About the role 

We are looking for software engineers that want to build software that helps people with aphasia lead fulfilling lives. A Software Engineer at Lingraphica is responsible for coding, debugging, and testing software built by their team. This role requires the ability to work independently and make design decisions within the scope of the immediate tasks. 

This software engineer role will join our systems engineering group as an active member of the application delivery team. This team focuses on building applications that integrate our operational systems and services (Customer Relation Management (CRM), Learning Management System (LMS), Billing, Shipping, and Inventory management).  

The ideal candidate would be an eager to learn and inquisitive developer with experience building APIs and Web applications. We are looking for a team player who is passionate about code quality and hungry to learn new technologies and development stacks as needed by the team.  

Our Stack

  • We have several micro services that are deployed on AWS (Amazon Web Service), and we leverage AWS services heavily. 
  • Most of our server-side code is written in python, and we use React, Vue.js and WordPress for user-facing interfaces. 
  • We rely heavily on Lambda, EC2, API (Application Programming Interface) Gateway, Cloud front, SQS, SNS, Route 53, S3, RDS (Postgres and MySQL), Dynamo DB and Cloud Watch.
  • We use the Serverless Framework to manage our cloud infrastructure deployments. 
  • We build applications that leverage systems' capabilities, including HubSpot, Slack, Microsoft Office 365, Billing, Inventory, and Shipping services like UPS. 

Our Setup 

  • The team follows SCRUM (as closely as we can) as our development process and delivers working software in two-week iteration cycles. 
  • We use Pivotal Tracker to track our user stories, chores, and bugs. 
  • We use GitHub to maintain our code bases. 
  • Our cloud infrastructure is hosted in AWS. 
  • We love tools that make our lives easier and have a plethora of modern and not so modern tools and services. 

Essential duties and responsibilities 

  • Write great code in python and lots of it. Contribute in the ReactJS and Php codebases.
  • Resolve production issues as a secondary line of support. 
  • Actively contribute to the SCRUM team deliverables for each sprint by coding, testing, and documenting the work.
  • Collaborate with team to keep our CI/CD and automated test suites up to date.
  • Coordinates with the product owner to refine requirements.
  • Coordinate with the other members of the team to identify issues and recommend solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of  6 engineers, coach them, advocate for them and unblock them.
  • Provide technical direction to the engineers and be accountable for the technical decisions made on the team.
  • Hire, Onboard, mentor and performance management for the team members.
  • Responsible for up to 2 scrum teams, execution and deliverables on tight deadlines.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Design and other cross-functional teams to define the product vision and roadmap.
  • Ship features, measure impact and iterate on further improvement.
  • Set the bar for engineering and rise as the team matures.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Engineering management experience with hands-on technical leadership.
  • 5+ years in large scale Javsacript/web based application design, development and testing.
  • 3+ years in React / Angular / Vue web frameworks.
  • Ability to design full-stack applications including system design, data modeling and scaling backend applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, gather feedback and fix systemic issues by improving processes.

        Specific skills requirements: 

        • 2+ years developing blockchain solutions
        • 7+ years in software engineering, 2+ years consulting experience
        • Expertise with various blockchain platforms, specifically nuances between private vs. public chains 
        • Experience with layer 2 protocols 
        • Strong proficiency of security principles, relational databases (SQL and NoSQL) and architecture design principles
        • Extensive experience in back-end development, algorithms, and data structures
        • Knowledge of cryptography and blockchain protocols
        • Advanced proficiency and hands-on experience with one or more of the following languages: Java, Python, C++, JavaScript, NodeJS
        • Some familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CICD, Mockito, WireMock, and concepts and processes related to Scrum Agile
        • Understanding of Angular, React, Vue frameworks is a plus
