The Observability team at Cruise is looking for a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to play a critical role in building out and improving observability systems, tools and the related codebase.

Site Reliability Engineers at Cruise bring specialized knowledge and experience to ensure the reliability, scalability, performance, efficiency, and security of our systems.

 

What you'll be doing:

  • Using your software and systems engineering skills to contribute code, perform code reviews, and create technical designs that improve performance and reliability of observability systems.
  • Proactively identify and address challenges that create new opportunities to improve the state of engineering through observability.
  • Partnering with Software Engineering teams to better understand use-cases and guide the engineers to use the existing tools effectively.
  • Building tools to enable engineers to collect and act on observability signals.

 

What you must have:

  • Previous experience as an SRE, Production Engineer, Systems Engineer, or Software Engineer with a focus on distributed systems reliability.
  • Considerable experience in working with container orchestration systems (eg. Kubernetes).
  • Proficient in designing and developing sophisticated distributed systems, with expertise in one or more high-level programming languages such as Go, Python, Rust, C/C++, or NodeJS.
  • Experience in implementing a new technology or service by leading or driving a multi-functional effort.
  • Experience in designing and implementing large scale systems.
  • Considerable Linux experience.
  • Effective collaboration skills to work closely with the team members and various engineering teams.

  • Experience with Cloud Platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

The Department: Payments

The Role: Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll help solve complex problems that will directly influence the direction of the digital asset space. We are a team of self-starters, self-driven owners. There’s a wide range of problems to solve at Gemini – from properly securing millions of dollars worth of customer funds, to developing innovative new blockchain products, to building highly-available and high-scale systems on the cloud, to building anomaly detection models to identify risky behavior. We have a strong culture of code reviews, and a focus on security, with the end goal of writing and shipping high-quality code by getting things right the first time. We want to continue building the best product we can as we scale and grow our business. Responsibilities:

  • Develop new products and product features on the Gemini platform, as part of a tight knit team of about eight developers, as well document designs.
  • Own the DevOps lifecycle for a product; building, validating and maintaining high quality products through its lifetime.
  • Provide technical input and knowledge to the planning, design, and requirements process for new products and features.
  • Author high quality code, and review other software engineers’ code for correctness, style, and information security concerns.
  • Improve the performance, maintainability, and operations of the Gemini code base by engaging in occasional refactoring and upgrade projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 6 years of software engineering experience.
  • Building micro-services in the cloud (AWS, Azure etc) and building high-available services at scale.
  • Advanced proficiency in at least one programming language like Java, Rust, C++, Scala. We use mostly Scala and C++ on our backend – it’s great if you’re comfortable in those or if you’re willing to learn.
  • The ability to work closely across teams (and time-zones) and manage dependencies.
  • A customer and product-focused mindset, with the ability to make well-reasoned tradeoffs between speed and quality.
  • The ability to adapt and handle multiple competing priorities in collaboration with peers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with or being a power user of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and/or blockchain technology.
  • Work experience or knowledge of the finance industry, payments, trading and/or exchange systems.

Compensation

As a Customer Support Lead, you will oversee the team's daily responsibilities to ensure they have the tools and support to help exceed our Support goals. You will partner with peers and senior leadership to improve our support channels across email and live chat and help influence the broader department strategy—all the while strengthening team culture, driving customer happiness and promoting employee development and success.

You will report to our Customer Support Manager and will be based in our Dublin Office (Hybrid or Remote).

  • Create a positive team culture. Manage your team's adherence to company policies, performance expectations and support metrics

Cloudflare is redefining the way networks are run at scale. About the role

We are hiring engineers of all experience levels across many of our teams. Some of the things our teams work on include:

As a Senior Security Engineer on our Detection and Response team, you will help detect and respond to threats for one of the biggest online platforms in the world that handles massive amounts of traffic at very low latency.

We are looking for a teammate with expertise in both security engineering and operations and that values the complement between the two. You will have the opportunity to build and integrate tooling and detections, as well as investigate threats and lead incidents. As part of the larger Security organization, we make risk-informed decisions and prioritize automations to help us scale. In this role, you will help design, build, and mature our detection and response program, enabling rapid detection and effective response to threats against Fastly.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop detections and other analytics to identify threats across cloud, corporate, and edge environments
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Security Architecture, Risk Management, Compliance, and other teams to prioritize detections and delivery of other security initiatives
  • Triage and investigate security threats and lead security incidents
  • Research, evaluate, implement, and maintain a variety of custom and commercial security tools, such as Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), anti-phishing, and Security Information and Event Monitoring (SIEM)
  • Develop strategies, frameworks, designs, automations, metrics, and processes to support the maturity of the Detection and Response program
  • Develop and maintain incident response playbooks and other detection and response documentation
  • Conduct threat hunts to discover unknown malicious activity across our environment
  • Participate in our on-call rotations
  • Mentor other team members and contribute to larger Security initiatives

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience in utilizing Splunk to include investigating threats, developing metrics and dashboards, normalizing data feeds, and integrating with other tools
  • Familiarity of attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) and investigating advanced threats
  • Experience in evaluating, implementing, configuring, tuning, and maintaining Endpoint Detection and Response solutions
  • Experience with at least one major public cloud infrastructure, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Experience in effectively leading large and complex security incidents from detection to remediation
  • Familiarity with modern security frameworks and best practices, such as the MITRE ATT&CK framework and NIST CSF
  • Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages such as Python, Ruby, Go, or Rust
  • Experience with Linux administration at scale, associated intrusion/manipulation techniques, and standard methodologies for system hardening and process isolation

We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these: 

  • Developed “detections-as-code”

  • Published research on detection engineering or threat intelligence
  • Developed automations to improve security operations

What you’ll do: 

  • Technically manage the Thunderbird release process, including:
    • Planning the release schedule

  • At least 5 years experience in a senior DevOps, Build, or Release Engineering role.

We seek a passionate Go backend Software Engineer to join our Analytics team and help us build our new data platform fueling business-critical features. You will mainly write new services in Go which run on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kubernetes, interacting with SQL databases, Kafka, and other services.

Part of your job will be to ensure the eventual consistency of data across multiple databases, high availability, good observability, and efficiency of services. The ability to read Python code is crucial since a significant part of the platform code is written in it and some existing features will be moved from the existing Python code base to new Go services.

Responsibilities
