About the team  

As a team our mission is to create a technology driven company where we are empowered to use our skills to solve difficult problems and scale the product.

To achieve this, we are looking to hire software developers that are passionate about developing simple solutions for complex problems. Successful candidates will work with our team in a full-stack position.

Our tech stack is primarily Ruby on Rails using PostgreSQL, all hosted on Heroku. We use Terraform to manage our infrastructure and encourage teams to be involved in how we deploy and run our code in Production.

You'll be supported by one of our Engineering Managers who are there to help you with your career progression and ensure that the team you are on are working as well as they can - continuously improving!

About the role

Software engineers at carwow work on cross-functional product teams of product managers, engineers, designers and data analysts. You will work closely with a Product Manager and a Tech Lead on deciding what features to build for customers, break down and build features with the team, review code, mentor engineers, ensure operational excellence, and share knowledge broadly across the engineering organisation.

What you’ll need

Time spent in software engineering roles is of course important, but we prioritise attitude, aptitude, and the kind of impact you’ve had over years' experience. Ideally you’ll have:

• For this role, we would consider people who have zero or up to 18 months of experience working in a professional ruby environment
• Have a good grasp of Ruby, both plain and with frameworks (e.g. Ruby on Rails)
• Cares about well-testedwell tested code
• Likes the idea of working on a large, consumer facing site that uses event-driven systems throughout (we use Kafka)
• Are comfortable using git or other source control system proficiently
• Wants to work in a metrics driven environment and cares about the outcomes of your work
• Are self-driven and take responsibility for product outcomes, doing whatever’s necessary to make things happen.
• Enjoy working in distributed teams and working cross-functionally with Product managers, designers, user researchers and other developers,

Über die Rolle

Senior Engineers bei carwow arbeiten in funktionsübergreifenden Produktteams aus Produktmanagern, Ingenieuren, Designern und Datenanalysten. Du wirst eng mit einem Produktmanager und einem Tech Lead zusammenarbeiten, um zu entscheiden, welche Funktionen für die Kunden entwickelt werden sollen. Gemeinsam mit dem Team wirst du Funktionen aufteilen und entwickeln, Code überprüfen, Ingenieure betreuen, operative Exzellenz sicherstellen und Wissen breit über die gesamte Engineering-Organisation teilen.

Job Summary:

The IT Programmer specializes in leading the development and upkeep of critical Data/API integrations with external parties, focusing on delivering solutions that are functional, reliable, and efficient. This role involves an active collaboration with business analysts, technical leads, and fellow programmers.

Responsibilities:

• Regularly evaluate the existing Data/API features to identify areas for enhancement.
• Implement performance optimization strategies to ensure the Data/API operates efficiently.
• Stay up to date with new technologies and industry best practices to incorporate in the Data/API.
• Collaborate with different teams, such as front-end developers, database administrators, and product managers, to integrate Data/API components.
• Ensure seamless communication and understanding across cross-functional teams to facilitate effective integration.

Technical Qualification:

•  MUST HAVE - Knowledge of Agricultural Technology (AgTech), geoprocessing, and Geographic Information System (GIS) frameworks, indicating an understanding of the specialized tools and methods used in the agricultural domain for data processing and spatial analysis.
• Possess knowledge and experience with integration architecture patterns, standards, frameworks, or tools.
• The position requires practical experience in designing and implementing security protocols and patterns to ensure robust protection of systems and data.
• Solid understanding and hands-on experience in designing, implementing, deploying, and maintaining public facing, high performing and scalable enterprise web services and APIs.
• Strong knowledge / experience is required in SOA, WCF, Web Services (SOAP, REST, XML, JSON) and various transport and security protocols.

Vision and Strategy Development:

• Effectively communicate with the PCFF Development Director, Global Technical Director to support the Global Technical Director vision and strategy for the department. Offers well-thought-out solutions and recommendations.
• Support and help with identification of emerging technologies and trends relevant to gaming (and in our case specifically online, self published games) and integrate their adoption into the roadmap.

You will work closely with product and engineering teams across Turnitin to integrate Machine Learning into a broad suite of learning, teaching and integrity products.

We are in a unique position to deliver Machine Learning used by hundreds of thousands of instructors teaching millions of students around the world. Your contributions will have global reach and scale. Billions of papers have been submitted to the Turnitin platform, and hundreds of millions of answers have been graded on the Gradescope and Examsoft platforms. Machine Learning powers our AI Writing detection system, gives automated feedback on student writing, investigates authorship of student writing, revolutionizes the creation and grading of assessments, and plays a critical role in many back-end processes.

Responsibilities and Requirements

We expect Senior Machine Learning Scientists to be versatile and have a well-balanced set of skills. You will focus on model training, with significant capacity for research (developing novel model architectures), dataset construction, and model hardening (preparing the model and code for production pipelines).

