Square is hiring a Remote Senior Software Engineer - Data Products (Full-Stack)

    Company Description

Since we first opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely – and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take a payment and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, run a busy kitchen, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. And across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow all in one place.

Today, we’re a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex commerce operations, sellers just starting out, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers scale, so do our solutions. We all grow together.

Square is hiring a Remote Software Engineer (Frontend), Order Hub

    Company Description

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

    Job Description

Square's purpose is economic empowerment; since our beginning, we have been helping numerous sellers start and manage their own businesses. Many small businesses struggled with the pandemic as they scrambled to adapt to going online to reach their customers.

The Orders team has a mission to help sellers to reach their customers anywhere and provide seamless omnichannel experiences - such as buy online, pickup in store - to sellers of all sizes. Furthermore, we aim to build an Orders platform that empowers both teams at Square and an ecosystem of third-party developers to support our sellers in this bright future ahead.

The Order Hub team has a vision in which Square sellers can efficiently manage their orders all in one place, regardless of source or channel. As a frontend engineer on the Order Hub team, you will develop a best-in-class Order Management experience that makes omnichannel a reality for our sellers.

    You will:

    • Lead the development of thoughtful new features in Square's Seller Dashboard to empower sellers to easily manage their orders

    • Work with other engineers, designers, and product managers to iterate on and ship excellent product experiences, from prototype to launch.

    • Provide mentorship and guidance to other front-end engineers, teaching us frontend development best practices.

    • Hold yourself, and your teammates, accountable to the standards of engineering that allow Square to safely move billions of dollars in payments and allow our customers to trust us with their sensitive data.

    Qualifications

    You have:

    • 5+ years of industry experience working on web applications using modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (e.g. React, Ember, Angular, Vue)

    • Experience contributing to large frontend codebases and leading complex technical projects, e.g. cross-team programs or migrating from a legacy to more modern tech stack

    • A desire to build products that our merchants will depend on every day to run their business.

    • [Bonus] Experience building, or even using, order management systems for sellers.

Our approach has been to create a company designed to follow the talent, allowing us to amass an unfair share of hyper-skilled people who call Robots & Pencils home. Over the years we’ve hosted comedian shows, had holiday parties, happy hours, brunches with the CEO, surprise coffee runs for the team, health & wellness events and prizes, trivia nights, surprise dinners for R&P team members and their family and so much more! (And yes, we’ve prioritized a way to do these things in a virtual setting and not just in person - thank you Zoom!)

    agileremote-firstDesignFirebasevuemobilemongodbazuresasshtml5cssangularjenkinsfrontendNode.js

Dina is hiring a Remote Staff Frontend Software Engineer

Dina is growing! We are looking for a staff frontend software engineer to join our tight-knit engineering team. Success in this role includes building, testing, deploying, scaling, and even rewriting our web and mobile applications alongside the server applications that support them in a fast-moving startup environment.

Dina is a leading Chicago-based health-tech company whose mission is to create a better life for aging adults through solutions that connect healthcare providers, caregivers, families and community resources. Our web and mobile applications are the industry’s first fully integrated suite for HIPAA-compliant communications including care coordination, transitions, and referrals. All of this is powered by our in-house digital assistant, whose predictive models identify patients who show a high risk for returning to the emergency department or requiring specialized support to optimize the health and safety of each patient’s journey.

Please note, Dina is now a remote-first company. We have made the adjustments necessary so that interviewing, onboarding, and working through our roles can all be performed remotely.

    You Will:

    • Help us accelerate our competitive edge in the care-at-home market by modernizing, improving, and scaling our mobile and web applications
    • Design, pioneer, and lead an overhaul of our frontend application architecture, including an iterative migration to a modern framework.
    • Develop, test, and deploy scalable, production-quality code that is secure, tested, and performant.
    • Help guide our frontend application architecture – develop new features, push new technologies, set and uphold best practices, and help improve our software development life cycle.
    • Work alongside other engineers to monitor, improve, and ensure the health of the platform to provide the very best experience to our end-users.
    • Provide technical leadership, mentorship and guidance to all engineers on the team to help them grow their technical expertise and experience

    You Are:

    • An expert in one or many modern frontend frameworks (Angular, React, Vue), but are comfortable contributing to the back-end (NodeJS) as needed.
    • Excited to solve complex and challenging problems, working with a sense of urgency through to completion.
    • Eager to help others when necessary. You strive to contribute to the success of your peers, the team, and the company.
    • Self-driven, resourceful, and independent, yet unafraid to ask for help.
    • Crafty in your solutions – you bring value to end users with efficiency and elegance.
    • Highly accountable – you hold a deep sense of responsibility to execute, focused on positive outcomes for both our users and the code, fully thriving in a remote environment.

    You Have:

    • 6+ years professional experience developing, testing, and deploying scalable, production-worthy code in a modern front-end framework (e.g. Angular, React, Vue)
    • 2+ years professional experience developing, testing, and deploying scalable, production-worthy code in a hybrid mobile framework (e.g. NativeScript, Ionic, React Native), and deploying mobile applications to the App Store and Google Play Store
    • Professional, demonstrated knowledge in object-oriented programming (OOP), preferably Typescript.
    • Experience in NodeJS preferred.
    • Demonstrated experience working in agile teams; breaking projects down into iterative chunks and continually improving.
    • Expert knowledge in HTML5, a CSS preprocessor (e.g. Sass, LESS, Stylus), and CSS3.
    • Professional experience in continuous delivery best practices, including automated testing (we use Jest) and continuous delivery (e.g. CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
    • Bonus: you have experience guiding a team through migrating a front-end application from one framework to another (e.g. AngularJS to Angular or React to Vue)

    We Use:

    • Javascript/Typescript (AngularJS) with Stylus/Sass & Ionic on the frontend; Node.js (NestJS) on the backend.
    • Cloud-native architecture including use of Platform as a Service offerings like Firebase, MongoDB and from vendors like Azure, Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services
    • Continuous Integration and Delivery via GitHub Actions and CircleCI

    Benefits:

    • Competitive Salary with Equity Opportunities
    • Unlimited PTO with a minimum one week of paid time off
