We’re in a brand-new phase every year; it’s impossible to grow bored. And of course, I also like that we’re continuously winning. We’re a trusted industry partner now, with tangible success.” - Bart Römgens, lead software engineer Applications & Integrations

At Samotics, we develop AI-based predictive analytics for industrial machinery. The applications & integrations team is looking for a high-performing full stack developer to help us present our enormous amounts of sensor data to our clients in a fast, consistent, intuitive way and to help us reduce the carbon footprint of industrial machines (responsible for more than 40% of global electricity consumption) by improving our dedicated energy monitor.

We are a growing, energetic company where professionalism, a great atmosphere and cutting-edge technology go hand in hand. Our team in Leiden, the Netherlands currently has about 50 people and continues to grow. Some of these employees work remotely.

What you will do

You will work in a small, dedicated team designing and implementing data structures, algorithms, interactive visualizations and user interfaces to share these insights with clients via web applications and APIs. The development team

The software engineering team currently consists of 11 developers (5 experienced seniors, the others juniors or mediors) working on a large architecture covering a wide domain, from signal processing on our edge devices through dashboarding for different user groups. Gordian is building the operating system for the airline industry and taking the friction out of travel. We started on an unsolved problem: empower travel sites to upsell seat selection, baggage and other upgrades. We’ve signed huge customers like Priceline, Hopper and to our unique API.

Our traction speaks for itself.  With twenty-five people, we have annualized revenue of over $13m, backing from investors including Y Combinator, the ex-CEO of Skyscanner and the founders of Plaid, and our rapid growth is accelerating.

We move fast, have a high impact culture, and work in a great hybrid-remote environment.  Get to know our culture and values here. Join our team to create the future of air travel.

We’re looking for a Product Designer to design interfaces, mock-ups, and presentations along with our commercial and engineering teams. You will own our visual look and feel and on any given day, you’ll be supporting our commercial teams with creating high fidelity mock-ups of new products, designing supporting visuals for company leadership presentations and collaborating with our engineering teams in crafting pixel perfect UIs.

  • 3+ years of design experience with a focus on web and mobile interfaces

  • Ability to clearly communicate designs through wireframes and sketches using Figma, Sketch, Photoshop and similar tools

  • Ability to communicate ideas to designers, engineers and leadership

  • Proven ability to manage high complexity projects

  • Motivated by a fast-paced, high impact environment

  • Proactive and comfortable operating amidst ambiguity

  • Clear communicator with a bias to collaborate

  • High alignment with our values of Freedom, Impact and Ownership

We have a system for hybrid work called 7+1.  Read about it here.  Our remote teammates travel to Bellevue, WA for a full week once every two months.  We think it combines the best of remote and in person environments and it requires everyone not working from Bellevue to travel 6x per year.

Gordian Software is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, gender identity and/or expression, sex, ancestry, citizenship status, mental or physical disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, veteran status, or military status.

Our core services are built in Python, Flask, Postgres, with Redis on the backend and React on the front end. We have some services in Node, Express, Vue, and MongoDB. We deploy on Heroku, Netlify, and AWS. Some interesting problems we're solving:

  • Tracking millions of dollars of complex financial flows between travel companies and airlines
  • Scalability - our monthly growth rates require us to continually think and make technology decisions against an ever increasing number of users, partners, and API requests
  • Expanding the number of products we offer, building in-house ancillary products from end to end
  • Anomaly detection across airline/travel website pairs. Many times we tell airlines they are down before they know
  • Data modeling to provide a simple, clean API format across 140 airlines' different product sets.
