Hims & Hers seeks an inspiring leader to lead our data engineering efforts. The Data Engineering team sits at the intersection of Engineering, DevOps, and Analytics Engineering. The Senior Manager, Data Engineering position is a crucial leadership role responsible for overseeing a team of data engineers and ensuring the successful delivery of work within the defined domains. This person is responsible for the infrastructure, data warehouse and data pipelines that power analytical models and operational data workloads, as well as the team who builds, operates, and maintains them. The manager will be working closely with the DevOps, Engineering and Analytics Engineering teams to bring alignment in order to leverage the Self-Service Data Platform to build new data pipelines and migrate existing data platform currently hosted on Google BigQuery to Databricks on AWS where the Enterprise data resides. 

You Will:

  • Lead a team responsible for large-scale Data and ML Infrastructure
  • Creatively tests and manages software applications and associated programs that support large-scale real-time and batch data pipelines
  • Guides the team to ensure the successful implementation of new concepts or methods
  • Be a recruiter 
  • Researching and recommending frameworks, and promoting operational excellence
  • Identifies and addresses potential issues in work processes, offering continuous improvement recommendations
  • Overseeing the processes of unit testing, establishing SLAs, and ensuring data quality checks
  • Demonstrates proficiency and up-to-date knowledge in languages, data platforms, cloud services, event instrumentation, and methodologies
  • You must have excellent listening, writing skills and very strong technical competency
  • You have a high bar for code quality and passion for design and architecture
  • Setting technical vision and engineering best practices in collaboration with senior engineers within the team
  • Perform code reviews

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in data engineering and leading teams.
  • 12+ years of experience with SQL, preferably for data transformation or analytical use cases.
  • Outstanding people skills with high emotional intelligence
  • Excellent at communicating context, giving and receiving feedback, fostering new ideas, and empowering others without micromanagement

  • Experience using version control (command-line, Git).
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Familiarity with Databricks, Kafka, or similar technologies.

  • Strong understanding of modern data stack and architectural strategies.
  • Experience developing a team in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Pathstream is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team of individual contributors focused on building and maintaining its core platform. In this role, you will ensure the platform is highly scalable, reliable, and capable of delivering a positive user experience while supporting rapid growth.

This full-time, salaried position reports to the VP of Engineering.

THE ROLE

  • Lead a 4+ person engineering team fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous learning in the world of platform development
  • Define the technical vision and roadmap for the platform, ensuring it aligns with broader company goals and development team user needs
  • Prioritize scalability and performance optimization, ensuring the platform can handle explosive user growth and deliver a seamless user experience.
  • Collaborate closely with product and application engineering teams to ensure seamless integration with the platform, enabling them to deliver impactful features quickly and efficiently.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the latest platform engineering technologies, methodologies, and best practices. This includes infrastructure, APIs, automation tools, and deployment pipelines.
  • Effectively delegate tasks and projects, ensuring ownership and accountability.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide career guidance, and foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Build strong relationships and collaborate effectively across different teams within the organization.
  • Foster a culture of learning and development within the team, encouraging skill-building and knowledge-sharing, specifically around platform engineering principles and tools.

ABOUT YOU

  • 4+ years software engineer with a strong background in building and maintaining complex platform systems.
  • 2+ years of experience leading and mentoring engineers. Prior experience as a team lead, technical lead, or engineering manager is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of scalability best practices and experience designing and implementing solutions that can handle significant growth.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and making data-driven decisions to achieve business metrics.
  • Highly collaborative and enjoy contributing to the professional development of team members.
  • Effective communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of infrastructure automation, platform security, and DevOps practices and principles
  • Proficient in most of our tech stack (React, Javascript, Python, Docker, PostgreSQL, AWS, Ruby on Rails).
  • Experience with GenAI tools or excitement to gain production experience

    • Zone 1: $154,000-$170,000 (SF, NYC)
    • Zone 2: $129,000-$142,000
    • Zone 3: $123,000-$135,000

The Basics

As an Engineering Manager at Tanium, you willbe responsible forleading and managing a team of brilliant software engineers. You will work closely with developers, product managers, user experience designers, technical documentation team and senior leadership to drive development of Tanium’s unified endpoint management and security platform.

What you’ll do

  • Build exceptional teams of highly qualified and high-performance engineers by hiring, coaching, and instilling a sense of ownership and impact 
  • Work closely with product managers, UX design engineers and other teams to define the vision and roadmap with a focus on the needs of Tanium’s customers 
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance and support while nurturing a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive culture 
  • Team with other managers to coordinate requirements, dependencies, and opportunities for collaboration 
  • Lead by example, leveraging your technical expertise to constantly raise the bar and ensure that the team consistently delivers outstanding results 
  • Work with senior engineering leaders to adjust the composition of the team and create new teams as necessary to respond to changing business needs 
  • Effectively manage projects throughout the entire software development cycle 
  • Ensure delivery of supportable, scalable, and performant software by the team 

We’re looking for someone with

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or other relevant degree or equivalent experience 
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years managing high-performing engineering teams 
    • 10+ years designing, developing, testing, and deploying software products
    • Proven track record of architecting and delivering enterprise-level reliable and scalable solutions
    • A thorough understanding of Software Development Life Cycle, Software as a Service (SaaS), etc.
    • Outside the box/first principles thinker who can come up with pragmatic solutions
    • Keep up with industry trends and can assess and utilize new technologies to help solve problem

What you’ll get

The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $170,000 to $515,000 This range is an estimate for what Tanium will pay a new hire. The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, training, and experience.

In addition to an annual base salary, team members will receive equity awards and a generous benefits package consisting of medical, dental and vision plan, family planning benefits, health savings account, flexible spending account, transportation savings account, 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match, life, accident and disability coverage, business travel accident insurance, employee assistance programs, disability insurance, and other well-being benefits.
