openly, seeking feedback from stakeholders and keeping wider audiences informed.
  • Contribute to, and align design work with, our internal design system.
  • Provide constructive and thoughtful feedback that creates a safe space to freely ideate, collaborate and mentor more junior designers.
  • Be curious, open, positive, collaborative, and empathetic.
  • Think like an owner – scrappy, proactive, organized, and detailed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in visual and UX design, research methodologies, and product design.
  • Experience designing for touch screens.
  • Strong visual eye and portfolio demonstrating modern and clean design (typography, color, grid, layout).
  • Experience creating, using, and contributing to design systems.
  • Ability and desire to communicate design vision clearly and fearlessly across all teams, early and often.
  • Ability to receive and give constructive feedback in a positive manner.
  • Expertise with design programs such as Figma, Adobe CC, etc

Huge Plus

  • Accessibility expertise and/or experience designing for those with disabilities (temporary or permanent)
  • Experience designing for software purchasing and management processes.
  • Experience creating motion design (micro-interaction and other) – tools, techniques and understanding of how motion enhances the UI, focuses attention, creates hierarchy, and provides important user feedback.
  • Hardware design experience.
  • Experience with new technologies and how they integrate into products: VR/AR/XR, etc.

  • Deliver work that translates complex ideas into simple and useful designs.
  • Collaborate with UX researchers, interaction designers, software developers and QA to deliver high quality visual designs that effectively communicate interactivity.
  • Help drive development of a visual design system that will empower the UX team and development to move more quickly, with consistency.
  • Participate in every stage of the user-centered design process – visualize possibilities early in the design process to facilitate communication, create graphics to support user-testable prototypes, and deliver pixel-perfect visual designs that are implementation-ready.
  • Clearly articulate how and why your design directions address the challenge at hand and be ready to consider tradeoffs and alternatives to meet new requirements as they arise.
  • Leverage, extend and maintain the integrity of the Cricut brand in collaboration with our Creative Team (who are responsible for packaging, marketing, etc.)
  • Balance work on several design projects simultaneously, bringing system’s thinking and a clear understanding of relationships between different aspects of the software to ensure visual coherence.
  • Execute to the quality of top consumer brands such as Apple and Google Nest, stay abreast of product design trends, and communicate them to the entire UX team to ensure our work and process are state-of-the-art.

Qualifications

  • Strong conceptual thinker who has a passion for design problem solving.
  • Keen attention to detail and a passion for simplifying complicated systems.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication; ability to clearly defend design choices with clear rationale.
  • Egoless, with a clear focus on collaboration over individual accolades.

  • 4+ years of experience as a UI / Product designer working on consumer-facing software applications on more than one platform (e.g., Mac, Windows, iOS, Android).
  • Proven ability to partner with UX designers, UX researchers, software developers and QA to ensure user needs are met and designs are implemented correctly.
  • Exceptional portfolio, demonstrating software application visual design executed to a high level of impact and refinement.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Proficiency with user interface design patterns and standard User Centered Design methods. Mastery of standard design tools such as Figma, Sketch or Adobe Creative Suite and a willingness to learn new tools. 
  • Excellent visual design skills, including a strong understanding of typography, color theory, composition, and branded experiences.
  • A willingness to jump into design work at multiple stages of development, with a keen eye towards weaving it all together coherently.
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, information design, fine art, or relevant field. Graduate degree is a plus.
