    Looma Background

Looma exists to bring transparency, humanity, and responsibility to advertising and commerce. We do so by connecting shoppers to the people and stories behind their favorite brands, and informing their purchasing decisions.

Our first product, Loop™, is a network of in-store screens that play short videos focused on storytelling and education. The content for this network is powered by our second product — a marketplace of independent filmmakers who specialize in authentic, human-centric point-of-decision video.

    Position Summary

The Looma Product Manager is the perfect role for candidates early in their career looking to work throughout the product development lifecycle at a young and quickly growing startup. In practice, this role will support functions ranging from ideation and design to development and delivery, making it well-suited for those energized by taking ideas from initial ideation to production. As Looma’s 2nd product management hire, this role will report directly to Looma’s VP of Product and will require a high level of self-initiative, curiosity, and ownership over work.

    • Mockup lightweight UI/UX materials to guide design work — Note: UX designer available; this role is not intended to be responsible for production quality product design
    • Support high level product architecture design

    Product Roadmap Mgmt (25%)

    • Encourage internal product ideation
    • Organize ideas into items on product roadmap
    • Support roadmap prioritization and strategy

    Software Engineering Mgmt (25%)

    • Scope software engineering projects and sprints
    • Document and triage engineering tasks / tickets
    • Review engineering deliverables / quality assurance
    • Deliver products to users / user acceptance testing

IrrationalLabs is hiring a Remote Applied Behavioral Scientist

        Two notes for you:

        1. Irrational Labs is based in San Francisco. But you can be based anywhere in the U.S. This is a remote U.S. company with 2x a year in-person gatherings.
        2. This role could be part-time or full-time. If part-time, we bring people on for projects (1-3 days a week).
If full-time, we are hiring for behavioral scientists and managing directors. The level of seniority depends on experience. Join us!

        About us

Irrational Labsis a leading behavioral economics research and design firm. We were co-founded by famed author/professor Dan Ariely and behavioral scientist Kristen Berman.

The Irrational Labs team works with the very top companies to design and implement systems and products that change behavior. Our work spans from driving customer adoption of digital experiences to creating ground-up innovations that leverage key psychologies. We are experts in how and why people make decisions and guide top companies in applying this knowledge to their top problems.

Who is this role best for?

This position is perfect for someone trained in behavioral science and someone with client management skills. This person has experience applying behavioral science concepts/ideas in a real-world environment (read: must have industry/work experience)

        Examples questions we answer include:

        • How can we increase the conversion rate for job sites that promote adult education?
        • How can we increase the productivity of meetings?
        • How can we prevent the spread of misinformation?
        • How can we drive adherence to healthy behaviors within a healthcare company?

We work directly with PMs, designers, and marketers at tech companies. This means you will need some understanding of how a tech company works and be a skilled communicator of behavioral insights in order to get on their roadmap.

You would build relationships with senior stakeholders, form a joint working team, and take the client through the Behavioral Design process. Throughout the process, you will consult with Irrational Lab’s core team of behavioral scientists and advisors including Kristen Berman and Dan Ariely.

By being a part of this team, the person will learn key insights about human behavior that could be used in the future across domains. You’ll learn how Irrational Labs thinks about product design. You’ll be exposed to projects, workshops, and new ways to approach problems.

        Skills/experience required:

        • 3+ years of professional experience, ideally at a top management consultancy or another behavioral shop.
        • Track record of driving projects end-to-end, preferably client-facing projects
        • Ability to be the main counterpart to senior decision-makers at companies. Highly effective oral communicator.
        • Extremely persuasive and high level written communication skills (Read: You can make and edit clean slides)
        • Ability to design experiments, write study questions and glean insights from datasets and experiments
        • Ability to mock up medium-fidelity designs that represent our proposals (in ppt, figma or sketch)
        • Preferred: Applied behavioral science experience within industry or consultancy. If not, you should have a clear interest in and exposure to behavioral science. You should have read at least a couple of behavioral science books. You should know the difference between loss aversion and the endowment effect. You should read papers.
        • Not required: Knowledge of R or a Ph.D.

        Perks:

        • Exposure. You’ll get exposure to all projects Irrational Labs takes on. Given we’re a small team you’ll get to play a significant role in strategic decision making.
        • Impact. Every project we do is with the goal of making a real impact on people’s lives. And we measure it.
        • Humor. We are fun and funny, at least we think we are [awkward pause].

        JOB TYPE: Full-time

        ABOUT GORDIAN

Gordian is building the operating system for the airline industry and taking the friction out of travel. We started on an unsolved problem: empower travel sites to upsell seat selection, baggage and other upgrades. We’ve signed huge customers like Priceline, Hopper and Trip.com to our unique API.

Our traction speaks for itself.  With twenty-five people, we have annualized revenue of over $13m, backing from investors including Y Combinator, the ex-CEO of Skyscanner and the founders of Plaid, and our rapid growth is accelerating.

We move fast, have a high impact culture, and work in a great hybrid-remote environment.  Get to know our culture and values here. Join our team to create the future of air travel.

        MISSION

We’re looking for a Product Designer to design interfaces, mock-ups, and presentations along with our commercial and engineering teams. You will own our visual look and feel and on any given day, you’ll be supporting our commercial teams with creating high fidelity mock-ups of new products, designing supporting visuals for company leadership presentations and collaborating with our engineering teams in crafting pixel perfect UIs.

        QUALIFICATIONS

        • 3+ years of design experience with a focus on web and mobile interfaces

        • Ability to clearly communicate designs through wireframes and sketches using Figma, Sketch, Photoshop and similar tools

        • Ability to communicate ideas to designers, engineers and leadership

        • Proven ability to manage high complexity projects

        • High alignment with our values of Freedom, Impact and Ownership

        HYBRID REMOTE ENVIRONMENT

We have a system for hybrid work called 7+1.  Read about it here.  Our remote teammates travel to Bellevue, WA for a full week once every two months.  We think it combines the best of remote and in person environments and it requires everyone not working from Bellevue to travel 6x per year.

Gordian Software is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, gender identity and/or expression, sex, ancestry, citizenship status, mental or physical disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, veteran status, or military status.

        Technology

Our core services are built in Python, Flask, Postgres, with Redis on the backend and React on the front end. We have some services in Node, Express, Vue, and MongoDB. We deploy on Heroku, Netlify, and AWS. Some interesting problems we're solving:

        • Tracking millions of dollars of complex financial flows between travel companies and airlines
        • Scalability - our monthly growth rates require us to continually think and make technology decisions against an ever increasing number of users, partners, and API requests
        • Expanding the number of products we offer, building in-house ancillary products from end to end
        • Anomaly detection across airline/travel website pairs. Many times we tell airlines they are down before they know
        • Data modeling to provide a simple, clean API format across 140 airlines' different product sets.