Day-to-day, your responsibilities are to:

• Work with subject matter experts and product owners to determine what questions should be asked and what questions can be answered.
• Work with subject matter experts to curate, generate, and annotate data, and create optimal datasets following responsible data collection and model maintenance practices.
• Answer questions and make trainable datasets from raw data, using efficient SQL queries and scripting languages, visualizing when necessary.
• Develop and tune Machine Learning models, following best practices to select datasets, architectures, and model parameters.
• Utilize, adopt, and fine-tune Language Models, including third-party LLMs (through prompt engineering and orchestration) and locally hosted LMs.
• Stay current in the field - read research papers, experiment with new models and LLMs, and share your findings.
• Optimize models for scaled production usage.
• Communicate data insights, as well as the behavior and limitations of models, to peers, subject matter experts, and product owners.
• Write clean, efficient, and modular code, with automated tests and appropriate documentation.
• Stay up to date with technology, make good technological choices, and be able to explain them to the organization.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Experience working with text data to build predictive models, both supervised and unsupervised.
• A strong understanding of the math and statistics behind machine learning theory and fluency with general machine learning domains such as classification, regression, unsupervised clustering and recommender engines.
• Software engineering background with 2-3 years of experience (we use Python, SQL, Unix-based systems, git, and github for collaboration and review).
• Machine Learning development skills, including experiment tracking (we use AWS SageMaker, Hugging Face, transformers, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Jupyter, Weights & Biases).

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Solution Software Engineer to join a team of multi-talented engineers, heavily involved in Trustonic product integration/support and security solution design and developments.  

A bit about the team and what you'll deliver...

The Solution Engineering Team is part of the wider Product group within Trustonic and responsible for integrating Trustonic Secure Platform products into our partner’s commercial products. They work closely with the local Sales and Product Management team to understand and follow our customers’ technical projects. They also assist in advertising all Trustonic products and performs demo to potential partners for acquiring new contracts. The Solution Engineering Team also develops and delivers some security technical features raised by specific regions to provide secure and easier solutions to our partners.  

Reporting to our Senior Solution Engineering Manager in Asia, we are looking for a customer-focused Solution Software Engineer based in Taiwan. Travel is expected to represent a proportion of time for this job. This role is mainly targeting Taiwan and the Hsinchu area but will be part of a wider team, dedicated to facing overall Asia customers and working closely with Chinese, Taiwanese and European colleagues in Trustonic. 

As a Solution Software Engineer, you will be:

The Solution Engineering team addresses advanced technology topics such as implementation of Trustonic TEE product features, and integration of these product features on our Clients SoC or mobile device. The main responsibilities of the Solution Software Engineer include:  

• Working with technology experts (internal or external) to understand product and security requirements. 

• Assisting the commercial team with technical questions and knowledge sharing. 

• Customer-facing in the support of Sales and Product teams. 

• Creating customer-facing technical materials such as training. 

• Working closely with R&D teams and Sales to prioritize, triage and respond to customer queries.

• Proactively dealing with dynamic customer requirements and issues in a professional manner. 

• Design, implement and test components of Trustonic technical solutions for customers. 

• Integrate Trustonic TEE product on different SoC platforms (ARM based). 

• Integrate Trustonic TEE product on different OEM devices (ARM based). 

• Help our customers to validate the Trustonic product integration ready on OEM devices. 

• Help to develop secure applications for different use cases on Trustonic’s solutions. 

• A very strong focus on debug and issue resolution, knowledge sharing. 

• Participate in technical meetings and prepare training programs. 

• Coordinate with the Research and Development team to identify issues and resolve them.

Who you are...

As the Solution Software Engineer you have the following skills and experience:

Technical skills:  

• Good C language knowledge is mandatory. 

• Strong technical background: Embedded development and debug (including hardware debugger), ARM technology, system-on-chip (SoC), Android OS, Linux kernel and drivers, Fingerprint sensors, Cryptography, Secure policies and practices. Proven methodological testing skills an advantage. 

• Knowledge in these areas is an advantage: TrustZone, TrustZone-M, secure boot, crypto experience, how security relates to communication protocols, and of the principles necessary to provide end-to-end security. 

• An analytical mindset, able to approach a problem and devise a systematic way of solving it.

• Strong team player, able to work with cross-functional and distributed teams, to drive consensus across multiple stakeholders and to lead where necessary. 

• Ability to work with international customers, and with colleagues based at different locations. 

Languages: 

• Native or Fluent Mandarin, both written and spoken, is a pre-requisite.

• Fluency in English is required as it is the business language in the Company.

• Good oral and written communication and reporting skills.

Experience:

• 3+ years of software engineering, customer facing application engineering experience required.

• Preferred experience in Security products (from embedded software to cloud services, including HSMs) in a multi-national company.

• Preferred experience in SoC security (from BootROM, boot-loader, TrustZone, TEE, Android security … etc.).

The following skills would also be desirable:

• First experience in embedded software or in Linux driver development is a strong plus. 

• A problem-solver, often thinking of unique ways of working to improve everyday tasks. 

• Good familiarity with version control and building tools (Git / Maven / Gradle / Jenkins).

• Awareness of PKI and cryptography principles.

• Extensive experience in designing secure systems.

• Experience of Java (server/cloud or device side) or Scripting (e.g. Python).

• Experience of chip vendors, e.g. MediaTek, Samsung, Qualcomm … etc. 

• Insight into or experience of working with the telco industry.
