We're now recruiting a Senior Frontend Engineer to join our Investcentre team and help in enhancing our successful award-winning platform. You will be joining a team which has a philosophy of continuous improvement, and a strong focus on engineering excellence. 

What does the job involve?

Competence, knowledge and skills 

  • Expertise in building modular and reusable components for Single Page Applications with one or more of the following frameworks: Angular, React, Vue, Svelte, etc. 
  • Good knowledge of JavaScript (ES5/6 and up) 
  • Experience with at least one version control tool: GitHub, BitBucket, GitLab, etc. 
  • Experience with at least one UI framework: Bootstrap, Tailwind, Material, etc, 
  • Experience of common Frontend styling paradigms: BEM, CSS modules, CSS in JS, etc. 
  • Knowledge of general Frontend tooling (particularly Node.js and npm) 
  • Knowledge of writing unit tests 
  • Knowledge and interest in asynchronous and event-based Frontend tooling: RxJS, Ngrx, Redux, etc. 
  • Knowledge and interest in writing end-to-end journey tests using tech such as Cypress, Nightwatch, Webdriverio, Protractor, etc. 
  • Knowledge and interest in Web APIs 
  • Practical experience of solving inconsistency across multiple platforms (IE11, Safari, Firefox, Chrome on Windows or Mac) 
  • Familiar with CI/CD practices 
  • Understands principles behind highly performing web pages 
  • Agile / Scrum / Kanban 
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal 
  • Very motivated with high levels of drive and enthusiasm

About the opportunity

We're seeking a Frontend Engineer to help us build a simpler, more customer-centric home buying and selling experience in partnership with real estate agents.

This is a fulltime, contract position, not eligible for visa sponsorship.

In this role you will

  • Develop, design, debug, and modify components of software applications and tools in agile environment
  • Write automated unit and integration tests as appropriate to support our continuous integration pipelines

About the role:

The Safety Event Triage team owns systems and customer-facing interfaces across web, mobile, and API surfaces designed to identify unsafe driving behaviors and facilitate quick remediation through coaching and training. Our mission is to ensure customer fleet safety. We do this by closely collaborating with other Safety teams, including ML & AI engineering, to ingest sensor and media based data, detect risky behaviors, and implement workflows to score, report, and coach fleet drivers. In this role, you will:

Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy:Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. We pay for performance, and top performers in eligible roles may receive above-market equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.

    In this role, you will: 

    • Leverage data to understand our customers and our funnel in depth, identify areas of opportunity and execute projects to drive revenue, customer growth, retention, and/or engagement
    • Build customer-facing products using a combination of custom frontends, Cloud applications, backend services, scripts, etc.
    • Collaborate with marketing, sales operations and product teams to implement growth initiatives
    • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
    • Lead engineering discussions and write thoughtful documentation and tests

    Minimum requirements for this role:

    • 3+ years of experience working in a full stack, API engineering or application services role
    • Experience with Python and/or Javascript (Vue)
    • Knowledgeable about modern web technologies and testing frameworks
    • Excellent analytical skills
    • Ability to partner with different parts of the organization to identify and solve major business problems
    • Desire to learn about our business and apply that business acumen to our applications
    • B.S., M.S. degree (or higher) in Computer Science or related technical experience

    An ideal candidate also has:

    • 2+ years of experience on a Growth/e-commerce team
    • Experience using Vue in production web applications
    • Experience using AWS services: Elastic Beanstalk, Amplify, Lambda, CloudFront
    • Knowledge of any of the following tools: Turborepo, Terraform, Cypress or any similar tools
    • Knowledge of any of the following services: SaaS e-commerce platforms, Salesforce, Contentful, Stripe or any similar products

    Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy:Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs) for eligible roles.  For eligible roles, a new hire RSU award may be awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually. 

    We pay for performance, and top performers in eligible roles may receive above-market equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.

    The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
    $94,350$122,100 CAD

    Les candidats retenus auront pour principales missions:

    • Promouvoir notre gamme d'équipements de réfraction et d'imagerie auprès des centres hospitaliers et centres hospitaliers universitaires
    • Assurer les démonstrations et formations auprès des utilisateurs
    • Organiser des réunions avec le personnel hospitalier (orthoptistes, Internes, chefs de clinique...)
